The playing is technically perfect and well balanced, but, the performance IS cold. It has nothing to do with the stillness of his body. He's not exuding the warmth from this piece that it deserves. He trivializes some phrases and it leaves you wanting for more. There is so much in this piece, and he plays it in a headlong tour de force. Just not well interpreted.
everytime when I watch Michelangeli's interpretation,I find this piece very easy. But everytime when I try to play it,I see that it isn't so!! That means I shouldn't watch Michelangeli anymore!
Beautifully played! I like it. This piece looks simple from the book but when you play it, the technique is awefully demanding. I always appreciate people can play this piece well! I cannot! Absolutely beautiful from Michelangeli and thanks Debussy to bring this music to the world. I cannot figure out how Debussy can compose such beautiful music...my respect to him.
I love his still composure. It's all in his technique and sound... Which as music it should be. I don't want to see his workings I want to gear the nuances. Loved it!
I remember my reaction on first reading through this piece--utter astonishment. That the whole tone scale could be so dynamic, so propulsive . . . . . ! Some of this astonishment came back, hearing Mr. Michelangeli just now. Wonderful!
nobody does it like he does! perfect balance, style and good taste. only cold when you look at him and see the lack of body movement. if you just listen it is a perfect moment!
as cold as a radiator, for me

Such a wonderful pianist! How sad that we lost him way before he was out of his prime! Thank you for sharing!

It's awesome the way he plays the ascending whole-tone scale at the end, it's as if he was playing a simple C major scale.

It's very well played. Good balance and tempo. In my opinion, just a little bit cold.
