  • the first time i started hand feeding a bird i was like 5 or 6 years old.

  • What?

  • So cute! Any tips on breeding Sun Conures?

  • @jacobstop If your Sun Conure is doing that, you should definitely go to a vet right away! Don't just wait around looking everyday for an answer. TAKE HIM TO THE VET!

  • HI I NEED HELP. I HAVE A QUESTION. I 'M HAN FEEDING MY BABY SUN CONURE HES JUST weaned NOW BUT HE IS VOMITING HIS FORMULA AND HE DON'T WANT TO EAT THE FORMULA AND HIS IS NOT EATING Pellets OR Seed NOW I GIVE HIS 2 TIME A DAY. BUT IM SCARE I DONT WANT MY BIRD TO GET SICK PLEASE GIVE SOME ADVISE..

  • The bird is so cutie and beautiful . ^_^

  • this woman needs to have sex.....or get a life...

  • So glad my bird got hand fed... She would've bit alot.

  • lol, i love the bird thats sidestepping in the backround

  • plllllllllllllllssssssssssss somebody tell me what i should do if my bird is sneezing non stop . i fed it and it started sneezing and its dull . i am worried . its a baby . i think i fed it too fast . pls tell me what to do .

  • please tell me why my birds head keeps going up and down ! i have a sun conure and it keeps twitching its wings and its head goes up and down . he is 3-4 months old .

  • the bird behind her hand is sooooo funny!!!!!!!

  • @warofthewalruses It is true that bird behin her hand looks like a crazy dancing bird kkkkkk...

  • why that bird in the background in fish tank?

  • I love birds and have hand fed a few for friends of mine. I am amazed how

quickly and smoothly that this feeding went. I wont use a tube because I

think it is to risky, but NEVER have any of the feedings that I have done been like yours. I think I must need more lessons. You are so good.

  • I wish i was able to hold my conure. he's so mean.

  • @Penguins4ever666 omg mine is the same way

  • uhhh, thats a jenday, sun conures have yellow wings, not green..

  • @BirdCrazy98 They have green wings while they're babys.

  • Aww!!

Haha is that a quaker hopping in the background?

  • What type of birds are in the background? Such beautiful cheeping!

  • How do you know how much to feed him?

  • Omg, is it normal for the parent birds to pluck the babies like that? o.o; Wow it looks so... bare, but still very cute.

  • @TamiDolli --- Parrots hatch bald. Google it. It's just starting to grow it's feathers.

  • I know basilin. I help my dad hand rear parrots/parakeets. But they never look like that lol.

  • its called a seringe(not sure if thats how you spell it...lol) you can get them at any drug store, when they are young you feed them that often, because they can't hold much, but at all times you have to watch how much by the size of there crop, don't make it tp big, or you risk a rupture.

  • I have a question ..

Where do you buy the tube thing that has the food that you push out , I don't know the name of it .

also are you able to feed them every 2 hours ?

  • sooooo cute

  • Oh Boy... He's cute =) Babies are always so adorable.

  • i love my conure man that one eats like mine does.. sunny is a pig .. he likes to steal my corn off my plate when im not looking.

  • lol try my sun will fight to the death to steal my food hahaha :D

  • @ConureGirl81 hey its funny ..cuz i have a bird name Sunny and he does the same exact thing to me ! lol hes 6 years old..we just got him like a few weeks ago from my Dads neighbor :]

  • my family is looking for a sun conure, since i'm getting braces i can't afford a large amount but i will get a sun conure eventually :)

  • Same here my parents said I can get one as longs as I pay for it LOL, I am about half way there, they cost a lot, unless you can get them from a breeder but there are no breeders where I am so I have to buy it at a pet store for $500. LOL

  • please remember the cost does not end with buying the bird that where it starts. If you cant afford it now then think twice. Food costs money. Along with a cage , toys and vets bills.

  • I know but they said if I can pay for the bird, and I have a job so I will be able to pay for the rest anyway, but believe me I have been to pet stores and have asked lots of question and I know the cost is never ending. LOL

  • yea, the cost is like neva ending, but thier such nice birds! soz all the people out there, but parrots are so much better than budgies or cockatiels, may i reccomend a quaker? ( they cant bite hard eather, unlike these birds )

  • Wow i got mine who is 4 months for about $250 which is cheap and the breeder gave him all his shots and everything

  • so sweet! I want a sun conure too! They are so beautiful when they're fully growth. (My english isn't very good). Now I breed lovebirds and I hand raise them also. It is such a great experience and they get very tame. Idon't know about the fast feeding though. I feed a lot slower and they never have airbubbles in the crop. If you feed them that fast, they can choke. But that's my opinion.

  • That's very quick. It may hurt him!

  • aww!!

  • Wow, he eats fast!!

  • you need to find a good breeder in your area, I don't suggest that everyone should handfeed though, it can be tricky and it is very easy to hurt them

  • hi where can i find one young like yours??

  • fast! a little! haha jk i know conures eat alot

  • haha look at the bird going crazy in the back! is it in a tank?

  • Aww, I remember doing that with my little Jasper. x]

  • me too, it was such a wonderful time! And she is the best bird Ive ever had.

  • i have a couple of questions..How old is he in this video? And how much did you feed him? Tyvm ^^

  • when that girl was giving her sun conure his meal than look at the cage behind this baby ,,a Indian ring neck was dancing there lol,,funny

  • I'm just curious up till how old do they need to be handfed this formula? I just purchased a conure who is 5 months old according to the breeder- he's got almost all of his feathers- just a few missing on his back area, and he's still handfed two times daily- is that okay or is he slightly behind schedule? Also he doesn't seem to take to the formula- I don't know if he's just nervous but he only ate 3 cc's today- my last bird would eat just like yours- the new one doesn't seem to like it.

  • Your breeder must be mistaken on the age of the bird. A Conure is Fully feathered by 2 months of age (8 weeks) and should be fully weaned by 3-4 months of age. Some will take formula just out of habit after that, but they do not need it. I would contact your breeder to find out more information as this does not sound right. Do you mean 5 weeks old, not months?

  • I think you were right- I ended up having to take the bird to the emergency room because she was starving to death- $400 later she's a fine and healthy conure- the vet said there was no way she was 5 months like the breeder told me, he said at MOST she was 3, but definitely had been taken away from her mother too early. I'm happy to say now she's perfectly healthy and happy and doing well.

  • aww! we had 2 sun conures! roy and lola and a janday(spelling?) conure called iggy

  • what is it that you are feeding the bird.?

  • Kaytee "Exact" handfeeding formula.

  • i love birds to i have 5 of them my self and planing to bread sum cockatiles i was woundering it you have sum advise

  • My best advice would be not to venture into breeding unless you are prepared to spend most of your time raising/feeding/cleaning and finding loving homes for them. It is not an easy job, and requires alot of work, time and money to do right. First thing is first, you have to make sure you have your adult birds on a very good diet, and that they are in TOP health and shape before you consider breeding. What do they eat?

  • Awesome work!!! I feel the love you have for birds!! My green cheeks just laid 8 eggs. SEVEN of them hatched! I'm so happy... they all look extremely healthy. I gotta get some videos up

  • Thanks! I am glad that so many of them hatched and are halthy. I'd love to see the vids.

  • rofl its like hes got orange googgles on or sumthing.

  • I have a baby nanday conure and it always screams when i feed it. It's never enthausitic about eating. HELP!!

  • go slower omf

  • Certain species of Parrots have a strong feeding responce. They eat fast. Conures, Cockatiels and Cockatoos are some of these types of birds. IF they are not fed in a quick and fluent motion, they swallow air into their crops. This causes them to feel full when they aren't, and can also cause a multitude of other problems. An experienced feeder knows this. An experienced feeder has the skill to Not aspirate the chick. I know what I am doing, but thank you for your concern.

  • Also, when feeding many birds, the temperature of the formula drops very quickly. Feeding too slow will result in the formula cooling below the acceptable temperature, which can cause slw crop or crop rot in the baby, which usually (if not treated) will cause death. JFYI

  • 40 years eh, well, alot of things have changed in Aviculture in the past 40 years. New findings have been established in avian husbandry. I have been mentored by 2 different breeders, both of whome have been handfeeding for many many years, and one of which does avian lectures across Canada and the US. My feeding technique has been learned by them. I have trust that what they have learned over the years is correct. I am not saying your dad doesn't know what he is doing, but maybe should update.

  • Shut up woman(this is monkeykid101s father) you dont no what you are talking about this ok like realy God Damn You

  • I am not going to argue with you anymore Moneykid. If this was indeed your father, I am pretty sure he would know how to spell correctly the simple words. Any further problem posts will be ignored and removed. All in all, every breeder has their own method of feeding.

  • its called short cut so shut up

  • i live in canada

  • i'm pretty sure living in canada makes you very special...

btw u make a great "father."

i also like how u said "god damn u" jus because u dont have the ability to read all of nigo962's comment

  • Haha this is very amusing.. Someone has too much time on their hands. (monkeykid101)

Nito I adore your baby Sun and applaud you for being able to keep up with such a hectic life, and to be able to are for so many parrots so well. I breed cockatiels and am expecting my baby Blue Fronted Amazon to come home in 2 months once it is weaned.

  • pfff!!! almost forcefeeding the bird. take it abit slower with the feeding not a gallon at one time

  • how long have you been handfeeding? Conures, cockatiels and cockatoos are all gluttunous eaters. If you feed them any slower, you chance them getting air in their crops which not only makes them feel full when they're not, but can cause problems.

  • wow, you sure have loads of birds. i have a sun conure and a cockatiel, they live beside each other but have never been out of their cages at the same time, both are a bit possesive of me so im worried they would fight over my attention if i have them out together, but i think they talk to each other sometimes. the conure is learning words from the cockatiel. is it possible they could be friends? do you think i could have them out at the same time?

  • I've had to start moving furniture out to accomodate for my birds lol.

I would think a Sun conure would make great friends with a cockatiel. I have had a Sun be friends with an Alexandrine, a Quaker, and cockatiels. Suns are very social birds. Maybe try letting them out at the same time, but be sure to be right there if something should go wrong.

  • what's the recipe for that formula?

  • I did not create this formula, it is premade. The name of it is Kaytee "Exact" handfeeding formula. It comes as a powder and you add water.

  • am plannig on buying one but how can you differentiate between baby jandaya and sun conre? some says the plumage of a young sun are total green then becamesw yellow when matured, but some retains the green color.thx

  • If you want a bird, please adopt.

  • I live in Ontario Canada to I just started breeding birds I have a pair of budgiess right now that are breeding but I need a male cockateilto pair with my female could you help me out I don't want to give my email on tis everyone will see it.

  • so im not allowed but i insist i can fit them in my scedule ! but nope they dnt think i can and so im saving up for one and hopefully probably goin to do chores for money so i can get one out of my own earnings. Are you based in England? If yes where abouts. i was wondering well when You have a bird you wouldnt mind selling then could you sell it to me and im gonna try my best to get the money aswell. Thanks

  • That's too bad that they don't think you can do it. I live in a house with 6 humans, 35 birds, a dog, turtle, lizard, run 2 businesses aswell as a third job, part time nights, so u can imagine how busy I am, and still manage to care for them all :)

  • I am actually in Ontario Canada. I can ship birds in canada, but due to strict cities laws on exotic animals, it is too much work to ship out of country.

  • hi i want a parrot so can you ship a sun conure to new york wright back to me pleaze

  • woow u got alot of birds in the back ground how many exact do u have lol or have u lost count lol jokin . ur so lucky

  • I have about 35 birds right now, composed of both breeding birds and tame pet birds. :)

  • you seriously are lucky. i have a tortoise and 3 goldfishes. used to have 2 finches and 2 bugdies who all died because of old age.

i really want a cocketoo sorry dont no how to spell it. and i would also love to have a hyacith macaw or a sun conure bt unfortunately im not allowed . so ur really lucky. ur birds are beutiful from what i can see. :)

  • Sounds like you have some cool pets. I breed Sun conures and soon will be breeding cockatoos aswell. I would LOVE a hyacinthe or even a pair would be good lol. Alot of hard work went into getting the birds I have and most of them paid for themselves :)Why aren't you allowed?

  • well in our family of 6 in my house im the only one who looks after the pets so my parents are always like you have your GCSE years now so how are you going to fit all this looking after them in your day

  • How cuuuuute! So precious.

  • hehe yeah thats a baby cockatiel waiting for his turn to eat lol.

  • Hehe, I can see the other bird jumping up and down and stuff in the background... ^-^
