Ideally you would want to choose a type of tree that grow very slowly, here in Northeast Texas you are limited to Live Oaks, with a lot of windows you may have limbs growing inside the house, that would be cool you might think.

Cool tree house. Just an fyi you can buy a cheap wide angle for even the flip cam. It sticks on with magnets so you can pull it off when you don't want it. It would help a ton for filming inside these small spaces.

Regarding the lack of a steady cam that you mention at the start of the video, you can stabilize shaky video using a free program for Windows. Just go to videographer dott tk for an explanation of how to use it.
