@shamusername Does this argument have any premise? I am left wanting more information in order to accept or reject your statement. That is if you care to convince or educate. I detect some unfavorable thoughts about Assange and I am curious what he has done to leave you unimpressed. Damn my curiosity. Thank you.
I enjoy SA and usually agree with his commentary, but - its not the release of information about war or government bailouts that bothers me, its the release of thousands of pages of reports and conversations from our foreign diplomatic agents. We have to be realistic and understand that the US does have to play the diplomacy game - these leaks severely damage our diplomatic relations and our credibility, meaning it will be harder to get good intel about what is really going on in the world.
Are they still pushing the Bull Shit About Assange? Wiki is a Mossad which is a CIA like black opts, This is an attempt to rob Americans of the Internet & Freedom of speech. This is just another FALSE FLAG OPs
So what did wikileaks reveal? That civilians are dying? We did not know that before? I mean It`s been a huge topic long before wikileaks came out.....
It may have not revealed anything too earth-shattering(At least not yet), but by providing hard evidence to the public, it just left the state-worshipers with less excuses to justify their indefensible positions, especially in light of the reaction by the politicos, from both parties.
@Akatam0t0ma justify what undefendable position? The fact that we are in afghanistan because there are a lot of great reasons why we are there. The fact is that wikileaks has done more to put people at risk than exposing any great secrets. Name one thing released that has made you think any differently about any topic?
I don't... Like the position that politicians care about our well being? A pretty popular yet completely unfounded position in the populous, virtually comparable to religious faith.
And I am yet to see a shred of evidence of any leak endangering anything beyond the undeserved prestige of politicos.
@Akatam0t0ma Of course they care about the voter. They may not have 100% interest in getting all the facts presented, just watch a political campaign.
Well I personally know a family of turkmen who are under house arest and are in danger of disapearing. Also the taliban has sworn veangance on those afghani`s who gave info and while they may not be presently threatened The taliban will most likely make good on it`s threats when we leave.
"Name one thing released that has made you think any differently about any topic?"
Like I said, so far the leaks did not reveal anything too earth-shattering, only provided solid evidence to previously held popular suspicions. But it's the reaction of the politicos and their lackeys among the press and among the general populous, who preferred to shoot the messenger rather than come clean of their dirty laundry. That is the most revealing thing of all in the drama.
well, just gov's own papertrail that proves that they knew and permited the crime - both administrations, Obama and Bush. It also ends the superiour knowelge of gov officals, we can read thru the same informations as they do. Read that the main reason for the Iraq adventure was pressure from Israel and Saudi Arabia - origin of 15 of 19 Hijackers from 9/11 - to go after Sadam and take him out. Wiki leaked documents from other nations, it just that the US Gov is the most productive.
If the US gov't wasn't so prone to lying then we wouldn't need wikileaks. After lying about weapons of mass destruction the gov't has lost all credibility.
Dude you are awesome! Amazingly incisive. So, how long before our government starts supressing messages such as yours by labeling them as treasonous and rounding us up?
It has been shown the wikileaks was supported by Israel..go figure. They will use it as a tool to restrict free speech and censor the web..what do you know..go J-Team!!
Jack, you never fail to please. You're blunt, straight forward analysis of every important issue facing this country should serve as a model for American conservatives.
Government is a Trust, created by the People for the benefit of themselves and their Posterity (heirs / descendants). The Charter / Constitution that creates the government is a Trust Instrument, and all public servants are effective trustees of that Trust, bound in duty to serve the beneficiary - the original people that created it and their heirs.
Check out Bill Thornton's audio seminars and material on how to hold your public servants accountable at law.
Yeah we should know. An informed public is the essence of a Republic. All those cameras that are spying on us, should be used in school classrooms and the White House so we can see what they're doing. I don't think that secrecy should be used for anything outside of a Legally Attained War against a Real Enemy.
Wikileaks is a CIA fraud!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything they release is already known, and they cut a deal with Israel!!!! WTF people??? You think the MSM is going to report the truth??? 4 REAL?????
i wonder why the MSM reported it, if info in the leak cables was so dangerous to american lives, because no one really a damn about that video of innocent being slaughtered by american helicopters.
funny, i was also wondering what else is happening in the world that this story is covering---my guess is, since everyone got on the "need-to-cut-the-debit" bandwagon so fast, maybe china wants their money back.
I really didn't know what to think of the WikiLeaks situation. It's both amazing and appalling that people have to go as far as causing an international uproar uncovering and releasing all of the information that was found. Stealing is bad, but secrets like these seem far worse. If there was actual transparency in the government, how would the general public feel, but then again, what can we do?
I think you have confused Wikileaks with the people who have enabled the politicians who are perpetrating the corruptions which Wikileaks expose, aka the voters.
Well, it's not Wikileaks that started wars it cannot finish, bailed out failing banks for trillions of dollars, suffocated the American economy with millions of rules and regulations, counterfeited trillions of dollars, started a war on drugs which lead to incarceration of millions of otherwise innocent people, just to mention the tip of the iceberg. It were the politicians, whom we all know care so much about our safety and well being, right? But hey, let's all just shoot the messenger.
The good that comes out of this is that it confirms that our politicians are a bunch of lying weasels who cannot be trusted. I find it quite hilarious(And frankly, a bit frightening) seeing the same Bush "conservatives" who would claim they don't trust the government, defending it with such a shrill enthusiasm on this, which only goes to show that Bush "conservatives" are as statist as their welfare-state worshiping "liberal" counterparts. They just make the warfare-state denomination.
Also, since Assange is NOT an American citizen, he cannot be charged with treason(A very problematic concept on its own, when it comes to the state but that's another can of worms).
The Truth About Wikileaks:
watch?v=AV5N_2nuYzY
I would love to see any Bush "conservative", or anyone else who foams at the mouth for Assange's blood trying to address the arguments brought by Molyneux on the government.
@Akatam0t0ma I know. I was thinking espionage and he'll probably get convicted.
It's still unclear to me what good has come out of this (any actual example).
All I'm saying is that diplomatic relationships have been compromised, and people who will want to tell al-qaida whereabouts are less likely to do so, knowing that a second wikileaks might happen.
If you tolerate bad behavior more will come. I'd put this guy behind bars.. not only that I'd find that annonymous hacker and jail him too!
I agree, that is why it's important to know when our government is behaving badly. Without an understanding of the way our government functions self-government becomes all but impossible.
Sorry, but I can't help but feel that your frustration may be misdirected.
A typical civilian who knows nothing about intelligence or espionage other than what he sees on James Bond movies. Our government has been seriously irresponsible lately. However, many agents under non official cover were exposed with the releases regarding Iran and I am quite sure a least a few lost their lives before they were able to find safety. Julian Assange certainly has blood on his hands in that aspect. Expose the legislators , banks, and activist judges, leave the wars alone.
How many completely innocent civilians are harmed by daily carpet bombings and drone strikes in Afghanistan? You know, the ones who DON'T earn their livelihood by entering potentially dangerous (or even completely harmless) locales and sharing information about those areas with their employers?
@AlienZygote010 Assange's leaks IMO work both ways. SA has pointed out that we do NOT need to know details that would prevent our military and intelligence services from operating successfully. Under those premises, Assange's leaks have their faults. Releasing the names of Agents under NOC and of cooperating Afghans is a hindrance to both our military and our intelligence services.
I support Assange's intentions, however I feel that he released the information recklessly.
@RJhasFLOW Intelligence service. As in importing drugs and laundering those proceeds on Wall Street. Clandestine assassinations of democratically elected leaders, or in the case of Mohammad Mosedeq bombing mosques and blaming the scores of deaths on Mosedeq loyalists in order to oust Mosegeq and install the Shah of Iran who murdered tens of thousands of his own people. Perhaps JFK's murder now seemingly a CIA surety with E Howard Hunts deathbed confession. Is that Intelligence DISSERVICE ?
@MrRiceowlex US intelligence responds to elected leaders. Our elected leaders have opted for less than savory methods in the past, methods that today bite us in the ass. The installment of brutal dictators, such as the Shah, was one of these methods. Nevertheless, this was signed off by the president.
As for drugs and JFK's murder, until those are accepted fact.....
"I am quite sure a least a few lost their lives before they were able to find safety"
Too bad not a single one has been pointed out as of yet. And even if there were, the leaks most certainly did not endanger nearly as many lives as America's disastrous foreign policy.
@Akatam0t0ma - schmuck...how many Iranian Olympic fencing champions are there in Iran? One was just outed by wikileaks. Seriously...how big do you think the pool of possible suspects could that leave the Iranian intelligence apparatus to pick up. Hmmmmm. Less than one hundred? More like less than 2.
