These are the only 4 verses that contain the name Mark. Now if I was to assume that by his surname that this is John the apostle then he must of not only written the gospel of john but also the 123 john and the gospel of mark. But I personally do not believe this to be so. I think that Mark was just a disciple...not an apostle.
Act 15:37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
Act 15:39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
Act 12:12 And when he had considered [the thing], he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
Act 12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled [their] ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
Why do I believe the BIBLE? It is a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eye witnesses during the life time of other eye witnesses that report supernatural events which took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies and claim to be divine rather than human in origin.

Not one of the 12. Must be the son of Peter the apostle.

Are you sure? I googled it just to see what I could find and it says that the Apostle Mark (who's surname was John) wrote the earliest Gospel.
