Wow, I think this might be the first time someone has hit only 3 pins on TV and spared it because as far as I recall there have been many gutter balls but I can't recall anybody ever getting less than a 4 count on TV. Although I think it might of happened on the women's tour once before.

Iv'e seen pros on the PBA only get four pin counts. Usually its a 3-4-6-7-9-10 split on a high shot. Not to often will you see a 6 pin count or less on the PBA on a shot that misses the headpin and i don't mean a whiff like when you leave a washout. I mean missing the headpin completely.

Well actually when you leave a washout it often does miss the headpin lol! But yeah for the most part even when missing the headpin the pros usually get 6 or more.

At first i thought they were playing the strip pattern like they did last years Dick Weber open but when i saw Pete playing the outside part of the lanes i said to myself, "That cant be the strip pattern." The outside part of the lanes are pretty much unplayable on the strip pattern. Almost like an O.B. zone, or No Mans land.

the pattern is a 44ft reverse pattern meaning all the heavy oil is placed outside and lighter oil placed inside very very hard to bowl on.

It's a special oil pattern, its a 44 foot pattern, layed down in strips. Very difficult.

I'd hardly argue it's a fluke. Sure, he kinda mucked through the first game, but he averaged about 250 on a brutal lane condition for the last three games.

He was splitting boards all day - a well-earned win on a lane condition where 190 or 200 was expected to be a winning score.
