Ise Oluwa was not written by Quincy Jones. It is a traditional Nigerian Christian praise song. The first version of the Hymn "Ise Oluwa" is found in the Church Missionary Society (CMS) Yoruba Hymn Book published in 1923. It was popularized in the TV mini-series Roots, sung by the incredible Letta Mbulu.
Absolutely Beautiful!! Thanks so much for posting! This music has always touched me very deeply. I was also able to view the interviews of Gerald Fried and Quincy Jones discussing the music for Roots and everything that transpired. Truly great gifts they have given us!

Oh wow! 5:04 could also be a tune for a war path gathering of the Sioux, Black Feet, Commanche and Cheyenne tribes in a Custer film. It's beautiful!!
