  • great video, i mean it, really well done. thanks so much.

  • so were you able to determine the reason that the case split? was it just fatigue?

  • Great Video man !

  • I don't like hacksaw cutting, it sucks not having good tools

  • a love story with a happy ending

  • it's so nice to see you happy again and back in biz

  • The failure could be prevented by mounting some form of vibration damper at the front end of the crankshaft that is capable of absorbing and dissipating the majority of the vibratory energy, especially on a vintage machine. You can get harmonic damper from a junk yard, from a BMW pulley then fit it to the hub area. This could save you from another serious damage and down time. I really like this video.

  • Thanks.

One of the common problems associated with steel is harmonics. Gray iron solves that problem and that is why it makes sense in machine tooling. However, when you combine steel components with ductile gray iron, there is a conundrum: steel wants to resonate energy at a different frequency than the iron. By placing a SouthCo Turnlock receptacle mounting the main planetary gear, torqued at 23.4 in lbs, we were able to reconcile the 25 hz harmonics with the 40 hz to equal ZERO. Solved!

  • @JustMakingComments .so happy to here the super brown 300 is back.theres nothing worse than 90 weight gear oil leaking from you best friends box...lots of love from the jersey fabricators xxx.walking the cup man..

  • lol! great videos man, the end is the best

  • So glad you fixed your friend! Great video.

  • I envy you, AmFab.

I don't fabricate, I video. There's no way to know whether my words have the desired impact.

    You have a f**king micrometer.

    Best,

    Arnie

  • well done.

  • luv this show..i luv you man!!!

  • life IS good. love this.

  • Congratulations.

    Stay safe.

  • Measure twice, cut once.

I hope Baby Dolls appreciates the 'exposure.'

  • Heck, I don't even have to measure once - simply bolt the work stop down and go. A monkey can do it.

  • Yes, but it takes a lot of skill to do it right.

  • You look like a new man at the end, I think I just had a tear come. Nice work fixing that baby up, i hope she holds longer then the old casing :). Good luck.

  • I can fix that saw!, replace the housing with a stronger metal, purify the metal, then rebuild it!

  • MOTOR Bilkes Tragedy at the shop.

  • Nice dream!

  • I saw that you got a saw.

  • LOL. Thanks for watching!

  • what with the beer ?? that not good for your

    brain cell's

  • Thank you.

  • Hey, thanks for looking me up & introducing me to your metal shop! Highly educational & great viewing ... 5 stars for you. Keep 'em coming :)

  • Another excellent video. Great job. 5 Stars

  • You couldn't have just cut and welded the old case? Or was it just too far gone?

  • i love your stop system that you have made yourself. that is ingenius. great video.

is your back ground more a machinest back ground??

  • lol That's one happy man. Gotta love happy endings.

  • whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy like parting with an old friend

  • Fantastic!!! I've loved coldsaws since I first met one.. I blew the first chance to get one that I had years ago because I really wanted a bandsaw for the ability to cut curves. Now that I have seen yours in action and your fantastic cut line I'm re-invigorated.. I never did find a suitable band saw.. but I believe that after working in my buddy's shop with a huge Johnson Cutoff and then the even larger Kalamazoo he now has, I"m more convinced that the cold saw is the way to go...

  • cold saws are where its at. Thats what i use at work.

  • Good to see a smile on your face again!

    Good work.

  • I love craftsmanship. lot of prophets had a craft like David was a blacksmith and Jesus was a carpenter.

    Peace be upon them.

  • lol

  • i laughed i cried i laughed some more, a truly telling story of a man and his tools. good keeping the faith brother!

  • Sorry for your loss ... glad to hear it worked out well in the end, at least to withing 3/1000 of an inch.

  • " A man w/ a broken tool is a broken man"

That my friend is true beyond belief.

  • I hear ya, I wwould be doing the same, searching for a backup that is.

I'm curious, how is that UFO attracting device coming along?

  • Glad you got it fixed, was wondering though, did you try Pedrazzoli's website?

    pedrazzoliusa . com / COLDSAWS . htm

    Remove spaces.

  • Yes, I did. They didn't even have a parts break down for this 1985 unit. But after a few emails back and forth between me, Pedrazolli USA and Pedrazolli Italy, it was revealed that all vertical down feed unit heads were interchangeable. Replacement parts to make repairs are not available new however.

  • Even though my saw is fixed and running again, I still, to this day, run automatic eBay/Google searches to find more used units in the states so I can be prepared for the next breakage. It has been 8 months and nothing has surfaced.

  • How fast could that saw cut off your hand?

  • The blade only spins 22 RPM. I would say 10-15 seconds if you could stand the pain and not jerk away from it.

  • I Really Feel That Your Videos Deserve A Five Star Rating.

    Awesome Work Man.

  • I love that saw

  • Grats mate :)

  • very funny (background song makes it even more funny)..good sense of humour..natural-born comedian..la vie est belle d'accord :) bonne journée !

  • Thanks American Fabricator....it bodes well for all of us that you got what you needed!

  • It was sad at first, but I'm so glad it had a happy ending. Tools are such a vital part of a man's life.

  • Parts are always found,...it's the wait that's the killer

remember, there is something to learn in the wait...

How to keep joy and building anti- anxiety,...otherwise known as patience...

  • very cool

  • nice vid

  • Accuracy is often slow, get a tungsten-carbide tooth equipped chainsaw. Those glasses will not be durable enough for this, an arrangement for rip-cutting steel-plate would be quite a show. This would be justified as a method of avoiding, kickback from the blade pushing against the push-stick.

  • why not use a plasma cutter?

  • liked it.

  • NICE VIDEO MAN COOL

  • Great videos. I feel your pain!

  • hi :)

  • That is a slick setup. I can see why you didn't want to start from scratch. Did the head just bolt on or did you have to make modifications?

  • I had to mill down the gib that adjusts the dovetail ways. Also, since the replacement did not have a pneumatic vise, I had to drill and tap a few holes to migrate the pneumatic related components to the replacement head. Other than that, it was identical.

  • awesom

  • great video just watched again really cool

Its like gear head comedy :)5 stars

  • Thanks!

  • i'm not a big fan of shows like this but yours are absolutely brilliant keep up the good work

  • I really appreciate it, thanks :-)

  • Thank you very much!

  • Looks like you're in Dallas? Dig the vids!

  • great video,im happy that u fix your cuting mashine....cya soon

  • The entire head/travel assembly swivels independent of the cutting stock (0 - 45 degrees).

  • Glad you got that fixed.

  • Hope you get through this great loss of a great tool.Love your use of metaphors. We should all appreciate the perfectionist that has a sense of humor.

  • I think the videos are too long. That is what puts me off

  • dude you must be on crack, the good crack! this is brilliant! little long, i zoned out but its funny as hell! id say cut it to 4 - 5 min and it would be perfect. What did you cut this footage w/? FCP? you should add transitions, a cross dissolve here and there can make any clip look smoother. Keep up the good work, cuz i cant get off my ass and think of something this good to shoot... <=(

  • strangely entertaining.. lol,

  • Thanks :-)

  • Man I sorry about the saw.

Would it help if you got a Hallmark card?

  • I never thought of that but it would surely help!

  • Great Show mr Fabricator.. I just laugh..

I kwow the feeling when your tools just brake apart suddenly.. Keep on making these movies you make and have fun at the shop..

  • COOL-VIDEO

  • Thank you for watching.

  • i commented on your last video and i'm afraid that i might have spoke too soon. i'm sorry bro, i think your direction is better than just fine. i was talking out ass.

  • RIP.... saw :-(!

  • Yes, I will refer to your quote also; you had me going there for a bit. I thought a person had died. Sorry, I know workshop equipment becomes a part of your being.

A Man with Broken Tools Is a Broken Man!!!

  • Nice

  • Really glad you got the saw going, I was bummed out there for a minute!

  • To this day (months later), I still have not found a single 300 DV unit for sale in the US.

    I got lucky.

    Thanks for watching!

  • your great...guy..i don't know much about tools ..but i love the way you are..great..

  • Nice shop, Bud. I worry about you getting too close to traffic cuz of a broke gearbox. Don't forget you can always go to Harbor Freight and get the $17 portaband (cuts + or -10mm...it's metric..) while you wait for Pizzaloney parts. Keep up the good work..

  • Just caught sight of your series. As someone who works with their hands as a craftsman, I can appreciate what you do. I've always wanted to do some machining; maybe someday. Was sorry to see your friend died, but am glad you managed a repair. You should consider looking for replacement parts in advance now that you know the hassle involved. I would think that someone somewhere would be able to reman a head for that, though it might be very expensive.

  • don't no about cars, but hope you work it out!!

  • best quote

a man with broken tools is a broken man

i'll probably use that some time

did you get to switch the saw heads around

    nice editing

    really flows

this seems like it could be on discovery channel

    maybe they'll pick you up

  • Hay, it can be fixed.

  • That is strange my right hand/wrist is also getting larger than my left and i don't even work with a hacksaw

  • MovieDemo, loosten that grip and switch hands once in a while. Shower curls if done improperly can give you crab claws if you know what I mean.

  • I'm not in the trade but I find these videos fascinating.

thank you and please keep posting.

  • Will do. I appreciate you stopping by!

  • Good to see the new saw worked out for you!

  • That makes two of us! Sometimes it's hard appreciate what you have until one day it's gone. Take care.

  • saludos desde chile... buenos videos los revise casi todos....Rodrigo Chile,

    Viña del mar

  • Gracias amigo!

  • man i dont even work in fabrication etc... but ithink your posts are awesome man keep up the good work and ill keep watching.glad ya got the saw fixed up and thanks for adding me as a freind take it easy americanfabricator

  • No problem. Thanks :-)

  • I feel for you brouther

  • This is a perfect example of the ultimate video! The content is superb: it is well edited: there's a good soundtrack and it kept me glued to the screen for 7 min 51 sec and I am seriously impressed! This should be compulsory viewing for all newcomers to Utubia ... this gets the ultimate award of 5 super novas! 5*5*5*5*5*

  • I appreciate your comments very much. Thanks for watching!

  • You think deeply.

  • Hi I'm a welder by trade I been looking in a band saw which brand you think would be best for my welding shop.

  • nice idea it can either turn out rubbish or exellent like youve done it well done

  • Thanks!

  • Funny at the very end. Glad to see you got it working. Nothing like a tool out of commission.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Yeah me too. I will never take him for granted again!

  • was glad everything worked out for you, it made for an educational video.. great humor as well as, Dealing with Machine Tool Death, lol

  • Thank you, I appreciate it!

  • woo congrats on your fixed saw

  • Thanks

  • I came from a shop where they worked on eveything from deep well pumps to floor buffers. No job was turned away, and every man could operate every machine. Keep up the good work.

  • Those shops are dropping life flies unfortunately. Thanks for watching!

  • Very educational for real!

  • Hey, I love your work! It's hilarious backed by a good cause. You are the funniest comedian on youtube. Thanks for all you do standing up for America and as a stand-up comedian!

  • WooHoo! "Mr. Brown" has been brought back from the dead! You've got to be excited about that for sure. Looks like that saw is your #1 key piece of machinery to keep you in business! Congrats...job well done!! Take care and keep "Mr. Brown" a buzzin'!! :P

  • The saw is a key piece since "every part starts with a cut". And I make lots of "parts". lol

    Thanks for watching.

  • And so it goes ... for all things shall pass ...

  • Thats great it worked out for you. Your awesome!

  • i can anwser ,,graumwytheredux,, question, by the way im 18, so count that also, and the answer is: if a man doesnt have tools then i think his not a man but still a man has his hands and they are his primary tools so, A man will always be a man!!

  • Isn't it possible to forge a new head?

  • loved it dude. keep it up! 5/5 that's what you get when a video gets this way cool. the comment by

graumwytheredux is awesome. I couldn't answer it, but i hope someone has the answer.

  • If a man with broken tools is a broken man, what is a man with no tools?

  • In my case it would be a *broke* man.

  • Not much a man at all.

  • I watch this again and I keep enjoying it more! Great Job!

  • Cool videos, Man. I've never worked with metal much, but I use to work a lot with wood. Built a few Arch Bookshelves. But I haven't messed with my tools in a long time. Well, take it easy.

  • My clients appreciate it as well. Thanks!

  • I am so glad you got your saw working again! Man! that's an accurate cut! I am really enjoying your videos!

  • Thanks :-)

  • Dude, you rock. Best video I ever saw. Get it? Saw? Rock on my brother.

  • Creative video!!!

  • Glad to see that your machine is fixed and working properly! We are a mid sized shop and the majority of our business is cut on our CNC Plasma table and we try to keep enough parts in stock where we can do a complete overhaul on it! We have machines that we are life dependent on, if they go down we are down!

  • nice vid! enjoyed!

  • Man you're good...hahaha and you're a natural comedian. I was actually relieved when you finally got the part. Good vid man!

  • Way to go man. I know what ya mean when a part of the shop is lost.

  • 7:42 omg! D:

  • Sweet... working well!!!

  • awesome!

  • Thanks for inviting me to see your work. I have seen all 6 videos now. I think your quite funny and your film work is improving each video. I am a hobby woodworker and some day I'd like to branch out into metal so your an inspiration. Keep fabbin!

  • Nice video! Interesting work!

  • very informative, ranks on top

  • 08. 18. 07

Quite informative. Extremely well done. I liked your presentation

    "cat"

  • The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat!

    Intense! Bravo!

  • Congratulations. I love a story with a happy ending.

    Be Well.

  • hahaha! I like it. I must admit before waiting 5 weeks I would have just made another head for it. You probably have more jobs and deadlines than I do though :) Great video!

  • Great Video! 5 STARS, Good enough for Televsion.

    LOL....... EXCELLENT

  • This was a great vid. I was like really happy when you got the saw great story... 5*****s... KluTz333

  • I saw ya Darlin..huba huba..looking good

  • nice!

  • are you from Michigan? where at? just wondering because you said the saw was upstate MI.

  • OMG, you're so skilled and so entertaining! I love all this sort of stuff too...I spent many an hour in the 'shop' with my dad, and loved my 3D workshop in art school. Very interesting! I'm subbin' to ya! Best, Joy

  • It's not a job, it's a way of life. Thanks!

  • My Dad ALWAYS made me keep maintiance on ALL our tools (Im 44 now). In the long run Ive never had any real major problems. A tool or piece of equptment that is maintaianed properly can last a life time. I still have old saws, laiths, drill pressses that my Grandfather owned (or sometimes built) from the 20's & 30's. Not that they get used... More like a mueseum! lol... :)

  • Hey man great video and you are right brocken tools is a brocken man i liked hearing that

  • "A Man with broken tools, is a broken Man" Priceless. I love it.

  • Love it!

  • Thanks :-)

  • GR! VID !!!!!!

  • gold!!!!, anyone who can make a vid of this quality bout broken saw should be on tv!!

    it could be fixed!!!!!

    cast iron welding!!!!!

  • check out my video "rebuilt before and after"and see my pride and joy ! (milling machine) J.W. ps good videos!

  • Hey JW, cool to see you here. This guy just emailed me, interesting videos like yours. Funny dramatics too.

  • To bad you don't live next door . I'm good at fixing the unfixable ! Kind of a specialty for me . When I started I couldn't afford any thing . Every thing I got was broken or worn out and thrown away ....J.W.

  • bigfoot likes it!

  • A funny and gripping story :D
