I am practicing Kudo. I am a beginner in this great martial art (9th Kyu)! I practiced for awhile Shotokan Karate, but always felt the need to have with me the skills of wrestling and ground assets, and within Kudo, I found everything I needed! Osu!
Very exciting! If standard competitive karate is ever to become a popular sport, it'll need to adopt a format similar to kudo's. And when will somebody come up with a redesigned gi that doesn't leave karatekas half naked in the middle of a full-contact bout?!
@Koryofighta yes there are regulations on the weight. They measure your height in cm and you weight in Kg for example 175 + 70 = 245 so this person will be in the 250 category. I believe the categories start from 230 to 270+.
does knowing how to box better than the average person with gloves on help your boxing skills in barefist fighting like Kudo? for instance would good muay thai skills help your striking in barefist Kudo at all?

@shuriken86 Yes my friend Ofcoursce it will, how ever because of the much less amount of wrist supposrt the kudo gloves provide, it may be harder pain wise since the boxers/ muaythai strikers Have much more support through the wrapps and gloves, breaking the wrist or any other bones in the hand becomes easier unless the fighter already has powerfull wrists or grip. Hope this helped (:
@BoulosGH ok do u think it would take some getting used to going barefist for the first time, or do you think it would only take a few moments to get used to?
@shuriken86 It depends on you as a person, some people may have naturally strong wrists and grip, but if not it may take a while to generate that strength. Knuckle pushups and working on heavy bags help.
have you even been in a fight? a helmet that doesn't stop KO's? So they where it to stop their sweat from falling on each other? jezz. Sorry, your full of it, i see that now
@dobberdoss So for you wearing a helmet means never getting Ko'ed? You ever fought with those helmets, or any helmet at all?
I do fight, especially in Kudo, sometimes in kickboxing a bjj. You can Ko the oponent even there is a helmet, thus the helmet does not prevent knockouts.
Or else explain to me how come there are that many Ko's in kudo? novemebr 2009 at the 3rd world, there were lots of Ko's.

@BoulosGH Im more worrried about adapting to blocking and evading barefist. Does muay thai blocking and boxing blocks work for barefist
shuriken86 1 year ago
@shuriken86 Yes ofc, the blocks are basically the same as Muay thai or Boxing

Whats with the face masks? I take it it allows for a longer more spectacular fight?
dobberdoss 1 year ago
@dobberdoss absolutely not. fights have a 3min duration with 3min additional time in case of draw. they only prevents cuts and injuries to the face.
