This ad is playing in my state (FL) and I have to say it's basically BS. I make less than 250k a year (way less) so Obama's plan would be LOWERING my taxes by nearly $800 more than McCain's and since most people make less thank 250k a year it's not truthful to say Obama's plan raises our taxes. Also, why would I want offshore drilling? It's bad for the environment, bad for tourism and won't actually produce enough oil to be of any help and even then not for 15-20 years! WTF?

i'd think mccain would have as hard a time as bush did in passing oil drilling. maybe harder. if we go by your argument, obama would have a better chance getting his plans through since it is a democratic majority in congress. i want to be objective about my selection, though. under obama's plan i get 2.4% in tax cuts as opposed to .7 under mccain. what are the effects if obama wants to give tax breaks for 95% of working families, for companies who keep jobs in the us? how is mccain any better?

You will feel the effects of the taxes either directly or indirectly. If you make more that $600k, it will effect you directly. If you do not, the person who owns your company might, or one of your company's customers might. Unless you are living 'off the grid', you will be effected.
Obama's non-socialized, opt-in, market competitive, healthcare product will be paid for in full by letting the Bush tax cuts expire. I think that product, plus the added income of the middle class tax cut, will affect us to a much greater degree than the trickle-down effect of income lost to the few who will part with their generous Bush tax cut.

It is always amusing how these people think it makes sense to "tax the rich" more. It's sort of like saying you can just take water from one side of a pail. Your tax rate might be lower, sure, but if you lose your job it doesn't much matter - or if you keep it and when it comes time for pay raises they are less each year, and you pay more for products, bills, etc. how does that help you? It doesn't.

This ad is playing in my state (FL) and I have to say it's basically BS. I make less than 250k a year (way less) so Obama's plan would be LOWERING my taxes by nearly $800 more than McCain's and since most people make less thank 250k a year it's not truthful to say Obama's plan raises our taxes. Also, why would I want offshore drilling? It's bad for the environment, bad for tourism and won't actually produce enough oil to be of any help and even then not for 15-20 years! WTF?

Wal-Mart has a reputation of hiring illegal citizens that work for less than minimum wage; how do they support families? The cost of living in this country has shot up but the wages earned have stayed the same. Stores like Wal-Mart destroy competition & the gov't protects them & THEN complains about people being on welfare. A vicious cycle.

before obama can do anything about taxes he first has to let the bush tax cuts expire. before the bush tax cuts the lowest tax bracket was 15% after the tax cuts it went to 10%. in effect, obama's plan will increase the tax burden of the working poor by 50%.

Yeah, research! How could they miss McCain's involvement in the Keating 5? Or his vote against the GI Bill? Or his lies about Iraq being safe enough to go out into the streets without an armored HumVee? Or his claim that the Iraq War would pay for itself? Or the fact that he used his position and influence to ensure that his wife didn't become a convicted felon? Or the fact that he supported the Rebel flag flying on government building in 2000? I keep waiting to hear about these 'accomplishments'. And don't mention his years in the Hanoi Hilton: if he had obeyed orders and been a decent pilot, her never would have been shot down. McCain's accomplishment are among, but not limited to, defence acquisition reform, lobbyist activity reform, campaign reform, anti-child pornography legislation, workplace safty legislation. he also promoted the surge in iraq wich has shown to be a sucsess. and oh yeah his service in the navy were he was a squadron commander. and was shot down over north vietnam and served as a p.o.w. for over 5 years. your disrespect of his service is telling.

If you raise payrol taxes it will come out of our pay checks. And do you idiots honetly think the greedy librals will only go after people who make 600000. In Europe to pay for socialized medicine the average working citizen pays 50 percent. Obama wants socialized health care. So we will all be paying.

You will feel the effects of the taxes either directly or indirectly. If you make more that $600k, it will effect you directly. If you do not, the person who owns your company might, or one of your company's customers might. Unless you are living 'off the grid', you will be effected.

Obama's non-socialized, opt-in, market competitive, healthcare product will be paid for in full by letting the Bush tax cuts expire. I think that product, plus the added income of the middle class tax cut, will affect us to a much greater degree than the trickle-down effect of income lost to the few who will part with their generous Bush tax cut.
After all, it didn't get inversely better when that windfall came their way a couple years ago.

Drilling as the answer is a scam. Any oil found on American soil will simply be sold to the world market. Most of the oil from Alaska is sold to China or Japan, not here. All republicans are doing is pandering to the oil companies. Big suprise.

JFK Created Supply Side Ecomomics and cut taxes in 1964 on the advice of his economics advisor John Laffer. Revenue into the treasury soared! Reagan did it! And it Doubled in 4 years! Drill here, drill now. It'll secure our nation both in terms of energy and national security and it'll create jobs to support that industry. That and all the other alternative and conventional methods to energy independence McCain mentioned in his acceptance speech.

We are responsible for 25% of global demand. No matter how quickly we use up available resources, we'll never drill our way to energy independence. Yes, we use 25% of the global demand of energy, but we have far more than 3% of the resources. Unlike almost every other country, the United States counts its "reserves" not as what it actually has, but what it is currently LEGAL TO EXTRACT.
So all the oil in offshore, ANWR, oil shale, etc. is not counted, making it 3%. In fact, in oil shale alone, we have 10 times the reserves that Saudi Arabia has...

We're going to drill for shale oil now, huh? Shale oil is rather different than drillable/pumpable crude. What scale of environmental catastrophe do you want? Do you really want to rip apart vast areas of the Rockies to extract very expensive crude in the noble cause of accelerating the global clamate debacle?
As to ANWR, closed offshore areas, and the tens of millions of acres of existing, unexploited oil leases; the resources in these areas are tiny in proportion to the demand. Try again.
