  • Hi! can somebody tell me, Im writing a paper on this dance.. Is it money that the man that is not dancing picking up? and what does it mean if a woman is dancing a man stayes around throwing papers at her?

  • @andrea1paola yeah, it is money as a token of appreciation being thrown to the dancers...in that case, the man is probably throwing money at her again, a way of showing the love..that's what we do in Igbo culture..and Nigerian culture as a whole.

  • this sounds almost like the bahamian junkanoo who are direct descendants of the igbo people, the costumes are alike too

  • this is interesting...but i have questions..why there's people taking the money from the ground? who are they? it must be certain people doing that? because if it's not, then all the people there would take the money. and is there any particular mean of doing that?

  • @theia88 Yes, spectators drop currencies on the performer to show their appreciation and "ushers" pick up and remove them so they aren't trampled. It would be bad form for any one else to touch them.

  • The people walking around and in the performance are probably collecting the money on the ground...

  • The strange thing is the guys walking in the middle of the presentation....

  • let me tell you something captownstateofmind. shut the fuck up, you know nothin about nigerians punk. if you don't have any positive comment. then don't comment at all. you fool. why watching a nigerian video if you hate 'em?

  • LMAO!!!!!!!1 LOL funny ass comment, nigerians need to lighten up and have a sense of humor.

  • It's a pity that some Nigerians in North America are 419ers. It grieves my heart. I live in a city where it's almost a crime to work if you are Nigerian,it's fraud or nothing. However, thius does not make all of us fraudsters. Nigeria, be it Igbo, Yoruba,Hausa or anyothe tribe has lots of hardworking and decent people.

  • Igbo Kwenu!!!!!!

  • I was there! This happened at St Mark's Catholic Church Abagana in December 2007 immediately after either the Christmas or New Year morning mass. Those guys dancing are members of an association in the church and the dance was part of fund raising activities. Splendid!! - Ejyke
