OMG I didn't think it's possible to play with such a speed in such syncron... *____*
Shamisen almost semeed like aan instrument for solo or maybe duett ("duel" as how some plays it in an exciting way) but this really is amazing how they are able to do it together and still sound like one.
@brybry6669 u posted: "Why? can't the world have armies like this instead?" The fact that they could get that many people together is impressive by itself. There is something great about lots of people getting together to play music, its powerfull. I like it when they do it with Irish Music as well, but with Irish Trad it seems very rare.. or maybe even non existant nowadays.
They are like robots in the same way a marching band is like a bunch of robots-- because they keep in tune? Don't you think the term "robot" has some bad connotations? Especially in connection with the Japanese, who were stereotyped as "all the same" and "robotic" during WWII. I think a similar stereotype is that all Japanese are business people, but I think that what was trying to be pointed out was that they are all middle-aged? Because none of them are wearing a business suit or anything.
@RokoEpsilon some uses number notations or symbols to denote note changes in Japanese music.... numbers or symbols...for some....is like the do-re-mi music scales......that's my 5 cents worth of opinions.....
at one point, all the shamisen are going together so perfectly it sounds like a choir in the background are singing lalalalala along to each note. Try doing THAT with that many guitars

@brybry6669 Because of assholes and ignorant terrorists. And hey, I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for the military.

how is this music written down?
it's got lots of microtones so i"m pretty sure you couldn't use standard western notation
kylecasp 3 years ago
I think Japanese music notation uses numbers instead of a A-G scale.
