I know that Michael English has been through some bad stuff in his past but I pray that he is doing better and that God has changed him. This song is just one of hundreds written by Bill and Gloria Gaither...if you like this song, look up their others....many many of the songs Christians sing nowadays are theirs and lots of people say they've "never heard of" the Gaithers without even knowing that the songs they sing were written by them!

everybody needs to hear "Mary Did You Know" on Michael English's self titled album. It is an amazing and powerful song.  I will always prefer ME's version than Clay Aiken's.

I love this song! The lyrics are truly beautiful. The first time I ever heard this song was when I heard Clay Aiken sing it on his Christmas album. I love Michael English but think Clay's version is actually better.

To appreciate the version that made this song popular you need to listen to track on Michael's self title album. I heard this song for the first time back in 1992/1993 on that album and knew this song was special...it absolutely grabs you. It wasn't until about 6 years later when this song spread like wildfire. Thank you to Mark Lowry for such an important peice of work and to Michael English for recogonizing it.

the song was written by mark lowry in 1984. buddy greene put the music to it a few years later. although this was the "first" rendition of it i had heard (when i bought michaels first cd in '92) and one of my favorites no less.... mark lowry (with the gaither vocal bands guy penrod and david phelps) does a phenomenal job with this song he wrote 20+ years earlier

Michael English was the first artist to record this song, it was put to music by someone that wrote for the Gaithers and he liked it so that he recorded it.

He sings my favorite version of it as well.
