@fruitinthehouse it's a drawing because it's drawn (with a pen). This series develops a new kind of squiggly cross hatching to produce full range of values using white and black ink on tinted paper. It's all very interesting to me if not others. My art school warranty ran out 40 years ago though the experience was well worth it. And when you finish up, no telling where you might go, either!
Now are you telling me that what's happening there is something like "Dude making a drawing of a stylized skull" ? Or more like "Plotter machine plotting a skull shape" ?
It is done with a pen, so by your weird definition it would be a "drawing", furthermore the dude operating the machine would be the "artist".
I'm not saying it's wrong to use machines, but that this is not actually "drawing" per se.
@firuinthehouse The video you mentioned shows execution of a pen and ink drawing by CNC machine. I fail to see the significance. Your definitions are VERY limited and limiting. See Sol LeWitt = one of my influences. Chuck Close = another. Giacometti = a 3rd. I did NOT title this video "Dude draws anything" - CNC machine pen and ink drawing pretty accurately describes this process, I think.
You're a first year art student, right? PM me if you'd like to discuss your issues seriously.
@aizurie Ok to put this to rest - I was looking for videos where I could learn regular pen+ink, done with the hand obviously. One of your videos popped up in the search, I was a bit annoyed since there's little I can learn from your machine, and so I placed some poorly planned comments.
You do have some videos titled "Mike Lyon painting ...", implying you're doing the painting, but hey, this is your channel, how you name your videos is your business, and let's leave it at that :)

OK so how is this drawing exactly? Looks more like plotting / printing.
If I go to a drawing class and all they do is teach me how to operate this machine, I will want my money back :)
