All of Jacques Mercier's recordings of various works of Saint-Saens I find to be excellent- this tempo, while slow, permits the necessary probing of this beautiful work. Le Deluge will be one of the featured works this summer at the Bard Music Festival in New York State; it will be performed complete. Also a concert performance of Henry VIII another magnificent score.

There is no recording of the complete Le Déluge (The Flood), Op. 45 currently in print. Something should be done about this...it's a gorgeous work.

This is a very beautiful piece that deserves wider circulation. The main theme
sounds like some music used in the bbc production of Brideshead Revisited.

@pokerface127: It sounds like the beginning is in G major (e minor). Then the key change with the solo is in E major ;)
