Africans should build their own countries and culture instead of complaining about what we have.
Hundreds of generations of our ancestors worked their asses off so that the next generation could have it a little better than they did. This is the legacy they left us.
Africans have been sitting on their asses throughout history, they hadn't even invented the wheel by the time the first European explorers travelled the continent.
Dambisa Moyo has initiated a wide-ranging and useful debate about "aid" and "development" in Africa. Is Africa poor because of aid (as she says) or would it have been even poorer without it (as the aid community might suggest)? Perhaps the truth is even more nuanced and complex than either side suggests.
After a half-century of the "development era," we know a lot more now about what "development" works and what doesn't. But clearly we don't know enough. Maybe this debate will help.
Perhaps because they need somebody to stay poor so that they can "AID" them and enslave them later to pay back the AID. When China is no longer doing the work. Somebody has to. They're going to enslave the entire continent. And who better than the most enriched continent on the planet? Educated Africans are arguably the biggest threat to the current developed world. That simple.
Criticised for his refusal to allow his nation to be enslaved by the global bankers. It turns out that Eritrea is one of the most stable countries in Africa. It is also has a stable economy. This is annoying to watch, because the video seems to ignore the whole reason for aid.
The intention behind aid is not altruism as is commonly believed. The IMF and World Bank are extensions of empire. They are designed to promote dependence rather than independence. There have been many leaders in underdeloved nations who refused loans from those empire institutions only to be demonized or overthrown. Muhammad Buhari of Nigeria was overthrown shortly after refusing to allow Nigeria to become a debt slave. The current president of Euretria in east Africa is constantly demonized
Dambisa Moyo she is from Zambia she is an African woman and I personally prefer hearing what she has to say about Africa than Bono! Bono is an outsider, he is a white liberal from Europe. Dambisa Moyo she has a doctorate in economics this woman is an expert on this issue NOT Bono!
She is one of the few who understands international ettiquette and the the significance of WHO should raise awareness and HOW they do it.
Celebrities think they are saviors. Even right now, as we watch the horror in Haiti from the quake, George Clooney, Ben Stiller and God knows who else will be crowding up the airwaves to "gain awareness" - despite of the fact that American citizens have already, on their own, pledged over 30 million dollars from their own resources.
She literally says she is not talking about emergency aid as is needed by Haiti right now. There is a huge difference between emergency aid and development aid.
It is the same mentality. Every person on earth whom does not live under a rock knows of the extent of fatalities and damage to Haiti. The Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, its citizens, have given aid in some way.
Celebrities have to be the center of it. An hour of air time was given to the actress from "House" two days ago, pffft! In times of need they have become just as important to relief as the very leaders of nations involved. Ms. Moyo was addressing this celebrity culture.
@birdmaya are you a five year old spoilt kid? You seem to have just got back from playing with your toys and watched this clip. The girl is addressing pple with minds and she is an African and therefore cares about Africa more than you and Bono-the bastard do, so keep on having your negative ideas about Africa that your rubbish media paints and stop commenting about issue of Africa.

I have heard Bono talk about the positive changes in Africa countless times. What she's saying is just not true.
