So true. I played Shenmue I and II on the Dreamcast and I only wish the first game was in Japanese with English subtitles.

I much preferred the second game for various other reasons, but it was a blessing in disguise that Sega decided to release the second game on the Dreamcast with the native language (presumably to save time and money) as the English actors were just awful.

i just beat shenmue 2 on dreamcast today there's a site that has the english speech for dreamcast a modified shenmue 2 with english dubbed. i cried after i beat it because it has outstanding music throughout the game. This is the 2nd time i think i beat it first time being in 2002 on xbox and i would ditch school to play this game :)

Apparently there is backing for Shenmue 3 by the BBC in the coming months (i think) so who knows..... Shenmue III. I really hope is this is my favourite game ever.

I wish I knew what happened on the ship. (Sigh...Oh well....) Shenmue was cool though. Took me about a month to beat it on Dreamcast during the fall of 2007. It was so similar to real-life which I really liked.

The only thing I liked about the xbox version was the added camera mode where you can run around and take pictures. I love this game... but it takes forever to beat, and that's just the story mode. Each disc took me 1 day.

awsome game, this game could have been better than the 1st shenmue but they made so many mistakes, ryo is harder to control and moves slower, i prefer the fighting in the 1st one, the textures are alot worse, the voice acting is crappier its like they were all lazy, ryo sounded like a robot with no feelings.

The hong kong part of the game was extremely tedious, it only started to get good when you met ren, kowloon was AMAZING though.

Japanese was one reason why i liked the second one over the first...it jus doesn't fit in English...too boring. Still an ace game tho but i'll stick to the DC version.

Oh BTW Shenmue 3 has been in hibernation for years, waiting for the right console. The time is now and soon it shall be released.

Xbox version is English. Dreamcast Version wasn't translated because the system was almost dead at the time when Shenmue 2 was released.

This is one of the tragedies of the game industry. There is obviously a demand for this game. But the problem is the shenmue series was a huge financail loss for SEGA. I hope that yu sazukhi will get to finish this story off. Theres alot of things they could do such as just package the entire story into one game on the next gen consoles.
