  • Girl I know what you mean...I just made my year natural anniversary! I been wearing wigs and sew ins for a year..and NEVER wear my hair out! Tommorow will be the first time I start wearing my natural hair out! All y'all inspired me to embrase my curly fro! Thank u..and if u on twitter follow me... @ReMixDiva to share more hair ideas! God Bless;)

  • @ReMixDiva1 Yay congrats on your first year natural! So after wearing your hair in extensions what was the condition of your natural hair? I'm not on twitter but, if you ever start making videos I'd definitely check them out! Blessings:-)

  • Thank you for the sweetie video and courage.

    XX

  • @TheXixi88 thank you kindly:-)

  • My story is so similiar I did a big chop in '99 after marital split then started w/ braids, etc after a year then in '06 I relaxed but only for about a year started w/ the weavs again. Once my hair begins to grow out I fall in love again w/ the feel of my textured hair. Long story short I am still trying to embrace the length of my naturl hair but my goal is to wear it out when its shoulder/back length w/out a press. I too love long texturd hair but may have a weave addict... thx 4 posting

  • @TheRealHairMaven Wow our stories are very similar. You know I've come to terms with the fact that I just love change. My hair is in kinky twists and I love them. Do I embrace my natural hair? Yes! Will I continue to wear hair extensions? Yes! At the end of the day it's all about keeping our natural hair healthy. Thanks for commenting..I'd love to check your vids out when you put some up:)

  • LOVED YOUR VIDEO IT WAS REAL AND ENCOURAGING GOOD JOB YOUNG LADY AND YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL

  • This is exactly the kind of positive interview I hoped to see when I watched Good Hair. I wish that movie was a lot more like this, but of course it wasn't. You're awesome, though.

  • @ribboncandy Thank you so much! I haven't watched the movie and thought about renting it but after reading all the luke warm reviews, I've lost interest. I'd rather watch Youtube for inspiration!

  • Embrace your hair girl. We are the only race with the very kinky textured hair. We have unique and beautiful locks.

  • Beautiful hair and such a fun, upbeat personality!

  • @sofnblk2 Thank you!

  • nice personality

  • @ladyvybezful Thank you:)

  • you are lucky to have such sorf big curled hair--beautiful

  • @allure2pretty Thank you!

  • Your hair is so awesome! I love the bounce of it, and the texture. I am transitioning and looking at your video and seeing you has made me realize that I love my natural hair, and the hair drama that it creates too!!! Your personality is so vibrant, & you are so beautiful. Be blessed.

    Ebbie

  • @ebbiesart Thank you so much for the lovely comment! Congrats on going natural...it really is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I miss making videos, but now I'm having more fun watching!

  • i think we have the same obsetion

  • @cratos54 , ha...I know right....At least we can admit it! lol

  • yip that's right

  • i have the same goal!!!! i love your personality :) you remind me of me. i just did the BC! and am loving it. is there any braide style that you recommend better then another?

  • @Lolalove3301 Thank you! Congrats on the BC...Hmm, my fav style is pretty low maintenance- Two strand twists... I usually wear them out in the front and up in the back with chop sticks...It's my go-to style that allows me to retain the most length.

  • miss teepee you have a beautiful personality!! whn can we expect to SEE more videos from you!!!

  • Hi Miss Rachel...thank you so! I miss making videos, I started school and it's swallowed my life! Hopefully very soon though, I am getting the itch;)

  • "I have to love my hair because it's beautiful, it's a gift". Amen to that sista! I'm transitioning now.

  • @mochaleo10 congratulations!

  • yay a new natural youtuber (new to me atleast)... i'm subscribing!

  • Thank you so much!

  • GIrl your hair is soo beautiful you proved that you don't have to live up to AMerica's beauty standards AND you dont need a perm or straight hair to be confident and beautiful I am currently going natral

  • Thank you and congrats on your natural hair journey:)

  • i love your hair what other products are u using right now. I'm thinking about doing the natural thing.

  • Thank you! Lately I've been super lazy with my hair I two-strand twist once a week or once every other week and moisturize with curl activator (been using the Care Free Curl lite gel and Eco-styler gel with olive oil- I get it from Sally's. I planning on going back to Qhemet Biologics for my winter regimen though. I encourage you to go for it! Personally, it's the best decision i've ever made.

  • I agree with everyone else; great vid! I'm glad that you mentioned the internal health that ppl need to be responsible for when taking care of their hair (i really need to get back to taking my vitamins -- it truly helps with the retention of your hair).

  • Thank you! Trader Joe's Women's formula has been my favorite one a day vitamin for a long time.

  • One of my favorite vids so far! You have a great personality! Probably to be free from that relaxer and texlaxer!

  • Thank you so much! Yes indeed and I am never going back!

  • I love your video. You're such a sweetie! And yes, your hair is gorgeous!

  • Thank you! Thank you!

  • No, I will not be doing any hair videos

  • I stay sane while watching videos of women who've transitioned from perm to natural hair. I'm transitioning and I don't plan on doing the BC.

  • I know right? They inspired me to start taking better care of my hair... Will you be doing any hair vids of your own?

  • Hi! I recently ran across your vid and had to subscribe! I too made a decision to go completely natural after watching countless YouTube videos! I became uber-inspired! I've been transitioning since March 09 and have scheduled my BC this coming December. Thanks for your contribution to the YouTube Naturals community!! :o)

  • Thanks for subscribing and congrats on your forth-coming bc! I'm still a youtube natural hair junkie despite not having made any new vids:) I subbed to your channel too, so I'll be looking out for you post bc vids:)

  • I thought single braids were a good protective style?

  • I love your hair! It's beautiful. Continue to have fun with it and just be you. Be blessed!

  • Thank you so much!

  • i also find that everytime when i was going natural and i was letting it grow, when if i was dating a new guy at the time he would be the catalyst to get a perm, to hide my true self, maybe i felt ashamed cause nobody' wants to go out with a nappy headed girl, now you have to accept me nappy head and all, i want my long hair back. i want me back. it's natural and in braids now. can't wait till it's out. thanx for posting sweetie.

  • if you have natural hair, never feel like you have to slap a perm in your hair in order for a guy to be attracted to you. You will find disapointment everytime. If a guy is truly attracted to you then he will accept the real you. to be comfortable in your own skin and hair is liberating indeed!

  • I am excited for you! It is definetly a process of healing and acceptance. I actually cried the first time I went natural and wore my natural hair out back in '99. I've learned people tend to accept you, when you accept yourself; and if they don't, you don't care because you have that self acceptance and you don't need the validation.

  • you have the same hair texture as me. gotta love it. why is it that when you start takin care of your hair, ie, wearing the fro, you also want to take care of your body as well ,eating right ,taking supplements. i find that you understand more about what's good for you, and what will make it gro. my hair was down my back the first time i got a perm at 16, becaus it was natural and long, but i wanted to be like evryone else i tought it would be easier. transitioning back

  • Hi, i love your hair and i have a 20 month old baby girl and her hair is nappy but i want to use some thing in it to make it more managable when washing and after washing it. And i am trying to transition too but i'm afraid of going bald, should i just put in some extentions and watch it grow and then do the big chop?

  • Hi Kimoni- I would use a very gentle, natural conditioner for the baby's hair ie, aubrey organics or allafia conditioner to co-wash (wash hair with conditioner-at whole foods. I, personally recommend Quemet Biologics detangling ghee, and the burdock creme to style and moisturize.

I do think extensions can be a great way to transition, as long as the style is not too tight or kept in for more than 3 months at a time. I'd also recommend a trim and deep condition before getting them done.

  • Beautiful. Oh..& your hair's nice too!

  • Why is it that our natural hair is a 'problem' in Corporate America?

    Does anyone know?

  • It doesn't look professional I suppose. But yeah I wish it wasn't such an issue...

  • I love your Youtube clip. It has really inspired me that wearing my hair natural is a blessing and not a curse. I did the BC recently but have microbraids. I currently work in Corporate America (and I hate my job!). I have reached a point in my life now that inspite of what people (including my family & friends) may say about me wearing my hair natural, I feel more sane and a tremendous amount of self-love with my natural hair.

  • 2Headed- Wow, thank you that means a lot! I am glad you are finding your own way, it takes a tremendous amount of courage and strength to move against the tide.....Re: Corporate America- Personally, I feel If we as kinky, curly headed people grew to except our own unique and special heads of hair, the rest of the world would.....Arabs and Eastern Indians can wear their hair coverings/garb and it is still PC, because it's an integral part of their culture...we've got a way to go...

  • I love your channel! I'm trying to grow mine out too. I think it's about the same length as yours, but growing too slow (for me). I'm trying to be patient. In the meantime, I just need to have fun with it. Thanks! :)

    Khi

  • lol @ youtube crack. Great advice.

  • I love you, your energy is soo great ....=)

  • hey, i looove the video! i wanted to know how the texturizer worked iout when you had it. i am thinki9ng about getting one... but just to lesen my spirals

  • The texturizer wasn't good for me; it loosened my curl and in some areas it permanently straightened the my hair. I had to gradually grow my hair out. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

  • oh man. thanks for the info. you are the 2nd person that has told me that. thanks for helping me make my decision :)

  • Aww.. I found a new youtube buddy! You're so beautiful and I love your energy! keep the videos coming!

  • Y'all are too sweet, thank ya, thank ya!

  • yes yes sis I love your energy! I just couldnt stop watching! Your hair is very pretty! keep up the positivity and good work

  • Thank you!

  • Hey T. Love your energy. I too came to youtube looking for natural sisters. So glad that so many of us are rejecting the relaxer. Been kinky since 1993. I'll continue to watch your journey. I either two twist or individual plait and then twist out. see me at myspace/corador. Peace Out

  • Your hair must be long and lovely! I was all ready to go and stalk your pix on myspace...where are the pix? I'm dying to see them lol.

  • omg your attitude is sooo positive! can we be friends?

  • Aww you're sweet....hit me up anytime:)

  • I agree with epoladee. I love some ROSS! Its like a budget queens heaven!! Your hair looks amazing! I love it!

  • your hair is absolutly BEAUTIFUL!!! The bag on the door made me want to go shopping! lol

  • Thank you! I know, right? It's about that time for some retail therapy lol.

  • i dont know you but i feel like i know you. lol i loooooooooove your hair and u are officially my hair idol =] lol

good luck on growing your hair =]

  • Lol Thank you, you are sweet! I just got my first trim yesterday (it's been a year), I was thrilled that I had still had some hair on my head after! Your hair is gorgeous btw:)

  • jaja lol. im afraid of letting other people touch my hair now, it just seems like nobody knows how to handle my hair. they are either too rough or using HORRIBLE proudcts lol i do everything myself now =]

  • you have a very refreshing personality. I have been inspired to transition to natural as well. God Bless

  • she said its a gift lol your funny... when u did the BC in 99 how short did u chop it

  • I had about 4 inches...but I texlaxed again in 2003, and then transition without a big chop for a few more years.....it's taken me up until now to really start caring for my hair.

  • I luv ur energy...and your hair is beautiful I have highly textured hair too..and it took a minute for me to love my hair for what it was...your inspirational...btw what song is that playing in the background... love that! Thnxs for this vid!! Peace & Blessings

  • I am too!!! (obsessed with long textured afro) Right now, my fro is 8". I don't know how much progress that is since I've given up the relaxer since Jan 07. i feel like it should be growing faster but at the same time i don't always feed my baby right (i call her Madiba -meaning water in Douala). tips would be greatly appreciated (this is like the 3rd or something I'm asking for tips on....

  • Congrats on your hair growth! I love that you've named your mane lol.....My tips 1. finding the right moisturizer for your hair, and a oil based sealant i.e, shea, castor oil, olive etc 2. gentle handling (co-wash is a god-send for my fragile kinks) 3.protective styles (two strand twists are great for giving my hair a "break" 4. exercise and diet (lots of water and raw veggies) 5. supplements (mentioned in video)6. night routine- scarfing up/satin pillow case ...Hope his helps!

  • I love your personality!!! It's so inviting and fun.:) Oh and you hair is awesome. My goal too is a healthy big puff as well and I just got my Qhemet Biologics. Hopefully this will be the answer to tangles, some what brittle hair when DRIED. It's the bomb when wet but that's about it. We'll see. :)

  • I love you hair, and like you, I've become a youtube junkie :D . I'm loving my natural hair

  • JezzLouise your hair looks like mine! I saw a couple of other youtubers and I thought that their hair looked mine (and in a way it does. my hair is all over the map). But yours is the closest to mine I have seen on youtube. Please, please do a product review as my hair only responds to glycerine in terms of moisture. Looking forward to more hair videos. Damn! I need to be studying.

  • LifeInTheSunshine, please ignore my comment about doing a product review. I don't know why I said that. Everyone has to try and figure out what works for their own hair. Thanks for your videos.

  • Sounds like we have the same condition, YTJS (YouTube Junkie Syndrome) lol! I am the same way with the hair videos. I too take vitamins, drink lots of water and use Udo's Oil 3-6-9 blend. It has flax, Sesame, and Sunflower seed oils. I find it helps my hair and skin look great! Keep up with the vids!

  • Yes Udo's is great for hair and skin...sounds like you've it down pat lol.

  • yes! love it... i'm on a a journey myself to go natural... lets embrace our hair in its original state

  • Good Video! Thanks for your contribution!

  • your hair is Beeuutifull!

  • Thank you!

  • love ur enthusiasm!

  • Thank you! Love your videos:)

  • Ha ha. She reminds me of me. lol. It's funny, i usually don't like people with my personality, but this video just made me smile. lol.

Lovely hair. I'm in transition currently (relaxed to natural) and taking really good care of it.

  • OMG you are gorgeous your hair looks great and i am with you with the growing out thing my goal is hip length +

  • Thank you....I take the flax seed oil capsules as a source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Personally, I've noticed my hair is stronger and has more elasticity, which has helped with length retention.

  • You have beautiful hair and a great personality! Good luck with your hair growth..... :-)

  • Thanks guys...more vids coming soon!

  • ur so giddy and perky..UR AWESOME!!Can't wait to see what you have comin..TAKE CARE GIRL!!

  • I to am transitioning and feel like you a junkie to you tube but I do go on the forums, and blogs also. And I like to research overall health.Having a healthy body will show through your hair.

  • such beautiful hair and so dramatic I love dramatic hair!!!! I love it!!!!

  • Thank you!

  • umm u metioned using a texturizer y did u stop?

    jus curious

    ..x

  • Yes, I'm completely natural; no relaxer or texlax (albeit 1 1/2" of old color). My first and last texturizer was in 2003. I transitioned with braids and weaves, and just cut off the remainder years ago.

  • Sorry, I didn't see the "y". I never texurized again because it was basically the same as a relaxer. I was stuck with two textures and HAD to do touch ups....I didn't want the commitment, plus I missed my natural hair texture.

  • how long have you been natural. i transitioned for about 4 months and i bc on December 1, 2008. it is really pissing me off. i use a scarf to cover my head. i so ashamed right now. will it get better in the end?

  • I sent you a pm, my reply was too long lol.

  • you seem like such a happy person! i loved your story, and i'm excited to see how your hair progresses. embrace all that hair because its beautiful! :-)

  • Girl your hair is beautiful. You should wear it like that. I cant wait til my hair get the length yours is.

  • Thank you...my goal is to reach bsl!

  • I like that you embrace this beautiful hair.

  • Do you have a texturizer in your hair now? if not, i don't think you are a 4a.

  • No I'm all natural. I'm a combo of 3c/4a.

  • Whatever the texture, it's very beautiful hair:-) Merry Christmas.

  • Thank you....Happy Holidays!

  • And you to sweetheart. Do you have a fotki?

  • No, I'd like to compile all my pics to create one soon...I'm a frequent stalker, I meant browser of others' fotkis though lol.

  • I was covering my hair in braids for so long too. I had to give it up to better my own self esteem... Btw I love your hair ^_^

  • i luv ur hair!

  • Your hair is great! thanks for the video

  • Thanks guys!

  • YOU TUBE CRACK... Yes, my sister! I so feel you. I have been natural for 8 years and really worn braids ALL my life. My story is so identical to yours. I am just sitting here smiling listening to you. I'm wearing my hair out now.. loving me, loving my hair, having fun with my HUGE AFRO! I'm finding that I love Cantu products and the leave in conditioner by Kinky Curly Custard but the gel didn't work for me. Anyways, I just wanted to say ALL THE BEST and keep it coming ;-)

  • Beautiful Hair! Love your Video!!

  • what did you do to grow your hair so bug...lolz

    i love it

  • Thank you....I kept my hair in a braided weave(shown in the videos on my channel)or braided under a half wig.

  • Heyyyy Sis'.... Love ur hair...it is beautiful... and thanks for the diet tips... be good until next time... ;)

  • I love your energy and positivity! I feel the same way about the natural community on youtube, I did my BC on 10/26/08 and I am sooo in love with my hair. I'm getting alittle bored with my TWA so I'm gonna try some wigs as well just to keep the hair drama ;)

  • Thank you! Congrats on your BC. I'll be posting more vids soon on natural hair styles with LOT'S of flair. Stay tuned:)

  • He just wanted in on the fun lol.

  • hahahah did he yell out "Mom, don't tell them your secret!"?
