@rerundadog Um...what? The P4 was horribly inefficient becuase it used pure brute force to achieve good enough performance, used way too much energy, and got insanely hot. God awful CPU design.
Back then, the Pentium 4 was a MIRACLE! Can you just imagine that a processor from 2001 could run Call of Duty 4 on MAX settings, with an appropriate video card and ram? Unbelievable!
@FRURMELLL yp cant belive i still have a pentium 4 and its just awsome not overclocked its at 1.5GHz with 1gb ram and ati redeon 9600 256mb 128bit only 40gb drive. it will be sad to see it go becouse im getting a new pc :( its still an awsome cpu
como hiciste para para aumentar la potencia de la pc con hidrogeno ??????? osea la temperatura influje mucho???????? y sera q su rendimiento sera ese de 5Ghz o depronto un error de datos ????¿¿¿¿¿
Correct. But I don't think a 1.4 GHz Pentium M will smoke a 5 GHz Pentium 4. Perhaps a Pentium M running at 3.73 GHz will. And a Core 2 Duo will smoke a 10 GHz Pentium 4.
well of cause not the early model of pentium m. but pentium m "dothan" is a really powerful processor even in today's standard. it did knock off top end p4(3.83ghz) in benchmark at the time of 2004, with just relatively 1.0ghz, but you were right! even with raw power of dothan it is still not enough compete with p4 at 5ghz unless it is higher clock like 1.6-1.8ghz
My theory was that a Pentium M could outperform a Pentium 4 that is clocked 1.5x higher. For example, a 1.6 GHz Pentium M can outperform a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4. So if my theory worked for all Pentium Ms and Pentium 4s, this means the fastest Dothan-based Pentium M (2.26 GHz) can outperform a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4. You would need to overclock even a Dothan-based Pentium M to outperform a Pentium 4. True, the Pentium M is powerful, but it is not that powerful.
it was pentium m "banias" that stated to be outclass pentium 4 at 1.5x of clockrate. but "dothan" was about twice powerful than "banias" core. and the highest p-m is 2.26ghz(512k l2 cache) but it is outperform p4 672 (3.8ghz, 2mb l2 cache). "prescott2m" may not be as powerful as northwood in IPC but it wouldnt be too far in overall.
dothan wasn't able to make to the light since it's a mobile processor which cant relace p4 no matter how powerful it was at the tame and p4 remain top desktop.
Huh?? No, they overclocked it, which is the only way to make a processor go faster. They used liquid nitrogen because the faster a processor is, the hotter it is.
i have an pentium 4 with 5 ghz - withput your "modding" i only use a water cooler

Go to 3:11, you'll see that the chipset temperature was -38.5C, so the chip is cooler than when the computer is on (or even off to begin with)

an average pentium 4 at 5ghz only had the same performance as pentium m 1.4ghz
and 10ghz pentium 4 only equal to celeron 440 at 2ghz and pentium e2160 at 1.8ghz(single thread test)
