  • Disney used to make the most amazing films which you'd remember forever. Would have a moral too the story and would even help children understand quite deep subjects like separation and death. The songs used to be so catchy and memorable.Shame it all changed.

  • I agree with elliestar88. Times have sure changed, haven't they? The stuff today is CRAP....

  • the singer was Shelby Flint. She had a sweet and haunting voice, didn't she? She also sings

on the "Valley of the Dolls" soundtrack since they could not use Dionne Warwick due to licensing problems. She was great at these themes.

  • whos the singer? i love this song !

  • In our life, problems always there it how you deal or interpret every details, just TRUST< BELIEVE and SURRENDER to LORD .... prayers was best weapons ,,, HE will give whats MORE BETTER to all of us

  • Made me cry :(

  • i love you my baby Dannielle Grace...please be brave...im waiting for you...love dad...

  • i cryed :'(

  • :(

    still makes me sad

  • Anyone else getting a Bambi vibe?

  • For some reason, when they put Disney films on the telly (I don't have the Disney Channel), they never put this one on. why?!

  • @1Thunderfire This is coming on today at 12:30.

  • soooo sweet I just wanna cuddle to this <3

  • must remember not to watch this when PMSing. DAMMIT!

  • @obsidianroselace too late... :(

  • @jwmulvay1

    Would be prophetic...

If Bambi was made after The Rescuers.

  • I want disney to ditch 3D images and draw their movies again.

  • @camiecarnivore i agree!!

  • @Nejifangal1 At least someone agrees ! :D I mean, the only 3D movie I enjoyed was up. A movie that is handmade, drawn, is much more precise in facial emotion in my opinion. You have real magic coming out of your screen. 3D looks like plastic... but yeah, I'm used to drawn movies, maybe that my kids will love 3D animated movies and really dislike the old fashioned ones.

  • My cat had to be put down last month just after my gram died. I firmly believe that my gram is waiting for me with my kitty by her side.

  • 4 people have never been rescued.

  • This song has 1970s all over it. It is beautiful...

  • My flatmate just got me this film on DVD for Christmas, so excited to watch it again. :)

  • I'm crying as well.......

  • just watched this for the first time in years and i'm in tears

  • Can't watch without crying.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its so sad yet so uplifting They don't make movies like this anymore and oh my god bambi and his mum are in it I have never notice that.

  • this just made me cry so hard just like when I was a little one :'(

  • The singers voice is like a mix between Karen Carpenter and Charlies mum from willy wonka and the chocolate factory (original with gene wilder).

  • SNOOOOOPS!! WHATS WRONG!?!

  • That stupid tramp called Penny "homely" and no one would ever adopt her....>.<

  • songs like this make my heart ache

  • A beautiful song for a beautiful-classic-movie. They don't make movies like this anymore, so savor what you've got, wheather it's just your memories, a song or actually have to movie. I miss watching this movie. It always made me feel better after I was in a bad situation, like Penny.

  • This song and Baby of Mine from Dumbo are the songs I always, without fail, start crying to.

  • I remember every fucking song and word of this movie...I can't even. My whole heart belongs to this movie. It's my favorite from Disney ever.

  • 1 of my fav songs from disney!!!

  • I saw this a little while ago and remembered it, tears and all.

Today, I found myself humming it on the bus and I actually started welling up with tears.

Is it strange I enjoy torturing myself this way?

  • :') beautiful!! i'm off to watch the movie now!

  • @NarudakiMadsenKoh Same thing. Would have had to see the film in order to hear the song. =)

  • This was one of my favorite movies when I was 4 or 5. I watched it every day :)

  • I'm so glad she got away from Medusa ;)

  • Am I the only one who thinks Penny is kinda pretty. I mean sure she's plain and isn't beautiful like other disney girls like Melody, Eilonwy, Jane(Peter Pan), or Shanti but she's still pretty. She has her own style and I think she'll grow up and be a very pretty girl. Besides she's still beautiful on the inside.

  • @AzulaLover1 I wholeheartedly agree with you. Penny is ADORABLE!!! No doubt, if she were real, she'd grow up into a very beautiful girl.

  • Penny: But if I don't get back to the orphanage than I'll never get adopted.

Medusa: Adopted, what makes you think anyone would want a homely little girl like you?

That was horrible to say! She's not homely or ugly at all! I actually think she's kinda pretty, she's plainly pretty but still pretty. She's also an amazing singer, I think that the girl singing this is Penny.

  • @AzulaLover1

I agree, she is pretty. Cute, too. Being adopted myself, I can relate to her. Only difference is I would have rather stayed in orphanage. I often get the feeling I disappointed my adoptive family.

  • @Pilotpatty1 I sorta know the feeling I'm the youngest of three and when I'm at school I get compared to them and I'm usually called so and so's little brother it's like I don't even have my own name

  • @Pilotpatty1 I know the feeling too.

My adoptive parents are my saviors, but I can't help but feel like a disappointment. Not good enough...

  • @KMStone0831, "but I can't help but feel like a disappointment. Not good enough.."I BEG OF YOU NOT TO FEEL LIKE THIS?? Remember that the Lord touched someone hearts and they gave you the opportunity to become a part of a 'family' you may not have had otherwise. "KNOW" that besides the love of your 'parents', most importantly God/Jesus LOVES you 'more than you or any of us can ever imagine'. When in 'doubt', look to the love your 'parents' (and others) gave you and know it will always be there.

  • I wonder what it would be like if Medusa were put up for adoption? She'd probably remain unadopted for 100 more years.

  • I KNEW I HEARD THIS SONG B4.

  • i dont know how many times I saw this as a child, and I neve once noticed Bambi and his Mum at 0:44. 'Dont cry little one' ... prophetic perhaps?

  • @jwmulvay1 Bambi was released a full 35 years before this movie....how is that prophetic?

  • @iLiveMusic90 Fair point. Never thought about that.

  • @jwmulvay1 Lol.

  • @iLiveMusic90 Maybe its prophetic as Bambi is about to lose his mother..dunno

  • @GHFiona Lol...a propehcy has to precede it's subject...prophecy is sort of like a prediciton....you can't predict something that has already happened...so since Bambi was made decades before The Rescuers nothing abt the Rescuers can be prophetic about Bambi...The Rescuers can pay homage to Bambi or something though.

  • "Please bless Rufus, and Teddy... And all the kids at the orphanage: Jennifer, Bobby, Mary, Julie. And please let someone find my bottle. There's a message in it. Because running away isn't working."

  • Sniffle....sniffle...WAHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAAAAA! I cry every time.

  • I miss the old disney, until about ten years ago the movies were just fantastic. Since then, I think Narnia and Tangled have been the only really great ones.

  • @emoellieroks And UP. :)

  • I truly love this song.

  • This song (and movie) always makes me cry........

  • God you forget how GOOD Disney used to be when you watch the crap (HS Musical) that they put out now!

  • @elliestar88 I like to think of Walt Dinsey Pictures and the Disney Channel as two completley different enteties. Because with movies like The Princess and the Frog being made, I have a lot of faith in Disney still. But I'm sure we all hope the Disney Channel will crash and burn very soon.

  • I loved this movie, this song can still make me cry I feel bad for the girl. :(

  • does anyone have guitar chords for this song..i cant find any :(

  • I hope this is one of the next Disney movies in line to get a Blu-ray release!

  • It's like Shelby Flint is god singing to the little girl in the video from the sky above.

  • the teddy bears so cute! this song makes me cry all the time and the movie's one of my favourites.

  • It's Bambi! =D Hehe. ...I wonder who is waiting for ME! =)

  • aww, OMG i remember this movie XD oh the happy times :D

  • i love this movie, and this song is always in my mind.. 29 now

  • @NarudakiMadsenKoh

I kinda realized that a while after I posted the comment and then found out that Salonga did a cover of it. ^^; The voices sound a bit similar in this song to me and I figured it was her earlier.

  • i think of this song often, and sing it to myself when times are hard. <3

  • My parents used to sing this for me when I was a child...

  • If I hear this song, I think I wish my mom could sing song before she left me, my father and my 2 brothers :' (

  • @amdadfan

Oh ^^; Thanks for clearing that up for me, they sound sorta the same when I listen to them... But thanks for letting me know. =)

  • @janettucker1235

I thought Lea Salogna sang this?

  • @TheNeonIcing She did a cover. The original is sung by Shelby Flint.

  • When I look at Penny, I see me as a child.

  • @jaderoseofchaos awww me too hon! I'm glad I am not the only one!

  • @jaderoseofchaos I hope your childhood was better than hers though. :/

  • so..fucking....sad D':

  • Aaaaaaaahw (:

  • I used to hate this movie just because it made me cry. It's one of my favorites now.

  • Thanx for uploading...I love this song..yesterday I was singing it, but I cou;dn't find the words.

  • I have heard better sing along songs than this.

  • @thegeezerdan I think the emotional factor lies in the nostalgia. Have you even seen this movie when you were a kid?

  • @XxDJCyberLoverxX Yes i have seen this movie when i was a kid.

  • OMG I JUST GOT SHIVERS cause i totalllly forgot about this songgggg!! :'(

  • I think Penny is singing this

  • @WebkinzTvTable If you love Disney then DON'T WORK THERE! Trust me on this. Don't ruin your enjoyment. It's not worth it from a job angle.

  • This used to make me cry as a kid. I pretty much avoided it since then but I just learned now that it still gets me, and I'm an adult now. I really don't know why - can someone enlighten me?? I rarely ever cry at all and have never cried at a movie or TV show. Dang you, Disney.

  • Every time I hear this song, I want so bad to jump through my screen and give Penny a big hug. Every. Time.

  • @bubblinbrownsugar616 OMG the same thing happens to me, especially when I was a little kid. I just felt so bad for her. She just looked so lonely and unloved :'( To this day I still feel like crying when I hear this song.

  • @bubblinbrownsugar616 OMG the same thing happens to me, especially when I was a little kid. She just looked so lonely and unloved :'( I am trying not to cry as I watch this

  • "I love this song, My favorite of all time, It reminds me, of , when my kids are small"

  • forever weeping at this song :'(

  • can i have the mp3 too? thanks in advance

  • sweet, sad and classc ;)

  • Weird - I've only seen this movie twice, and it was when I was about 4 years old. 15 years later I found myself humming this tune and I knew exactly what movie it was from.

  • FOR ALL OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW... SHELBY FLINT IS THE VOICE SINGING THIS SONG. SHELBY WAS JONI MITCHELLS INSPIRATION IN HER CAREER..

SHELBY HAS ONE OF THE MOST PURE AND CLEAR VOICES OF ALL TIME... DEBBIE BOONE IS GOOD.... BUT SHELBY IS PHENOMENAL AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HOUSE HOLD NAME LONG AGO! YOU CAN FIND HER ON YOUTUBE!

  • If anybody were to rerecord this song, I think it should be Debby Boone!
