  • @XHissyXKinzX And celebrity singers at sporting events would always get the words right!

  • complicated lyrics! X(

  • 156 people dont know that America took an arrow to the knee.

  • @ConorJohnB that is probably the least original comment i've ever seen. congratulations.

  • :D :D :D

  • Man, he got us down pat right there.

  • I am American and I vote that we adopt this song as our new National Anthem. We may have to steal Hugh permanently, though, so that he can always sing it. Sorry, guys. But hey, you still have Stephen Fry and David Tennant!

  • @drdisarper very well said; though I think if we can get Hugh to stay Stephen and David should come to. Or maybe I should just move to Britain.

  • This is about Africa right?

  • What is this song about again?

  • Some Americans think this song is slightly insulting... well... Type in

"Where is the lid? song & Hugh Laurie obituary - BBC comedy sketch

THAT song, is just way more insulting... to all jar makers out there who make their jar lids easy to loose....

Wow, these guys are good at being insulting. *note sarcasm*

  • I'm not sure how can anyone possibly find someone singing the word "America" insulting?!

Fry and Laurie were ALWAYS doing silly things on this show, it was the point.

I <3 Fry and Laurie, their reign on British television ended way too soon!

  • ........The States......

  • Is this song about america?

  • I'm amazed that so many debates over topics, that have nothing to do with this, can be sprung up over somebody saying the word America. Grow up people and stop starting arguments because your bored.

  • Hugh doing Randy Newman...

  • 'MERICA!

  • I find this hilarious, but I have to love how he's playing the piano. Fantastic

  • Should be the theme for House

  • 153 Americans saw this, apparently.

  • @lechaise

But I'm American, and I like it! XD

  • A lyrical genius

  • This should be our new anthem.

  • Ahhh, the "America, Fuck Yeah" of it's day.

  • By the way to all the redneck bigots out there who think this insulting to the Americans, just letting you I was born In the us of a an I think this is hilarious

  • @cuckooclown101 and that's supposed to stop them from being insulted? That's like saying, "oh to those who think killing black people is wrong, I'm black and I kill black people all the time"

I'm not saying I find this song insulting, i'm just saying your logic is flawed ... and I'm insulted by flawed logic.

  • @Anthonyk312 That's a ridiculous comparison

  • @cuckooclown101 a ridiculous comparison for a ridiculous song.

  • @Anthonyk312 listen man I really dont know what your problem is. the point wasn't the fact that I'm an american so therefore its not insulting the point is that it's not an insulting song, and frankly trolls like you have no place insulting a genius like Hugh Laurie

  • @cuckooclown101 I love Hugh Laurie, it's you i'm insulting.

  • @Anthonyk312 You know what, It was more or less a joke anyways, so let's just stop this pointless argument.Make love not war right?

  • @cuckooclown101 awww... i like pointless argumentation.

  • @Anthonyk312 @cuckooclown101 Is it too late for "I came here for an argument"? xD

  • is he singing to a real song and just messing with the lyrics?

  • Hugh Laurie, We love you. Sincereley, America, America-aa, America, America, America, Americaaaa

  • we have 152 anti-Amercans on our hands.

  • ..oh, so that's how you reboot house

  • 151 people didn't understand the lyrics.

  • what's so funny about America??

  • @Mrtinngwe Can't tell if trolling... or just American...

  • @Mrtinngwe its not the lyrics you fool. fry and laurie are taking the piss out of overly paitriotic americans

  • Lulz

  • The States ..

  • I randomly started singing this and "Kickin' Ass" while making breakfast this morning.

    I regret nothing.

  • Really would love to see him introduce the Emmys with this song, I'm sure they'd love to see Stephen Fry punching him out.

  • Only 150 Americans didn't get it.

  • This song captures, like, EVERYTHING!

  • Here is the lyrics, for anyone who wants them:

    America x11

    The States x5

    America x2

    Am- *fall off bench*

    Yep, that should do it.

  • @MsTiffsickle lol Thanks. I was looking everywhere for the lyrics!

  • Fucking mega lol !!! XD ROTFL

  • well i can bend to your needs, just talk to me and tell me what you want

  • I've heard the phrase "don't knock it unless you've tried it", but I'm not sure it applies to this song or singer ! :-)

  • So true. :D

  • They should make this the new national anthem, at least then there is a possibility they won't forget the words.

  • @fredotf2 don't count on it.

  • @fredotf2 I agree, and I'm American!

  • шедевр))

  • i fucking laughed my ass of!

  • Aww come on don't punch him. I rather liked that song.

  • Still makes me laugh :P

  • @schaferhund11

American television constantly mocks not just Canada but plenty of other countries as well.

  • @MrSolomobl True, but I think the way they do it is different. They have more of an anti-American feeling and we do it just for laughs.

  • @schaferhund11

I don't mean to be a smart ass but check this video out, I think it may change your mind.

/watch?v=6PIicKdEF3M (in case you don't know, copy and paste in URL beside youtube.com

  • @MrSolomobl O.K., that guy is a jerk but this is rare. I live near Canada and get one of their stations. There is a lot of anti-Americans things on their t.v. too.

  • @schaferhund11

To be honest, most of the shows I watch are usually American-made since Canadian television isn't as on par with Americans'. I see more jokes about Canadians on Canadian TV than I do Americans... and I live in Canada o.O

  • @MrSolomobl Oh, I didn't notice you were Canadian. I never see American shows but mainly Canadian and one English program.

  • @schaferhund11 Well we have pride but just show it in a different way. This song is funny not because you think it mocks the Americans but simply because it's making fun of Hugh more than anything. Laughing at ourselves is what we do best.

  • @schaferhund11 sorry, but the britons really don´t have ANY reason not to be proud of their country xD i feel sorry for you, that you can´t take a joke. just as MrSolomobi said: america is making fun of other countries too - of course you wont get offended by that since they are OTHER countries. Now you see an "anti"-american joke - you´re probably not used to it ;)

  • @Lilithly You're confusing pride with near religious affiliation with ones country. Personally, worshiping a country in the same manner anywhere would be kinda ridiculous and people pointing out that you do, makes it entertaining, because it's ridiculous. Thus, instant comedy. Everyone has some pride over their country, but seriously, Americans pride usually feels like a scream for attention. But maybe that's just me.

  • @schaferhund11 You dick...

  • i think america america beacuse america america america...it's america america

  • it says "america" and then the "states" because united states thinks they are the whole continent. united states is PART of it, but its not AMERICA! in america there are a lot of countries, get over it people from the states! im argentine! invent a word to say "im from the united states" maybe..... unitedstatesean.... or NORTH american... guys you never learn it... im not the only one who thinks it... people from all countries in the south and north know it too

  • @erabuenaso i don't think the joke is quite as complex as that. although im sure that annoys some people that those from the united states call themselves americans even though there are other countries in america, i think the joke here is just a parody of stupid patriotic songs. some times i like those songs, but i still think this is pretty funny.

  • @topeldigital yeah i think he makes fun of the patriotism from the states, but i think it might be taken like "america (and then) the states" like it were the only one country in the whole continent. im from argentina and a lot of friends think that hugh laurie is making fun of that too. anyway... he is european, i dont think he cares about the countries of the south in that song...

  • @erabuenaso We are the United States of America, which is why we are considered "Americans." The term has been used since the late 1700s to describe US citizens. I know that we are portrayed as overly patriotic, ignorant dumbasses, but I think all educated citizens realize the different between the US and North and South America. Also, I don't know anyone who describes themselves by their continent. I think one would say they are French or Swedish before European for example.

  • hsgjhgdsjhdsagadsjsgajhdss! America!

  • I honestly love how when you type 'Hugh Laurie America' into the search bar this video comes up first, over all the american stuff. Britishness for the win

  • For Americans for don't get the joke

It is funny because it is poking fun at how Americans are too patriotic

  • @DaleWF10 no shit?

  • @hecatia Some people have commented saying they don't get it.. so don't be a sarci cunt

  • @DaleWF10 I see, you're simply a good samaritan and in no way a pedantic ass.

  • @hecatia Sorry if some of your people aren't smart enough to work out the joke in there head :D

  • Why is he so talented in everything? Comedy, music...

  • @AdobeExcel and acting

  • I'm dying! :D

  • Jajajaj thats a good way of showing how obsessed americans are with America xD

  • justin bieber brought me here :P

  • Oh, that was Hugh Laurie!

For a moment there, I thought it was Hughie GREEN.

  • Wait, did anyone catch what he said? Can someone please post the lyrics! I'm so confused!

  • Hugh Laurie making a lot of money playing a douche on American television. How much acting is he really doing?

  • Wow it's wonderful! Such a brilliant variety of lyrics! I love it XD

  • Fact: No one in America refers to the U.S as 'The States'

  • @mackles Fact: No one calls themselves 'British' but we get called it

  • @ms01323 Fact: Hummingbirds are the only ornithological species to hover, as well as navigate in reverse

  • @mackles haha good fact :)

  • @mackles Fact: Your previously stated statement on the state of the states is incorrect. I call them that, and I've never been outside the states.

  • Hugh Laurie is the God of the comedians!

  • The man is a damn poet. Such a deep and complex lyricist. Hugh Laurie for President! OF AMERICA!!!

  • @devak451 i think that's illegal, but sure... why not

  • @devak451 Oooh how unfortunate... We don't allow foreigners to run for President of the United States.

  • @AlienTecA51 ummm did you see who's in the white house the past couple yrs?

  • @Kasrith Obama is an American, he was born in America and raised in America. I'm not sure why some people don't know that. Hell, I live on a different continent and I know that

  • @TheCR155 Actually he was born in hawaii.

  • @MrCherubhair1 Hawaii is part of America

  • @Kasrith Really? I'm as anti-Obama as anyone, but the man is an American citizen. The records prove it.

  • @devak451 you realise he is English

  • @JackHargreave you realize sarcasm exists, right? No, I do not actually believe that this song qualifies an un-qualifiable candidate for President of the United States. Was just engaging in one of my favorite past times- making a joke. Maybe you've heard one before sometime? There was nothing serious in that post- thought that was pretty obvious, really- kind of hilarious when people respond seriously.

  • @devak451 tbh though I see so much stupid shit on youtube saying that he is a great american actor because they have seen him in house i wasnt trying to cause any offence just some people are stupid enough to think he is american. sorry if i've insulted your intelligence or somthing

  • It's an emotional little number. One to really get Glenn Beck weepin' buckets.

  • cool xD

  • I literally cannot stop hitting the replay button, it is so funny.

  • This song speaks to me. It says more than, "America" and "the States" and it raises the question of WHY...and HOW...and WHAT. The song, as is, is the very foundation of America and illuminates the spirit and culture of America. And for this song, I say, and I quote, ........ "AMEERIKUHH."

  • SStates

  • I liked the part where he said THE STATES!

  • Stephen sure does like punching Hugh... ;)

  • There is great need for a sarcasm font!

  • @djl1098 so true!

  • great lyrics, and nice critic

  • I like the part where he says America.

  • "Hoy la po-po-po-po-po-pongo :D"

  • HOUSE! :D

  • @MuteHelperComments No not House. Hugh Laurie.

  • @LaSeuleEtoile -.- i know, idiot

  • @MuteHelperComments well that gives you less excuse to make such a tool of yourself. Oh, and don't call me an idiot because you don't like being told you're wrong. Hate that.

  • @LaSeuleEtoile I would hate it too if i was being called an idiot as often as you. And how exactly have you proven me wrong in anything? Idiot

  • That guy shouldn't have punched him, I wanted to listen to it longer!

  • @AlexBrii "That guy"? That was Stephen Fry!

  • Типа подкос Элтона Джона
