  • Dont't forget 1984.

  • lookie the cute angel cherub baby, sooo sweet, until man made some icky poison cigarettes all for the purpose of MOOOOOLAAAAAAAAAA

  • 6 people are going to be in a house of pain when I'm done with them.

  • @4eyedCyclopes deep and meaningful my dear Cyclops...meaningful

  • This album cover was so scandalous back in the day, that even the pope said something about it. Nowadays, I may say it looks pretty eerie, this little smoking cherub looking above his shoulder. Whoever the artist that created this piece of art was, he or she is telling us something very powerful. We humanity seems to be drawn not to enjoy our innocence, but rather exercise the assertiveness of our instincts, scary thought. This happened during the cold war, a period of misjudge assertiveness.

  • @TheMoonchild1969 That was very deep and meaningless.

  • my desert island lp... sick

  • love this song :)

  • i remember the halls of my jr high school in 1984 and seeing all the Van Halen and Ratt t-shirts. this was such a big album.. ya i said album.. when it took a needle to play your music. haha ohh and go f**K your 3 lock boxs Hagar u douche.

  • u can;t compare hagar or roth van halen under both those singers were liek two different bands but they were both dam good

  • VanHalen765 There's a really nasty SPIT right at the beginning of this song - can you repost?

  • @lucianisidro I think that's supposed to be there.

  • @lucianisidro Yeah my head nearly exploded.

  • Fair Warning, then 1984. If you think this is the best album, then you haven't received the monthly mailer. Oh, thanks, YOUTUBE- I used to be the ANGRYPLANT, but your recent re-alignment caused me to lose that name, and thinking up this name took 4 years off my life and cost me a meaningful Van Halen comment. God Damn.

  • @theawakener7

I am from a BIG Mormon family and this is THE all time greatest rock album. PERIOD. I would "like" it a million times if I could.

  • Best Van Halen album of all time!!

  • Van Halen are my favourite band like Dave, i like sammy, i like michael, wolfgang and eddie. People who dont like van halen when sammy joined are not true van halen fans. Although sammy really did drive the band forward to becoming more famous and writing more and more amazing styles of songs dave has always been a better frontman 1984 wasthe best year for Van Halen =VH=

  • @Spencertheguitargod i dont agree with anything u said, but fair enough, david is a good frontman

  • @Spencertheguitargod i like all of it to true van halen fan

  • VanHalen765, I just liked every single Van Halen video on your channel! Thank me!

  • (Derp) This (Derp) song (derpity) is (herp-a-derp) worse then (Derp) Justin (Derpity-herpa-derp) Bieber!!!! (Derp) :)

  • Both of you fucks neeed to get a room and "work it out"...take your bullshit offline...pencil dick Motherfuckers...no of us want to read you fuckin attacks...focus on the music asswipes....

  • Eddie is my favourite guitarist!

  • Fuck the Roth/Hagar bullshit. THIS is one of the greatest albums of all time. I don't give a fuck how many they sold of whatever albums after this. NONE OF THEM rocked like this album.

  • @DarthMohammed I'm afraid you're wrong about that. Fair Warning was their best by MILES. Anything AFTER 1984 is crap

  • @billybreeze1 Of course I beg to differ, but to each his (or her) own. I just know 1984 is the only Van Halen album that doesn't have ANY songs I dislike. Every other album has at least a couple songs I don't care for.

After 1984? I would be more specific and say they didn't have any good ALBUMS. A handfull of good songs, yeah... but not really a good album, as a whole.

And I don't even hate Haggar, like some people do. I just think Van Halen's best years were before he joined.

  • @DarthMohammed well I dont hate Hagar. But You should listen to Women And Children First and to Fair Warning again. Although there are great songs on each the albums as a whole are very good front to back. I would even go so far to say that the better songs make the other (average) songs seem below average.

  • @billybreeze1 Fair enough. I'll check 'em out again. It's been forever, anyway.

And thanks for proving two people can disagree on Youtube and still be civil about it.

  • @DarthMohammed not a problem and pat yourself on the back as well....it takes two to make war and two to keep the peace

  • @billybreeze1 Is this the part where we share Cokes and sing Kumbaya and shit?

    Heh heh

  • David Lee Roth, deep, charismatic, edgy, Sammy Hagar " I stand here? Oh OK, gotcha"

  • @thisischavez YOU GO TO HELL...YOU GO TO HELL AND YOU DIE...YOU BASTARD!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @thisischavez --- Like I already said......you're a stupid nigger spending way too many hours riding Spammy's old dick.......Dave and Eddie are the only members of Van Halen anyone cared about.......not my fault you are too retarded to understand this.......intelligent people like me realize Sir Diamond Roth is just as important to VH success as Eddie......otherwise "VH 3" would have sold 11 million copies just like "1984" did if it was only about Eddie on guitar, correct? I make you look dumb!

  • Comment removed

  • @thisischavez ----- When you gonna stop slurping on Sammy's old shriveled up dick? Dave OWNS you, cunt......

  • "hey dickhead" sammy will never even make a pimple on dave's ass!!!!!

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds Hagar's a fucking tool

  • Comment removed

  • 5 people have been to the house of pain

  • Do you remember when gary cherone made die hard david lee roth fans want sammy hagar back!!!!!!

  • No one beats VH!

  • see with dave every song was good than with sammy there was only a couple good songs on each album

  • @motleycrue24

Absolutely! There's no comparison-Dave is awesome and puts on a great show, too!

  • @motleycrue24 what r talking about? sam had just as many good songs as dave man, they are pretty much equal.

  • @T0NIN0ofEVE i was expressing my opinion as your expressing yours thats what im talkin about

  • @motleycrue24 no you

  • 5 people are in such pain they missed the like button.

  • @CSXRockford No they didn't they just have terrible taste in music..

  • Love the tune, and thanks for posting, but this copy has a nasty buzz at the beginning of it that will kill your ears and speakers. Oughta be dumped, because there's another copy posted elsewhere.

  • the one traditional VH frenetic tune on the otherwise 'new-style' album.

  • Proper rock from a proper bunch of rockers.

  • Alex Van Halen, so good it's sick.

  • I love this song but, I REALLY wish they had made it sound like it did on the demos back in the mid 70's.

  • fuckin classical riff MTFKr

  • THEBRAKES THEBRAKES

  • I blame Women for liking shitty music, well them and the Rich.

  • As far as David Lee Roth albums go Van Halen I, Diver Down and 1984 were the best. Van Halen II was the worst, and I don't know much about Fair Warning or Women and Children First, but I think they're both average. They did have some great songs, though, like Unchained, And the Cradle Will Rock, Fools, Everybody Wants Some and even though it's really short One Foot Out the Door was a great song with their intro Sunday Afternoon In the Park.

  • I never consciously realized this until a second ago. I like every song VH made during the DLR era. Every song is a winner. Even "Happy Trails" because it's funny. Now with the Sammy era I can't say the same.

  • @LedWilde I don't think it was cause of Sammy Hagar. Their writing got worse. Van Halen like Bon Jovi and many other classic groups declined during the 1990s, which's the great thing about Aerosmith, cause they were one of the few groups that was in a slump during the 1980s, but they got better during the 1990s, and they're still good today. Van Halen hasn't made any new stuff in 15 years and their last album, (not with Sammy Hagar, so I don't see how people can blame him) was abysmal.

  • @19torento To me it was because of Sammy Hagar they declined. lol I like him though. I agree that Sam's singles were good. The overall albums had hit or miss songs. Most song writers try to not repeat themselves so it gets trickier as the years go by to do something new or to keep the music good. There's eventual writers block for every band. That's why most bands wait longer periods of time in between making and releasing albums the longer they around. VH should have some material ready by now!

  • @LedWilde i love Van Halen fans. ^_^ This is the second time I've had a good conversation with a Van Halen fan on Youtube.

  • @LedWilde Which I don't understand, cause if you have something good, you should stick with it until it runs dry and then move on to the next thing when you sense most people are getting tired of what you've already made. That's what Aerosmith did, and they have lots of good songs because of it. It's always about what the majority wants and quality with quantity, which unfortunately sounds like pop music, but I think that's the right idea.

  • @LedWilde I can think of songs I didn't like during the Roth era (I didn't like Van Halen II that much aside from D.O.A. and Beautiful Girls) but there were definitely more solid albums during the Roth era than the Hagar era. Van Halen I, Diver Down and 1984 were all great, where as I can only think of one really good Hagar album, which was 5150. I think Hagar had more good single songs, though. Happy Trails is hilarious. I wonder how Roy Rogers felt about it... ^_^ I love how versatile VH is.

  • @19torento Compared to the debut album, VH II does come off a lot weaker. Still like it though. They should have had something similar to Woman And Children as the follow up instead. But creativity when it comes to song writing is a funny thing and most of it isn't planned in advanced. It just comes out. So, VH II is where they were musically at that time.

  • @LedWilde I think the reason Van Halen II was weaker was they were trying to establish themselves so they weren't forgotten after making the first one. There's a saying in the music business. "You have two years to make your first album but only two weeks to make your second." Although, Diver Down was a rushed job, and that was solid (also one of Van Halen's least favorite albums, so it's often over looked) so maybe they just couldn't come up with good, fresh material for Van Halen II in time.

  • el disco entero es la hostia, puro rock 100 por 100

1984 salio y directamente ya era un clasico del rock de todos los tiempos

  • this was the 'b' side of 'jump' 45

  • The Demo version is better, but this is still awesome. I wish 1984 kicked more ass like this tune. Girl Gone Bad is a great tune also.

  • @bassmanjoe I thought 1984 and Girl Gone Bad were the two weakest, most forgettable songs on the album. 1984 has an excuse, cause it was only an intro song for Jump. Jump and Hot For Teacher are both over rated, but O.K., and I'm starting to like Hot For Teacher more. Panama, Top Jimmy, Drop Dead Legs, I'll Wait and House of Pain are definitely the five best songs on the album, IMO. 1984, Diver Down, Van Halen and 5150 were the best albums. Why do I already feel like I'm going to be trolled? o_0

  • @19torento I'll troll you. (Whatever that means.) I agree with your song opinions on this album except none of the songs are forgettable to me. But yes, Good Girl Gone Bad and 1984 are the weakest. Hot For Teacher, as popular as it is and as much as it's been played, is not overrated! Hot For Teacher is a straight up, kick ass Rock song. Jump is overrated. Not their best one. I like it though. I think the best keyboard driven song they have is I'll Wait. That song kicks ass! Just my opinions.

  • @LedWilde lmao You're funny. ^_^ All you need to know is trolls suck. They deliberately start arguments for the sake of conflict on Youtube, cause they have no life. I just can't get over how blah Girl Gone Bad, 1984 and Jump are, but I'm liking Hot For Teacher more. At least the message of the song is great. I hate it when somebody says Jump is their favorite Van Halen song, cause clearly they know very little about Van Halen. They should at least like Panama or Running With the Devil.

  • @19torento Yeah, if anyone says Jump is their favorite I laugh! My mom was telling me recently back when this album came out, she thought VH "jumped." She said she thought it was too commercial and didn't like any of the songs. I can see her point of view even though I like this album. She likes some of the songs now like Panama, but still thinks Jump is lousy. My favorite, hard to say... Either 1, Woman and Children, or Fair Warning. Or shit, I don't know! I'll just say all the ones with DLR.

  • @LedWilde I just realized Fair Warning and Women and Children First also have Romeo's Delight and Sinner's Swing, which are both good.

  • @LedWilde

Jump is an excellent song. It's obviously synth driven, but the guitars are no less fun to listen to.

Probably my favorite, musically, on 1984 is this one, House of Pain. This is a great example why Eddie is a fantastic musician. He's doing lots of stuff here for rhythm and lead.

  • Are we just gonna let Van Halen fade away?! Huh? No fucking way, dude! Everyone donate today to the "Reconstruct Van Halen Genetic Research Program Fund". The world is crying for them to rise again. Do it before it's too late....

  • Sonic Bitch Slap!

  • nice

  • Does anyone know where I can find a instrumental version of this song????

  • 1:50 phone ringing in the backround?

  • @ClaptonsGod

good ear. he's tapping his (possibly metal) pick rapidly against the G and B strings near the bridge - just on the neck-side of the treble pickup.

  • @ClaptonsGod that does sound like a phone lmfao. I will never know what that sound is.

  • simplemente increible !!!! van halen es la mejor banda de todos los tiempos

  • Gimme the masters and let me REMIX this track! Shit that came out of 5150 sounds hollow and tinny! That board has NO bottom!! I'd put Roths vocals front and center with much less reverb, put Anthony's bass GROWLING in the pocket with Alex' kick drum deep and hitting like a slug to the chest!! Both sound WEAK as fuck! I'd dampen some of those harsh overmodulating cymbals! Christ they're non stop! What's he got a cymbal machine? The guitar is ok but could be even sweeter!!

  • @TheIronKeel hah, it's mixed just fine. this is REAL ***HARD ROCK***, not some slick stuff like bon jovi or poison (not to knock them, tho).

  • This is a terrible mix. The sound coming out of 5150 studio just sucks!! No bass, vocals weak, cymbals over saturated, just weak and thin!! The song kicks ass however!!

  • @TheIronKeel haha dude I can tell you exactly why this mix sounds bad, this guy got this mp3 off of the pirate bay, I know because I downloaded the same torrent and it has the same distortion sound you hear at the beginning of the track as this one has. If I remember, Beautiful girls on this torrent had some noise on it as well, and some of the tracks are mixed completely differently then they were intended to be. Why? idk, its a horrible torrent. go buy the real one and it sounds much better

  • JONAS BROTHERS FTW. Van Halen is SHIT

  • @DISNEYlover140 How long, DISNEYlover140! It's good to see you again!

  • @DISNEYlover140 Get a fucking life you must be the only jonas brothers fan that knows who van halen is. Do us all a favor you dont know anything about music take a week off and go listen to a few bands from the 80s youll learn that the jonas broyhers are nothing but a steaming pile of shit

  • @DISNEYlover140 You need help. That is all I have to say.

  • This is 1 of my fave albums of all time

  • @metalpas66 Hey troll...you're wasting your time, your days and typing skills, all on 1 song? What the fuck is wrong with you? Grow the fuck up and get a life!!!

  • @knoxunflower1 First, sorry for my typing. Secont, i wrote my opinion about the voice of the 'singer' David Lee Roth.............ha ha ha ha..

  • great music...... But the voice sucks......

  • the guitar in this song is so mind numbingly good it doesnt seem real!!!!! eddie at his whammy bar best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its off the god dam charts!!!!!!!! all you can do is just laugh cause its so insane!!!!!!!! i always thought this was the best song on 1984!!!!

  • the guitar in this song is so mind numbingly good it doesnt seem real!!!!!

  • I got this on cassette back in '84, but I never really appreciated this song when I was a kid, probably because it sounded darker than the rest of the album. Now it's one of my favorite songs ever! I just wish that the ending riff went on a little longer 'cause it's so badass!

I also love the way Eddie toys with the riff at the end.

  • Since this was likely recorded with good old real to real tape it sounds like the producer put his finger on the wheel at 0:57 . Not really sure maybe that is just Eddie being awesome as always. What it sounds like to me.

  • turn it up to 12! haha sounds best loud!

  • @musiclovr2 turn it up to 262

  • Damn, how many cigarettes does 1 baby need?

  • That damn solo is figgin ROCKIN!!!!!

  • "Tqwen" your not 15, you write too well, lol. thats ok, your right about music today.

  • My favorite rock band of all time...And the MIGHTIEST band of them ALL!!

  • @RAV52 There is no substitute.

  • Damn, I love VH back in these days, today's music is so lame.

  • Van Halen could play metal when they wanted to. They are not a traditional heavy metal band, they are definitive hard rock but they were all over the place with their musical talents. They are badass and this song is so heavy!

  • hey that 5 year old kid is smoking oh my god the government is gona ban this picture from youtube and cd stores now lol !! this is a great tune !!!

  • @midnitesquirldog are you retarded, that's not pot that's a cigarette for one, and for two, that's supposed to be cupid (or an angel ) either way who cares

  • @codyjt5150 i didnt say he was smoking pot !!! your the pot head here

  • Hits like a sledge hammer!

  • outro WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a metal song!

  • You know whats up ! ! ! ! =VH= #1

  • KILLIN' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I gotta admit.......the opening riff sounds DEMONIC

  • The begining of the solo is frggin awsome!!!! Whole damn thing is great!!!!! What the hell happened to this kind of music! Nowits all bubble gum pop and silly rap with a ryhme!

  • @traceone100 ...Did you make that comment in 1995? Because the last time Bubblegum pop was on the radio - you know, back when music was GOOD - was around 1999.

On the other end, where your comment also fails heavily, Van Halen is a ROCK group, rock being the ONLY genre that has it's BEST music post-2002 (<---the year of music's failure). Example: Disturbed. Which also isn't some "50-year-old men in a bar that plays country as well" mediocrity like this song is.

  • @Rayvn7 the person probably didn't literally mean bubblegum pop from the old days, i think he just meant bubble gum as kinda of gay stuff like owl city(i like owl so don't take anything wrong here but van halen is just awesome)

  • @Rayvn7 One guy could say"Hey man have heard that one song by so and so" And the other guy could yah I've heard it and it sucks! So its all matter of opinion.

  • @traceone100 You're right dude modern stuff is 90% garbage with maybe a few good ones every once in a while. And before you call me an old fart, I'm 15. Yeah. A 15 year old Van Halen, Motley Crue, Skid Row, Poison etc. fan. It's not an easy life... haha jk it kicks ass XD

  • @traceone100 good call my man

  • @traceone100 There's still good music out there. Problem is you have to look for it. You can't just turn on the radio anymore like you used to. I wish I grew up in those days...

  • @1dednimnepo i did grow up in those days and it was friggin awesome the music that was around!!!!! i feel bad for young kids today and the crap that pushed on them and called music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @traceone100 my favorite part of the song i think is 0;00 to 3:17!!!!!!!!

  • @traceone100 MILEY CYRUS FTW. Van Halen is SHIT

  • @DISNEYlover140 hahhahahahaa I SINCERELY hope that you are being sarcastic with that. How dare you even mention Miley Cyrus and Van Halen in the same breath. A little kid like Miley probably doesn't even know who Van Halen are.

  • @DISNEYlover140 seems like you have no life, looking at all your past comments. Go masturbate to billy ray cyrus posters. I'd rather play my guitar and have friends.

  • The best tune on 1984...one of my favorites. I was reading yesterday some idiots stating that satriani is a better writer than Eddie. What the hell was that person doped under? Eddie was the best guitarist and writer of his day!

  • @Progrose

True statement. Satch is fantastic, but not quite the music writer Ed is (or was?).

  • my favourite vh song ever

  • 0:04 What Happened???

  • @DylanBStringer91 Scary as fuck when you got the song turned way up bwahaha.

  • whoever the one person is that disliked this is really retarded. start at 1:45 and go on til the end of the song and tell me that doesnt give you an eargasm.

  • @codyjt5150 well i think they put dislike because it went from loud stereo to quiet mono

  • @frankenstrat25 lmfao, that would be a horrible excuse

  • @codyjt5150 ehhh anythings possible when ur a neat freak

  • @codyjt5150 I need to reak 2 peoples thumbs

  • @Vanhalenarmy5150 I wish I could also. lol, actually let's just cut off the thumbs, lol

  • @codyjt5150 yo i agree! the great bands 2day can cover this song and make it work. who that was that didn't like this song should and can eat a gang of them. the riffs are in place and the solos in the pocket. picture metallica, godsmack or even disturbed covering this song! if u don't like it then, than u don't know good shit when u hear it nor appreciate the original!!!!!

  • @codyjt5150: 2:20 to the end still makes the hair raise on my arms, twenty-six years later... Love. this. tune.

  • @Creaulx This was the first album I ever bought when i was in 7th grade. I heard panama for the first time, and gave me chills, went out bought the album few weeks later and just repeated the CD over and over, i was blown away, especially this song, hot for teacher, and drop dead legs, it was amazing. Oh by the way, I'm only 16. But thank God that I bought this album, I wouldn't be playin guitar if I didn't!

  • @Creaulx SAME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @codyjt5150 probably some sammy hagar fan or something:)

  • @longfootbuddy if that's the case they are fucking idiots, lol. although 5150 and OU812 were alright imo somebody must be an fucking idiot if they love the hagar era and hate the roth era. but let's hope that's not the case... lol

  • @codyjt5150 Now it's four people. The stupid people are breeding. o_0

  • Not just one of the best VH albums, one of the best of all time!

  • LOVE this song!! Dark riff, multifaceted, some of AVH's best drum work, AMAZING outro. Absolutely nothing not to like about this song.

  • evil little riff there.

  • WHY is no one listening to this!!!?

This freakin rocks everything eat this 2000's

  • @VANHALENBEATSHELL You said a mouthfull brother! VH RULES!!! (And I mean Van HALEN not Van Hagar.)

  • @VANHALENBEATSHELL - cuz there all gay and they're listenin to the Jonas bro.s and crap like that. Dave or Sammy, i don't care, they both rock the house!!!

  • And then i shit my pants.
