  • Can anyone detect the words? Or even tell what language it is? I've listened over and over again (with increasing pleasure) but I can't make the words out for the life of me... .

  • Nice music and shots. A dolly and transitions into black would have made it even more powerful.

  • Listening to this, i close my eyes and it takes me someplace else. Its like time travelling.

  • very beautifull indeed, your shooting and andreas. Where does the music comes from?

    thenks for the video.

  • Hey man I have some questions for you....

What kind of lens are shooting with?

    How much the lens cost?

    thanks so much

  • I used Nikon SLR lenses. 50mm 100mm and 200mm. They are regular manual focus SLR lenses that I bought second hand.

You can order the M2 with different lens-mounts. Nikon,Canon, Pentax....

They recommend to use fix focal widh lenses.

  • Thanks!

  • Hey quick question

What kind of lens are you using?

    thanks so much

  • Hi, which of the v1 are the camera who shoot this, you know V1n V1yarayara, which one?

    Sorry for my english

  • it's the Sony HVR-V1 E (european version 25p)

  • hey this is great, just got this cam. i got a question - i noticed the cool innershadow effect you got going - how do u do that? on the cam, is there a setting for such subtle cool effect? or did u use the editing software? thanks mate

  • I think you mean the "vignetting". This can be adjusted by zooming more or less into the Redrock M2 (Depth of field adapter). I was using that for the first time with the V-1, so I didn't zoom in far enough. Usually you wouldn't want that effect or just to create a special mood. Accidentally it works well with this clip. ther is also a great software by "Red Giant" call. "Magic bullet suite" which has "looks-builder" in which you can apply filters, spot exposure and also this effect here.

  • I can only recommend the Sony V-1. Just enough tweakability in detail for the one who needs this as well as a fantastic auto-modus (I use most of the time with manual focus). Nice 25p look and cinema Gamma give the film touch and makes your shots stand out from the typical "video" look of other cameras.

  • thanks. Great video I can't stop listening

  • beautiful stuff mate. i've just got one and i'm experimenting with 50mm nikon Prime lens. no footy online yet.. i saw a couple of moments where the sides of the spinning disk were visable at the bottom..

is your camera mounted 10mm between the macro lens and hood?

  • Yep your right. The V-1 has a "all-scan" feature for it's display and when zooming into the M2, you absolutely need to activate this pr have an external monitor connected. I didn't know this at the time (m2 was brand new) and that's why I didn't zoom far enough into the M2; the spinning disc wasn't visible on the V-1 monitor, but shows now in a couple of shots.I have the Micro X hardmounted between M2 and camera, so there's no flexibility in distance for mounting the M2 anymore.

  • i forgot to ask - is there sheet music available for this song? and what is it called?

  • The music was composed for a dance-theatre production of Shakespeares "Midsummer Nights Dream" many years ago....There is no sheet music or CD of it. :-(

  • The music was composed for a dance-theatre production of Shakespeares "Midsummer Nights Dream" many years ago....There is no sheet music or CD of it. :-(

  • would you mind if i tried to write it out myself and record it (just for my own personal reasons, not for monetary gain)?

  • Go ahead... no problem for me.

  • thanks very much andreas! i'll let you know if i ever get around to doing that (which is difficult with my school, work, and rehearsal schedule), and i may need help getting all the words, so you may hear from me again! *hug* have a great week.

  • it is moments like this in which you realize that God is in everything. i am absolutely speechless andreas. it is music like this that i would like to compose and sing. something beautiful flows through out. i am sharing this with my voice teacher, and my friends - i know this will touch my people.

as for the location, i need to come visit sometime - i'd feel blessed to have a churchyard like that across my street.

    hug, claire karoly

  • I can't stop listening to, and viewing this beautiful, serence and calming clip.

Andreas Scholl is a remarkable singer and person.

  • nive cam sounds like lord of the rings soundtrack

  • Andreas, you are the best singer all the world, I never heard more beautiful voice than your. I love your voice, your music. YOU ARE GOD. -Filip

(Sorry for my english, I am czech)

  • i agree :)

  • sooo sick,

you got that rack focus down!

  • Wow, i almost cryed there. you are really good at making movies, and the music matches perfect. i'm a bit new with video camcorder, but in the united states it's lot cheaper for camcorders, so i wanna buy one :) but, can some on tell me, when you are focusing on somthing, and dosn't move the camcorder, then you can focus on somthing behind without moving it? how? somthing pro cams got? or what? i'll say 12/10 for that movie dude :)

  • There are some that God chooses to compose through... there are some that God chooses to sing through... it is not only perfection, it is not only beauty, it is something far behynd what we can describe, specially Andreas. You ARE the best, humble and generous, offering us your wonderfull voice and music doing wonders with it and everytime you come to Portugal, I always am one in the audience and always feeling sorry when it is over ...

  • gorgeous.

  • I know this video andreas.Nice camera lol. Bravo à toi and see you in August.

  • I can't get enough of this clip and your tremendous voice - I can't stop loving it - and I enjoy it at least once a day.

    Harald from Bochum (Germany)

  • Your voice is heavenly! You already know it, of course, but I just have to say it anyway. Music is a blessed thing, and what a gift you have to be able to perform it to others si beautifully!

  • wow,a great movie and a wonderful song,my compliment. Maximilian,TV - Newsreporter and Filmmaker in Austria

  • sony hvr v1 canon xh a1 ,which is better?

  • I read many reviews about both camcorders. They all agree that the Canon offer definetely more user-adjustable parameters; there's a "remotecontrol" software that let's you squeak imageparameters in detail.I love my Sony HVR-V1 bc. in more than 90% of my shooting situations I just don't have the time to adjust "gamma" "colorsaturation" and so on. I use my pre-programmed profile (cinema-gamma, 25p) and manual focus while the camera does the rest; with great results almost every frame.

  • great soundtrack too, is this a song or did u put it together? and if it is a single file can u tell me who plays it or where i can get it? thanks.

And is an M2 redrock just the adapter? or is it an adapter and a 35mm lens, ( looking into buying one )

  • The music was written, sung and recorded about 8 years ago by me. It was part of music I wrote for a "Midsummernights dream" Dancetheatre-performance of the "Stuttgarter Ballett".

It was never released......unfortunately. Leave me a message in my in-box and I can send you an MP3 if you like.

  • oh man thats awesome, iwill for sure. nice music btw

  • looks great! Love that DOF...I shot a video with the redrock last year and my footage doesn't look this good..I'm thinking of moving up to the movietube or p+s technik for my next little project :-)

  • what form of compression was this video? .mov?

  • I used the "Compressor" of Final Cut Pro and "iPod Video.m4v" as output format. So it's an mpeg4 file. For the "Youtube" and iPod format this creates excellent results.

  • ill give it a try.

  • Great clip and music.

What kind of Lens did you use for that clip ?

Which redrock package do you use ?

I have an V1 too ,and your clip confirm the idea of buying the M2.

    Thanks.

  • I used Nikon lenses: 50,100 and 200 mm

    Got the "HD Complete Package".

I haven't worked with other DOF adapters, but I really love my M2 and can only recommend it to anyone trying to get the "film-look" with his video-camera.

  • I liked it very much, though one thing positively disturbed me. Zooming to an object should be a way of revealing a sight (and perhaps a secret meaning, too). Quite a few times the thing to be revealed was too obvious, or meaning was obscured. Anyway it's nice just to look at and listen...

  • Nice mood, well created.

  • This is sublime! Thank you for posting it.

  • The quality is great but is not true High Definition. It is recorded in HDV not HD. I have the HDR FX1 and it works great and the quality is great. But beacause I didn't look into it more than I should have, I am now looking on getting something that records in true High Definition and not HDV.

  • hello whats the diff between hdv and hd

  • HD is 1920X1080 while HDV is 1440X1080

I thought the only difference between the two was compression characteristics ... that they are both in the same pixel ratio, but one is heavily compressed, while the other is a sequence of jpgs

  • You can get true HD out of the V1 if you get a Black Magic intensity card and run the signal out your HDMI port bypassing the hdv compression codec. Currently it's the only way to get true HD unless you want to get the redone camera at around 18,000. I don't like hdv much either, but a $250 dollar black magic card and a cheap computer can give you uncompressed hd at around a gig a minute.

  • Beautifull combination of music and video. I like the slowness in the movie.

  • I liked the video although I thought I could have replicated a lot of those shots without the adapter simply by backing the camera up and zooming in to the foreground subject. The kinds of shots that I would like to see demo'd with the lense adapters are like a someone in a passenger seat of a car shooting the driver and see the kind of depth of field ( or lack of it ) possible in that situation.

  • question. I have a V1u and a crappy computer to edit standard def only.

If I use a computer that is HD capable, can I output my video res at 1920x1080 to play on a regular dvd, to be displayed on non-HD televisions?

The movie Wolf Creek made a comparison to shooting the movie highdef, as rather than standard dv and showed the difference.

Can I expect some difference too?

    Thanks.

  • It's going to be either HD or SD. The medium and monitor need to be HD compatible in order to display the higher resolution.I still think that editing in HD and applying all necessary filters and crossfades in high-resolution before exporting the project in SD in order to burn it on a regular DVD will be the best solution.

  • Nice colours, contrasts. But the barrel disortion and bokeh is terrible!

it looks like a fisheye almost

  • This is Excellent.

  • Nu even vervelend doen. Ik wou mijn woorden even veranderen.

  • Beautiful architecture, grave stones with inscriptions, three crucifixes. Death is very evident. Yet it isn't sad- the flowes, the town and the cars- everyday life gife hope that life goes on after death. Another message on account!

  • Tief berührt bin ich. Wie immer, wenn ich Andreas Scholl höre...

  • I don't speak German but do understand it and totally agree with you. Tief beruhrt bin ich auch!!

    Lucy

  • templarCH is Andreas Scholl????

  • :))

  • Quite beautiful...

  • Beautiful voice man, love the images too. I have the Mattäus Passion CD and am really admired of your work. Congratulations.

  • got ya. I think I'll order my letus adapter next week. I want it now, but I'll wait.

where do you purchas lenses at? I dont know how to purchas a lense for an adapter; what to look for.

Is there a place that sell them pretty cheap?

  • big thanks for that pic. I look forward to it. I am moments away from deciding to purchas a letus adapter for my V1. I can't afford the redrock adapter.

Is there a part you can purchas so you can zoom all the way out? Or is that lost for good, when add this adapter to your camera? I would like to be able to zoom.

  • In principle you have a certain amount of "zoom-range" when you zoom into the image of your DOF adapter. The problem is, that on the near end you will loose focus and on the far end you'll get vignetting. It's best to do your back-focussing properly and then not touch the zoom of your V1 anymore. The vignetting in this clip happend because I tried to zoom out a bit and went too far. It will take a while to get used to fixed focus lenses, but they will give you the best results..

  • I just got my letus 35 adapter. I can't wait until my lens gets here.

Yeah, the zoom is lost. I will miss it, but hopefully the areas where this adapter shines will dry my tears.

When you zoom out ALL THE WAY, do you see a long hallway inside your adapter?

  • niiyce, i like!

the road at the end, is it a highway?

    you know wha ah meaah?

  • whats with the vignetting haze around the edges. They're dark. Can you fix that?

  • I simply forgot to zoom far enough into the M2 image; one clip even shows the rotating disc...

Now I know that I need to use the "all-scan" feature of the Sony V1, since the LCD doesn't show the complete image that's being recorded and there can be vignetting even if it doesn't show on the LCD. Other than that the Redrock rig is fairly simple to use.(even back-focussing happens quickly now with "all scan" and "peaking" being used) I'll try to post a photo of the entire set-up next week.

  • nice. do you have video of your setup?

  • Scholl's hometown is such a quiet and venerable place, full of religious mood.Cars and cemetery, everything is just living in a harmonic peace. Thanks a lot for uploading the video!

  • th....................x A

  • Autos? Hm.. merkwürdig.. Ich habe in erster Linie die Blumen gesehen. Na ja, vielleicht ist das eine Sache der Einstellung.

  • Could it be to mirror the contrast between the serenity and beauty of the old times and the hectic chaos of our time? It was startling for me to see the cars at the end.. Just pulled me out of the dreamlike tranquility of the church yard and woke me up to the reality..
