  • Insole flip-flops, Haha love it!

  • is this at walasi-yi?

  • Closed cell foam pads don't work well in the shelters--ouch--even doubled over. An air pad like the neo air weighs much less than a thermarest and saves pack volume.

The camp sandal is a neat idea. I saw that a lot. But if you get food and gear pack wt down to 20-25 lbs, you can hike with something like an Asics Trail Runner Sensor 4, then it will be easier to get into when you need to run to the privy, and you won't need a camp shoe to boot!

  • I was fine with a Mountain Hardwear Phantom 32 starting Apr 20, 2010. I also combined layering (polypro thermals and a midwt fleece pullover) which I abandoned a little way beyond the Smokies.

  • The difference in a hammock verses the ground is tremendous.

Just imagine having a hammock setup in your backyard on a beautiful spring day...

  • Your hammock is WAY to bulky... You might as well carry a tent. Get a Grand Trunk Nano 7; it's nylon and weighs only 7 oz. Packs to the size of your hand

  • @HammockerSam that is a bridge style hammock and not a gathered end hammock and that is his under quilt as well.

  • @HammockerSam Actually, the reason its bulky is that his underquilt was already attached to the hammock. And it looks like he didn't have it in a compression sack, just a simply stuff sack.

  • @lilricky2515 Ah, I see. I feel like a douche for having posting that comment, so everyone ignore it, and me...

  • nice idea for shoes at the end there but u can just go barefoot. natives only wore shoes in the winter (if it was a cold climate. for a ground pad i suggest the neo air in large. large is not much heavier but is a nice luxury if u don't have a ground tarp or even if u do. and it fits flat in ur bag. keeping ur neck warm helps a lot (bandana, carry 2) wear all black, it doesn't show dirt.

  • Where do you get those hammock poles?

  • What ???? Can't hear ya.....

  • Love the camp shoes!

But I know a better light.. the Photon Freedom micro LED. Good brightness, good light distribution, reliable, and you could carry 2 and they'd weigh less than that little headlamp.

  • with all those layers and sleeping bag you can only get down to 10 degrees?

My british army bag has a -18c survival rating along with a microfibre fleece liner and layered clothing you could probibly be comfy at that rating as well, on the minus side the bag alone weighs 3kg :S but i now do my camping on a bmw gs1100 motor cycle ;)

  • and how much does it weigh???

  • I use a military wool blanket in my hammock and it works great. they are a bit heavy but its so friggin versital i dont want to leave it. lol.

  • you should try the hennessy hammock kinda spendy but you can find great deals on ebay and its light and packs very small and comes wit a fly

  • i wish i had a camera poor men do with less

  • great videos, very imformative and concise.
