  • I think the video should be re-named to "Tony Blair skewers Ming Campbell."

  • Blair is most respected speech maker in UK history, Bless him

  • blair owned!!!

  • @mellowNdark heres an idea for you, go eat shit you gobshite. My spelling was not ment to be correct anyway. You horrible larbour following twat

  • Mong Campell more like.

  • I'd say Blair came off quite well- he shouldn't be debating with nobodies in the Lib Dems, he should be leading, and he did. He's got other things on, because, oh yeah, PM much? It was a stupid argument. The point he made was totally right, against publicity-grabbing withdrawal plans. Classic Lib Dem fail.

And constitutionally, he is the PM, so he doesn't necessarily need MPs to back a war.

  • Comment removed

  • wouldve been nice to see Blair's response to the last remark/question

  • Wow, Parliment makes the American Congress look very boring in comparison.

  • @gtafan47 It's a grand old thing called the Westminster System of government. The best in the World. Get your Obama into a room full of these sorts of people and he would be leaving office the next day.

  • He hardly demolished him?

  • @NaMgKCa

    merely butt-raped

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Campbell does well here, he definately raises some good points and talks the talk well

  • Oh, please... Tony was excellent in that piece. The Liberal Democrats have been disgustingly frivolous with their policy and comments on the military intervention in Iraq.

  • @ubernaffa

Well said. Blair had far more substance in this particular clip.

  • guys... it's politics... nobody gets to the top with their hands clean... nobody

  • Not a skewering at all!!! God help us if we had spineless liberals in complete charge of our country. British would cease to exist!!

  • minge campbell has no integrity...he is not honourable and was involved in the expenses scandal. thieving fooker!

  • It's a never ending cycle, Labour spend, spend, spend on the public services bankrupting the country, then the Tories take over and cut, cut, cut on the public services demoralising the country. Each of them fucking the place up in their own unique ways. Vote LIB DEM.

  • On a strategic front, Tony Blair is technically correct.

If in warfare the enemy knows of a specific withdrawal date regardless of conditions, they would simply lie low until a withdrawal is implemented.

That the Allied Forces should have been involved in Iraq in the first place - now that WAS debatable.

  • @RussTube59 Tony Blair is never correct. Anything he says or does is wrong. That is why he will go down as one of the worst Prime Ministers this country has ever had.

  • @rfitzhen Tony Blair was a disgrace. You know at one time there was a thing known as High Treason, a crime commited against the state and/or its citizens. Thanks to Tony Blair many of this country's citizens lie dead or mutilated from time spent in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and its civillian populace live now under a higher threat of its safety from terrorists than before. All through your LIES Blair. Blair your one lucky cunt they took away the block, cos your neck should be on it!!

  • We got Rage Against the Machine to #1, we can get Nick Clegg into #10! VOTE LIB DEM 2010!!!!!

  • @IAmTheWalrusBlog Nothing could be more disastrous for this country than a Liberal government. It is the left wing Labour ideology times TEN. We are in the catastrophic mess we are because of spineless unprincipled left wing idealology.

  • dont you feel stupid now?

  • @uncleemph i respect Bush and ive heard better about bush than i'm hearing about Obama at the moment. But i'm sorry to break the news to you that Tony Blair is a Socialist through and through, and a good one at that, as is Gordon Brown.

  • Blair was right. Thanks to the leadership and respect between him and George Bush the Anglo-American World Power prevails again in Iraq. Socialist, communists and muslims have a hard time with saying there was a victory in Iraq.

  • Labour's 12-year record on street crime and politically correct loopy laws catches them out.

Johnathan Leftwinger MP is only satire. But the comments underneath my recent video show that there are many loopy-Liberal, rubbish-spouting Johnathans in real life, keen to defend criminals and lambaste victims.

Title: NEW LABOUR EQUALS TREACHERY: CRIME

  • Look at Iraq now fuckers...job well done.

  • i think blair made much better sense. it simply is more logical to see that the conditions in the field are ripe for a withdrawl instead of living a vacoum. british politicians should learn from their own histiory and not repeat their own mistakes. for example, in 1948.

  • yes but when we do pull out they will just go back to the same shit mate!

  • career politicians down south, the SNP is popular up here because they actually give 2 shits about us

  • Agreed. Most of the "career politicians down south" are Scottish though!

Take them back, with our pleasure.

  • Load of crap. They're politicians, what makes you think they're different? Maybe because you support them? You can say the same about any party, it doesn't make it the truth. Labour brought in the minimum wage, created the Scottish Parliament, brought in Human Rights, strengthened Health and Safety legislation. Are you saying Labour doesn't give a shit? Didn't think so.

  • P.S: I'm still waiting on my nephews class sizes to be reduced. It was in their manifesto, y'know, the reason why people elected them? At least Labour and the Liberal Democrats funded new schools, none have been funded under the SNP.

  • @TheSunzuki1 conservatives will reduce class sizes, labour have ruined this counrty though, and now it's the tories who have to get us out of their mess....again!

  • MP's in labour and the tory party nothing then buisnessman who dont represent us 1 little bit...just men in suits who want nothing but money

  • I do not get the characterization of the exchange in this video clip.

1A: On one end is a man--earnest in his idealism, no doubt--who wants deployed forces to be withdrawn by a certain date REGARDLESS OF THE SITUATION ON THE GROUND.

1B: On the other end is a man who points out precisely that--that the movement of troops is not determined by arbitrarily-set dates but by the situation on the ground.

    . . .

  • 2 The first man further asserts that the PM must then come and debate the question--which is absurd

2-A because government is not obliged to repeat its reasons frequently when there are no changes to it nor to factors affecting it one way or another; and

2-B because the nature of the LibDems' UTOPIAN IDEALISM is that nothing which government could say or do on this matter is ever going to persuade them ... unless government manages to bring about Utopia itself.

    . . .

  • 3 The first man then, in a last gasp, points out that "troops are at risk everyday in respect of their lives" ...

Of course they are, you Bloody Senile Fool! They are in the armed forces and they are on deployment!

3-A Where does Campbell expect troops to be deployed--in places where they are safe? ... why then would there be need to deploy them to begin with?

    . . .

  • 3-B If the LibDems expect British troops to be limited to defense of the country against invaders, then in the spirit of CONSISTENCY OF PRINCIPLE they should call for the country's withdrawal from NATO and an automatic opt-out of all UN peacekeeping activities.

  • tonny blair got issoyued with an ass wooping.

  • Well done, Ming.

  • There will be much debate on the issyoo of Iraq once the inquiry gets underway.

  • lies load a bollocks of and

    rearrange to decode the message.

  • gordon borwn looks stoned :S blair is so full of nonsense.

  • thats because he smoked some hash with blair :L

no im joking he was born like that

  • looked like Blair got the better of that tbh.

  • Ming is an old fuck

  • Actor Traitor War Criminal

  • Wasn`t ming a character in Flash Gordon? hence the saying "she/he`s a minger"

  • His name is actually Menzies, its a scottish name, pronounced ming-gus. Hence abreviated to Ming by most. But yes ming the merciless was in Flash Gordon.

  • The BNP are a racist party (the only allow whites to join, and for some reason believe that non-whites are unable to be culturally british where as whites, no matter where they come from, can) who play on religious alliegences to scare people into voting for them and rely on incitement of religious and racial hatred to play on xenophobic stereotypes to clammer as much support as they can.

  • @hypnoticmonkey88 Did u read that out of a book?

  • I'm sorry, Churchill was a great war time leader, his second term was awful, he is certainly not the greatest primeminister ever. Attlee in my opinion is however, followed by Blair.

  • Atlee only managed to achieve what he did because the Americans under the Marshall plan gave him a massive loan which we have only just managed to pay off. Blair was a frankly awful PM, and together with Brown, he is mostly responsible for the problems this country faces in terms of social and economic breakdown. Thatcher was the greatest Prime Minister this country has ever had, and is ever likely to have.

  • In many ways Thatcher was a brilliant PM, but if her plans were fully followed through, we'd probably end up with a much larger abject povery rate with American style health care that's great but becomes the biggest cause of bankruptcy for the middle class.

  • The American healthcare system isn't free market. Medicare for example state subsidies old people.

  • And most retired people don't even benefit from it. Neither does Medicaid which only supports a fraction of its intended population. The vast majority of people in the US have two options: get it through and employer which has become incredibly difficult or spend a fortune and buy a plan. Over a third risk it and don't bother.

  • Their problem not mine.

  • Ming Campbell.. just another weak, over-prompted Scottish tit..

    Just like Blair in fact.

  • Alastair Cambells fucking puppet

  • I think the problem with Blair was that his heart was in the right place but his head wouldn't follow. A strong prime minister who happened to make the wrong decision at the wrong time.

  • Ming whistles at 13 seconds. Funny.

  • Someone get ming a werthers original and the radio times...

  • You missed an important point out which automatically give Sir Ming a point up on Blair. HIs blody Knighthood.

  • 'The people WE are fighting in Iraq'?? Can't recall Blair fighting in Iraq.

  • Blair is a liar. Ming is ace and I would have voted for him.

  • We should never of went to war in the first place! Tony Blair dented the UK's reputation.

  • kangurupt you think Blair is the best PM ever, have you ever heard of Churchill, Pitt the Younger, The Duke of Wellington, Thatcher, Lloyd George. They were the best PMs.

  • vintage blair, easily won that

  • brown looks like he's going to fall asleep any second

  • WOW never before have I actually seen a senial old man trying to do politics. What a laugh this is, obviously a man who understood politics of a bygone era but politics is changing at a rate that just didn't suit him, just like Cleggy boy

  • Let's be fair, he was pretty dreadful in PMQs EXCEPT on foreign affairs. He always won those rounds because he was more comfortable with them.

  • Blair is such a lying poodle. He's spineless, just like Gordon Brown.

  • ming is spot on, blair is scumbag who takes his orders from his bf in washington thats why he wont debate, dirty mongrel

  • The context of this debate is that there was no debate regarding British presence in Iraq, Blair made the decision privately and not collectively as you would in a democracy and that is the point that Cambell is making

  • I agree with Tony Blair .

  • Chancellor Brown looks awful bored.

  • He is there for himself, and nobody else.

Otherwise he would have resigned by now.

  • mingcampbellfan: his name is "Menzies" campbell, pronounced like "ming".

  • Only "skewers" if such a word is defined as stabbing with the wrong end. Blair rightly points out the naivety of such a proposal, despite his clear failings when it came to the situation in Iraq. The approach is all wrong, but a timetabled withdrawal is not the way to solve it.

  • i didnt see this but ming did very well and was obviously passionate about it

  • well said menzies, no one seems to mention us soldiers, risking our lives for what turned out to be a pack of lies, WMD, load of crap. Only thing we went to Iraq for was oil, aint no other reason.

  • better than american politics by far!!

  • You might die listening to the fart if you are not careful.

  • "American politics", that's an oxymoron right?

  • oh sorry. we'll try to include more backward idiots and sparkly PR nobodies in the future.

although I think you'll be able to find both of these qualities in one, david cameron.

  • Agreed.

  • Just because most of our MPs and Lords do neither swear nor unabashedly lead the flock on chanting slogans does mean they are 'queer old farts'.

Nonetheless, please pardon our MPs for not having your entertainment foremost in mind. They must have thought you already have enough slogan-and-song from the Obama camp.

  • Hey! You're stupid!

    that is all

  • have you ever watched u.s. politics on tv? it's like watching water evaporate.

  • And what about when there isn't a presidential election dude?

  • At least the Brits didn't turn their politics into showbiz.

  • The title of this video is entirely wrong. Blair was superior

  • blair is actually a great speaker in the house - a lawyer by trade - great at thinking on his feet

  • yeah unlike brown

  • go ming. give that lying bastard what for!

  • blair wins this one, sorry

  • Nothing wrong with Ming Cambell. A fine leader for the liberals. Where as most parties have left their traditional political stance behind he was a leader who wanted to stay to Liberal policies.

  • Ming Campbell was a decent and honourable man and it was sad to see such a man leave so soon as party leader. Most politicans are performers with little integrity- Ming was quite the opposite and the fact that he resigned to to such trivial talks of his age is pretty saddening. Long live the Liberals!

  • the libs are ageist. clegg is a disaster - will they be able to salvage something from the wreckage that clegg has caused?

  • Yeah, bring back Kennedy I say!

  • Menzies

  • Click my name to air your views on the current government and Iraq

  • The validity of the argument on the need for a debate does not negate the point explained by Mr Blair.

Wasn't this video clip meant to be flattering to Mr Campbell? The editing showed all his points demolished, save the last one referred to above.

  • ukip are what the tories were in the '80s.

  • The Tories in the 80s were the Liberals of the 1880s.

  • are ukip simliar to BNP?

the only thing i agree with the ukip on is keeping the pound. apart from that i am a bit socialist and a bit liberal, just a centralist really but a bit left of centre.

  • your political philosophy is the kind that tolerates gangs of Somali asylum seekers mugging people whilst on the dole.

your political philosophy allows people from whatever nationality to come to britain - making it more crowded, weighing down the taxpayer, and making the country a molotov cocktail ready to explode into a race war

  • What nonsense. Have you ever actually seen gangs of Somali asylum seekers mugging people, oh and they're on the dole too... and they spread plague, and rape cute animals, and they killed Diana too.

  • You're a LibDem?

  • vote ukip

  • I think Ming was good a PMQs.

  • he was bloody crap did u never watch it.

  • He only got two questions so it was hard to come back again and again like Cameran can.

  • just look at him he needs a blanket and a warm cup of cocoa

  • lol it is like u picturing it for us lol

  • Bye, bye, Ming.

  • Poor old Ming, he always looked nervous and kept playing with his hands like Stan Laurel.

  • fumble.. fumble.. Campbell comes over as a nervous wreck. Hardly leadership material.

As for Blair - third-rate actor and total liar as always.

    And both Scots.

    Time for an English-only Parliament.

  • campbell rocks he is the only one to still remind us what a disaster the iraq war and the new labour project was for this counrty - and the world, also!!!

  • Poor old Ming, always looks like he's just about to have a heart attach

  • haha skewers? hardly! old ming made a foolish comment, tony blair proved ming wrong and went onto humiliate the LibDems, then Ming lost his rag.

  • Skewered?! I hardly think so. Certainly not awesome and definitely not brilliant. He stopped using notes because, not leading government or opposition, he deserves no despatch box. Which means every week people can watch his hand tremble as he struggles to make LibDems look anything other than unprepared for power.

  • This Ming Campbell guy doesn't use notes like all the others do. This obviously shows that Campbell knows how to debate and is intelligent.

  • How is this "awesome" or "brilliant"? The man has no spine and less brain and simply keeps banging on about 'bringing the troops home' when it will be absolutely the worst thing possible for Iraq!

    Idiot!

  • Exactly. I agree with Tony: "arbitrary." It's not, "hey, we did our thing, lets go home" or "we've failed; let's lick our wounds and go home." It's just: "i'm sick of war. who gives a crap. let's go home." Who elected this guy?

  • this was one of ming's awesome days! he really smacked blair with a quick off the cuff line.

  • Ming really shone here. I really respect the Lib Dems' unwavering opposition to the war, and it looks like they'll reap the benefits at the next election. Good on em, I say. It's about time.

  • Yo. can someone kindly explain to me why menzies campbell is called Ming? Im 17 and getting into politics. If someone could tell me, I'd really appreciate it, thanks, (:

  • If you search for 'Ming', 'Menzies' and 'yogh', there's an article that explains it. In essence, Menzies is pronounced 'Ming-is' and 'Ming' is the short version of that.

  • I am sure you have already found out slaaaaave but in Scotland Menzies is pronounced Mingess.

  • Yes i do like to watch Tony Blair as he is a great PM for this country and has done a lot for the British people by investing in public service.

I also like to watch the liberals fail every wednesday at pmqs

  • brilliant performance by ming, i dont think so. put the whole clip up then we will judge it.

  • You seem to enjoy watching Tony Blair squirm.

Luckily, as posted more than a week before you posted your comment, you can watch a full extra minute of Blair failing to answer the question by looking under 'More from this user' and looking for 'Ming Campbell skewers Tony Blair at PMQs (long edit)'

  • Why did you cut out Blair's response and any further exchanges between the two? I will now have to check in Hansard.

  • Look under 'More from this user' and you can see the full response.

I kept the previous edit short because people are more likely to watch shorter videos. Unfortunately also, PMQs doesn't lead to much in the way of exchange. Ming only gets to ask one question, followed by a supplementary question. Blair usually ducks the answers.

  • Brilliant perfomance by Ming.
