PhysicsMasterMind does not seem to understand what the Orion, which is the actual name of the capsule, is capable of. The Space Shuttle is massive. It is not very cost-efficient when it comes to price per kg to orbit. The Orion is safer, more cost-effective, and will take us to LEO, the moon and beyond. The Space Shuttle is only capable of LEO.

They've given up on SSTO's and space plane vehicles by now. The CEV which is the current replacement for the shuttle is just a plain old space capsule.
