technically, captain jack can only survive death, not change. it's like the whole of human race regenerating to to becoming the master. so even if jack turns to th master, he's not dead, he just dosen't know he was captain jack anymore. the master took over everyone's mind

I think what brings Jack back is the fact that if this is when the human race is completely changed-he's going to have to come back in hopes of fixing it (and his Time Vortex given life force kinda makes him another type of "freak", immune to the Master).

Am I really the only person who thinks the Master is blundering about a bit? He seems like a helpless, crazed child - like I have sympathy toward him, which I wasn't expecting. I mean, John did a fantastic job - he always does - but it's really not as big and scary as RTD is making it seem...I thought it seemed like something a egocentric child would do...and really a bit humourous.

But the Master didn't have a plan when he was resirected, he just got lucky with being given the immortality gate, and improvised. It's got no real purpose, other than getting revenge at the Doctor. It was a fantastic episode though, and i can't wait till part two :)

On the second viewing the explanation is that Naismith and his daughter are part of the Master's Disciples. They helped him to be resurrected and brought him to be their lapdog. He seized the opportunity and used it for his own means. And, the Master wasn't quite "done" because of Lucy interrupting the process.

I for one want to know who put the drumming in his head and if its always been a part of the Time Lord's War.
