  • FZ didn't do drugs, but his music is like a drug: addictive, makes you feel better and broadens the horizon!

  • @astroandyborgloh I do find it amusingly ironic that some of the best times of my life has been sitting down with Frank Zappa and some marijuana. Especially with a tune like Zoot Allures. Actually, this whole DVD.

  • 7 years left...

  • BOOO! why isnt that in 9/4??? Did Zappa actualy get lazy?

  • amazing

  • Such an easy goin' song about anal.

  • judging by his music...it sounds like he did drugs, but he didn't...and thats the best part

  • wackerman, you are the man! great drums..

  • I was at this show when I was 19, the only time I ever saw Zappa. I wasn't into him so I didn't know the songs I was listening to but remember being blown away by their musicianship. Spent that day at the now closed Action Park in NJ, if ever heard of the place you remember it, PEOPLE DIED, well maybe who knows! Before the show the crowd was chanting like the ghostbusters song,,Who Ya Gonna call FRANK ZAPPA, still remember that. Purple rolling papers, nough said. It was a good day.

  • grande

  • @hristerix Why thank you! It is! :O

  • Its ok, got it Scott thumes :)

  • Scott Thunes is the bass player

  • amazing bassline

  • This is music!

  • The bassist is Scott Thunes...and yeah, he plays his ass off in this whole performance...this song and "Baby Don't You Want A Man Like Me" are probably the best examples of his playing here... The whole concert is available on the Zappa DVD "Does Humor Belong In Music?"

  • man who's the bassist? he's mad tight!

  • yeah he is KILLIN it

  • Grease it dooooooooooown =D

  • I forgot how awesome this song wasv <3

  • chad wackerman on drums

  • what happened to the chad-fro?

  • they're so fucking good

  • Ike Willis with the robot claw thing, that was fucking great.

  • dynamite vocals there.

  • As nice a song as this is, it's the time signature that stands out the most to me, I think it's a 21/4

    :/

  • The original version is 4/4 with parts in 19/16. In this version they play all the parts in 4/4.

  • it's tough...i think it uses 19/16 and 21/16...7/5/7 and 7/7/7...crazy count.

  • i think newton is right, though...i think this version is 4/4 with crazy 16th notes from the bass...

  • The album version is the 'impossible' version I agree with CH3MISTRY large parts of this are in 4/4 - count it!

Scott Thunes delivers one of the THE finest performances on Bass that I have ever heard or seen BTW - I saw this band in Germany in 1984 and they were phenomenal.

  • @Egokingbass its 19/16

  • Cool!

  • Mr nnero0 are you listening to this or are you reading some internet forum which refers to the studio version? Because if you are saying that all of this song is 19/16 time - you are wrong.

  • @Egokingbass I am not reading any forum, but i am refering to the studio version

  • it's 19/8

  • It's 19/16, and than 21/16

  • or it's just tied over the bar.

  • that bassline is BURNIN'

  • @CH3MIS7RY Scott Thunes ladies and gentlemen!

  • @CH3MIS7RY Nah man, it's GREASY SWEET.

  • wonderful video quality

  • Awesome Line Up

  • excellent

  • love zappa

  • was there ---KILLER

  • i was there too. i bought my son the DVD and he loves it. i love 1:48 where Scott Thunes plays slap bass.... so well
