@OmgIcantwaiiiiit Hrm, I thought it was Vinnie Colaiuta. But perhaps it is in fact Chad Wackerman. I know Vinnie is on the recorded album Joe's Garage
@astroandyborgloh I do find it amusingly ironic that some of the best times of my life has been sitting down with Frank Zappa and some marijuana. Especially with a tune like Zoot Allures. Actually, this whole DVD.
FANTASTIC FRANK ZAPPA MASTER CLASS now free on Ustream! Theory and analysis of Peaches, Watermelon in Easter Hay, Envelopes, etc.. HUGELY fun, entertaining and educational. Type in "Dave Frank" Zappa on Ustream website anytime. You vill dig this:)
I was at this show when I was 19, the only time I ever saw Zappa. I wasn't into him so I didn't know the songs I was listening to but remember being blown away by their musicianship. Spent that day at the now closed Action Park in NJ, if ever heard of the place you remember it, PEOPLE DIED, well maybe who knows! Before the show the crowd was chanting like the ghostbusters song,,Who Ya Gonna call FRANK ZAPPA, still remember that. Purple rolling papers, nough said. It was a good day.
The bassist is Scott Thunes...and yeah, he plays his ass off in this whole performance...this song and "Baby Don't You Want A Man Like Me" are probably the best examples of his playing here... The whole concert is available on the Zappa DVD "Does Humor Belong In Music?"
The album version is the 'impossible' version I agree with CH3MISTRY large parts of this are in 4/4 - count it!
Scott Thunes delivers one of the THE finest performances on Bass that I have ever heard or seen BTW - I saw this band in Germany in 1984 and they were phenomenal.
Mr nnero0 are you listening to this or are you reading some internet forum which refers to the studio version? Because if you are saying that all of this song is 19/16 time - you are wrong.
You and Steve Sparx are such lucky souls. Tomorrow I'm watching the Central Scrutinizer Band with Ike Willis for the second time in a week, easily the best shows in my entire life. The closest I'll ever get to a zappa concert.
