Caledonian MacBrayne have not been forced to stop their popular vehicle ferries on the popular Gourock-Dunoon route as from 29th June 2011 due to a tendering process that went on for months. Calmac will continue on this route but with 'passenger-only boats. Their competitors , Western Ferries , now have a complete monopoly on vehicle transit. Sad indeed!
@submariner50 Unless they moved Dunoon and the Holy Lock, they are North of Glasgow. Or down the Clyde--the Clyde runs north and turns west at the intersection of the Holy Lock and Lock Long. I was there in the late '60's and early '70's
Even I an Englishman knows that you aint pointing to the "Isle of Dunoon" because Dunoon just AINT an island., nor is it ANY WHERE NEAR Glasgow, Neither is it a British Naval Base, that's Holy Loch. that is not Dunoon....Dunoon is not an island...Dunoon is about an hour south of Glasgow....i was stationed there in the 80's.
