I belive John is correct on the video, over filling the tank due to internal pressure by the fuel could infact cause some sort of thermodynamic reaction? good thing about tracable part numbers, stupid DC10 with its wobbly bits falling off all over the place! why wasnt this part identified missing before anyone else went on the runway, dont ground crews do basic after flight checks anymore???
@BusterBunker I agree. The only time manufacturing was to blame was with the cargo door issue. Other than that, I hear it was a great bird. I mean, FedEx still has a bunch of them still in service (the MD-10s are really old) just goes to show you how well it was built.
The DC-10s, MD-10s and all the MD-11 models were and are workhorses of the sky. Yes, The DC-10 may have had some early fatal design flaws, but I can't blame it on the airplane. The blame should have been put on the Douglas Aircraft Company. I don't know why people always blame the airplane. (It's not human) A lot of the fatal crashes were caused by shady maintenance practices by the airlines and other third party companies.
Wow the dude who was trying to report the problem with the hole in the wing who the FAs kept asking to sit down is SOOO illustrative of the way FAs treat people these days. Idiots.
For all the America haters that have commented on this video from the very first second of the first part of this documentary... how can you blame a plane manufactured in America is responsible for Concorde's failure? This story has more to do with the Concorde's design, aircraft maintenance, and runway maintenance -- not the nationality of the aircraft that took off prior to the Concorde disaster. Get off it, you guys. The American bashing is tired.
if it was an american plane then it would be a tragedy it would be in Hollywood movies, tv programmes and the world would be force fed what happened, if you think about the Americans own the worlds media and therefore make everyone believe their propaganda.
this would never happen again, i think its stupid how such a simple mistake such as recording weight on the plane can cause things like this should be recorded by about 4 people to make sure
@Dantechmanify They didn't take Concorde out of service just because of those 3 accidents. They took it out of service because the operational costs of one Concorde flight (with way less passengers) surpasses that of one 747 flight. The accidents just helped aid in it's demise.
@fs10inator There is nothing wrong with the DC-10, it is a magnificent solid airplane, an icon in aviation. Pilots have all loved it, as it is one of the smoothest and most solid aircraft to fly. and so do passengers, because of it's spaciousness and comfort. Those flights you mention are not due anything more than human error, not pilot error, but some procedure, component or engine issue, not the aircraft itself.

@beachboyzsg Oh, what a pitty twat you are. Have you ever heard of any conspiracy theory related to Concorde accident? For the love of victims of this terrible accident, please, do shut the fuck up, if you don't have anything interesting to say.

"Pay attention to me! Supersonic travel isn't even that cool. I've got three engines." -DC-10
I actually think the DC-10, MD-11s are the work horses of the sky despite their design flaws.
"Do you think we should fix that? Naw, its fine."

it's so sad, that something that was such an achievment had to end in such a way. This and Titanic have quite a few things in common.

If this happened in the 21st Century, I am sure it will be related to Conspiracy Theories.
Just for conspiracy theory, didn't Boeing 747 came out of factory at the same time Concorde came out? Must be the Americans again! hahahaha
