i would also like to comment that (as a journalist myself, ) the style of journalism, ethics and general layout of news stories in america will differ greatly from the uk for the simple reason that in britain, there are vast codes of conduct and strict laws, even dictating to where you place your reporter on camera.

what you can say in england is limited, or has to be very carefully worded with 'power words.' you also need an NCTJ qualification to work as a journalist in the uk. America does not

The average addict wouldnt end up in prison anymore just for doing drugs. It would enable these people to actually get real help, and rehabilitation. The best comparison I can show you is this. Al Capone made a killing off alcohol (millions of dollars) the reason he made so much money off alcohol was it was illegal and he was a bootlegger (Illegal alcohol maker) (Remember prohibition?) Anyway when it was illegal the price on alcohol was sky high and only because it was illegal.

The reason for most crimes in regards to drugs is the high cost of drugs.If the war on drugs was abolished, then the prices on drugs would plummet. Soon after the rewards for dealing drugs would become less and less as the value has went down dramatically. The average addict who would normally steal or rob to just pay for the drugs wouldnt need much money to buy anymore and eventually would probably be able to support his or her own habit just by pan handling.

Oh by the way if you are watching television these days and happen to notice an increase in commercials dealing with drugs, etc.. Dont believe it. The news and large stations will most likely try to play the drugs are killing us theme, once again as we move closer to 08' I think the major reason why is there is a candidate that is talking about doing away with "War On Drugs" which will make crime regarding drugs go down on a massive level.
