  • this was awesome, no wonder he was in genesis XD!!!! haha <3<3

  • 1 person couldn't hackett

  • what a surprise .great

  • Isn't that keyboard riff from a Genesis song in the 80's? Sounds REALLY familiar...just not placing it.

  • "Defector" is one of my favorite Steve Hackett's album.

  • What a strange video! But I LOVE Steve Hackett, and I agree with sunboyfun, I like the smirk! And I actually dig this tune -- one of Steve's great little pop tunes.

  • Was the most talented Genesis songwriter by miles ... awesome.

  • @ianasdfg

no way my friend. I think they ALL were fantastic (including Anthony Phillips)

  • @ivanjpm Anthony Phillips is a guest guitarist in Steve's last album (great album) : OUT OF THE TUNNEL'S MOUTH

  • I love Steve's smirk in this vid!

  • this would of not sounded out of place on either and then there were three or duke if steve stayed

  • Me too, never knew this existed. I wonder if it was ever shown anywhere on TV at the time! Loved this song-it was brave of Steve to throw in a disco bass-line. all-in-all, this a really cool pop song. Video's a bit naff though.

  • Touch of Brideshead in the group shots 3.20.

  • Awesomesauce!! =D

  • suvvia ragazzi, Steve è il mio musicista preferito, un vero genio, ma The Show è veramente una cagata.... :))

  • @voloaltissimo vero, però vedi l'ironia che ha voluto mettere nel pezzo.. anche il video lo dimostra, molto scherzoso ;-)

  • remember seeing this live

  • Love the '70s funky bass line in this as well as the synthesizer riff and vocals. As far as I'm concerned, Steve can do no wrong.

  • Most people dont know this superb song exists. what a great posting.

  • Too good to be true

  • @PreacherofArrakeen That's exactly what I instantly thought. I bet if you asked him he'd say that you are right on.

  • stupidest video everrr, but i love it! its funny cause its soo cheesy! ahaha:)

  • The video is kind of lame... too same-y. It needed a couple more visual elements added in. But of course this WAS 1980.

  • I love steve!

  • @vinkalor Not Cured, Defector.

  • I love Steve, I love his music - I love this song...

This is the worst music video I've seen in a long time.

(local middle school drama dept may have helped?)

  • you obviously havnt seen the music video for phil collins sussudio

  • Seen it, it's not even this bad. But it's close. Ssu-ssu-ssudio...god, that's worse I guess because the song sucks. You got me.

  • very nice and original the funky bass line in a rock-progressive song like this...

  • good song, boring video

  • !!!

  • The 80's... :(. Damn them.

From 'The Gran Parade of Lifeless Packaging', 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway', 'Carpet Crawlers', 'The Cinema Show', 'The Battle Of Epping Forest', 'The Musical Box', etc... to this.

  • Nice song and video, even with the pop influence all prog composers and bands had in the early 80's, still, it's Master Hackett playing there !

  • Great find.

  • I like this song because it gives me energy.

  • I really like this song, not to fussed on the "disco" bass line though. Like the vocal melodies and movement on the synth. It does reflect the time though, that early 80's thing.

  • Looks like Nash the Slash and his brothers playing the song :D :D

  • I'm a big fan of his and have seen Steve live a nimber of times but this is ONE LAME ASS song if I ever heard one. Perfect for the tripe that came out of the 80's.

  • 'disagree; i personally appreciate "pop sensibilities." if i want art rock devoid of that, i'll listen to mid period Jethro Tull.

  • I wonder if this song has any type of reference to his time w/Genesis if you know what I mean

  • sometimes he looks like a trendy John Major

  • Haha, yeah! Didn't notice that until now and I have been a Hacket/Genesis fan since I learned to shit!!!

  • his strange manner reminds me of Peter Gabriel

  • money.....no object

  • Yes it was used as the theme for Go Fishing. I used to tune in just for the opening credits and then turn it off .. love Steve.. hate fish !

  • what is Go Fishing? some kind of a show with Hackett-made theme? man i must`ve missed somuch things being a recent born-kid

  • Nice song. Nice video. Steve is actually quite good-looking, isn't he? I like his "shy" ghostly smile.

  • Typical british humour.

  • A rare video, indeed! Thanks for uploading.

The bass lines are really good.

  • Pretty sure that this was used as the theme to Jackie Charlton's Go Fishing BBC TV programme back in '83.

  • WOW! Thanks for posting this! I never knew it existed! That has always been my favorite track from Defector and to see that there was a vid made for it is very cool!

  • Thanks for posting this, never knew it existed.

  • Now I look at this promo once more it looks like a Godley and Creme directed job.

  • I think this was used as the theme tune for one man and his dog an old BBC programme but I'm not 100 per cent on that,I certainly recall hearing it on tv,I know the BBC used Spectral Mornings to advertise films many years ago

  • Ive seen him do this live - more years back than I care to remember - can anyone tell mewhat was it used as in the capacity of a theme tune. It was a TV theme but for what I cannot remember. Anyone?

  • always wanted to see him do hackett to pieces, but its not posted anywhere

  • Wow - never knew this existed! Not his best, but thanks for posting!
