also, (sorry last comment, haha) I think that the pokemon battles get kinda more complex because they add things like different types of pokemon are stronger against other types, and you can get all kinds of attacks that make the other pokemon have more trouble fighting. still not complaining about your opinion

I'm not going to say you're wrong, you're obviously as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, but I am going to say that I highly enjoy the pokemon games (or at least the ones on game boy, I don't have a DS) and I think this has to do with that fact that it was literally the first game I ever played. Kids would hang out at school playing pokemon, and they're my favorite way to pass a long car ride.

I think it's interesting the way that I like certain games that I like, even though I know they're crap. Similar to Pokémon, I also love DDR. It's just recycling the same concept. They haven't even added a new element since, like, 2000. I still buy em' though.

my guess why the newer games are getting worse is mainly because of the improvements and new features. underground, dressing up pokemon, walking w/ pokemon, these are really useless in the core gameplay. thats why diamond/pearl wasn't so great. if u look back on gold/silver, they had gender, breeding, phone, berries, holding items, night/day,etc, these actually became very useful to whole game. thats why they became so popular

pokemon has a stupid storyline and the work you have to put into your pokemon is insane.but the fun is devising the strategy using only 4 moves from a set. Im 17 and i still have fun wid pokemon cos when i whip out my ds and play against my friends its an awesome feelin to beat someone's lvl abillionuberlegendarypokemon with some pissweak shitling you found back in oak town. and when you play against people with real strategy it can be a fun game. can't wait for silver :D

Its true though, you need to get to wifi battling to love this game. Competetive battling has A LOT to do with strategy.

Yes, it takes 10-20 hours of gameplay if you are fast, but the end is worth it.

You know that they have remade Gold and Silver (the second evolution of pokemon) for the DS, and it is out in Japan next week? i think that it was the best season hands down, i remember playing it non stop for a week when i was 7 and loved it, way better than pearl and diamond, but the weird thing is, I do not know why it just is better, i know that if u decide to buy it when it comes out, u will love it.

BTW did u guys play any of the ones before diamond and pearl?

One more thing. And I know you guys hate it, but I'm just trying to figure this out myself.

The beginning and most of the game is boring and simplistic. I'll admit to that. The difficulty quickly raises on some of the boss fights, but then goes back down. The game is simplistic for the most part so it appeals to casual gamers.

On the other hand, after you beat it, it gets really hardcore, but most people won't have the patience to do that. Fights get really complex.

For me the games got good once I got a full list of moves for my guys, which was around level 15 or so.

It does start off very boring, but I guess if you played through them before, and know that it gets better, you'll keep playing through the 2 hour or so boring part.

yea, the game seems kinda boring at first but, it really gets fun very end game with competive battling in-game and/or on wifi. Think the battleing system as more of a stradgy game. you can only use 6 pokes, with 4 moves. you need to try to make a balanced team of sweepers, hard hitting but die easy, walls, tank like, can take hards hits but dont do much damage. (both on the special and physical end) and support, who heal, or augment other pokes.

pokemon as a kid(like 10) i remember really liking, but now it just seems so kiddy and simple and not really hardcore i guess i could say. Once you get into your 20's noone has the paitence for these long rpg's. When I was a kid, I always look for the game with no end to the replay value, now I can't wait to finish the game and put it on the shelf, never to be played again.

I already beat the game, I was looking for a feebas because its evolved form, Milotic, is badass. I'd like to trade it to Diamond (from Emerald) when I pick up Diamond. I didn't spend 5 hours straight, just total time.

"Beating" Pokemon is a subjective thing. You can defeat the elite four and unlock all the areas and consider it done; or you can try to catch every creature in the game.. that task is a long, long term project. That's what's great about Pokemon, you can pick it up whenever and continue on, catching or evolving one or two more beasts, or catching Pokemon with distinct traits (natures), then breeding (or chain breeding) the perfect Pokemon.

Well that's alot of advice you have there lol. Unfortunatly most people can't play games or cruise the internet while at work or school. You can play it all you want in your free time, I think you have more of it then I do. To me that game is playing me, and the goal of the game is to capture hours of my life instead of pokemon. It captured over 150 of my hours when the first game came out on gameboy all those years ago. I couldn't even capture that many different pokemon.
