I'm confused, if this song was replaced in 1965, the year I was born, then how do I remember it. I stopped watching Rudolph sometime around 1980. So according to what everyone says here (and everywhere) only Fame and Fortune was shown for these years. This is the song (and footage) that stuck with me my whole life. But I also remember Fame and Fortune. ????

Fame and Fortune fits the situation just as well as this song did. Even better in fact. It gives them a goal and a direction as they leave their old life behind, thus helping to advance the story instead of just belaboring the "we're misfits" theme which has been well enough established already.

I agree with Ray50005. CBS killed this scene. Misfits fit the situation better, BUT if they had only used Misfits ORIGINAL animation, it'd be good. Now that I know the history behind this scene, I notice how horrible the whole thing is. You can even hear Hermey punching the Snowelf from the original scene even though he doesn't do that in this version! D:<

CBS destroyed this song. NBC actually took care of the film from 1964 until they gave it up in 1971. CBS just used the film as a football, and I bet pieces of it got ripped out. And in 1998, CBS decided to try the original song in 1964. Guess what? By 2005, you can see that they're using Fame and Fortune over a VERY short version of Misfits. All CBS cares about now is "Buy this for $9.99" rather than the show itself. Screw CBS, NBC rocked!

They did a good job faking it with "Fame and Fortune," but there's a brighter flash in this one. When they stop the chorus "were a couple of misfits" and Hermey hits that solo again "why am I such a misfit, I am not just a nit wit, they can't fire me I quit, seems I don't fit in", the overall effect is just too good. Doesn't have that same tired, fake quality "Fame and Fortune" has.
