  • Sometimes i like 2 get away from using a big complicated setup so i have Traktor 2 on my computer for anyone feeling bad about mixing on a computer dont keep working hard dont let anyone bring you down i've felt that before like everyone has 1 time in life but the music heals everyone also i'll say that i could never right a Symphony my self that's complicated so i listen 2 beethoven because he has made Symphony music if you put time in on the computer you could right a Symphony

  • @djandywdotcom but that's 2 much time so we mix if you wanna check out something i've made on the computer just google Andrew Willard Universal ♥ Mastermix

I've been mixing of and on for about 15 years it's my passion and i wanna say this share from DigitalDJTips is very very much appreciated i'm watching all of these tutorials

    Thank You!!

  • @shojin92 if you set it up so your headphones are out of the USB sound card and the mix is outputted from the pc's sound card that should solve it. (it did for me anyways)

  • hi phil, so ive just gone and got a soundcard and plugged it into my computer as a short term solution for practice until i can save up enough money.. the problem is im experiencing a huge amount of latency, with significant delays and many pops. im on a macbook pro, and i konw the soundcard works fine because music played from itunes sounds fine.. the monitor sounded awful on virtual dj, so i switched to mixxx which is better but with the pops.. any suggestions as to why this is happening?

  • @shojin92 What sound card are you using?

  • @DigitalDJTips a plug-in usb one which i got on ebay for like 2 quid - i dont know the make but its the same as the one you recommended in one of your articles for djing without a controller

  • Another excellent video Phil.

    Good work!

  • @brido77 Thanks :)

  • thanks for the advice. I think I have figured out how to map my buttons. now I just need to decide how I want them arranged

  • HI, is it true, that I have to supply my own speakers at certain gigs. I have a small holding in my local area, but I only own surround computer speakers. Should I invest in maybe some JBL's or Yamaha? Also, Is pioneer really the best (with the cdj 2000, also being a digi player)

  • @DJaksELL For Digital gear Pioneer is one of many, and is certainly not out in front. I think owning your own PA is always a good idea :)

  • I was wondering if you could do a post on exactly how you custom mapped your keyboard shortcuts. or link to a site that explains it. i've been trying to do what you said and make my keyboard a mirrored version of the two decks but i just cant get it to work

  • @zeppcakes1 It took me many weeks to do! We might do that at some point but it's a big commitment to write a post like that. However, try the Virtual DJ forum - there are some great people over there who share some wonderful keyboard mappings. Just ask...

  • how do u program your laptop with virtual dj pro and i have a macbook pro btw

  • @MrxOLYMPIAx You can alter mappings in the configurations in Virtual DJ Pro.

  • hey phil, what software should i use because i am gonna start dj'ing

and i am gonna start on laptop and then work my way over to controllers

but for now what software should i use? :)

  • thanks for this dude, i hear alot of people starting off on a laptop but i just think. naa there having me on to make me feel better.... but now you say this i acctually belive them.... well ill carry on mixing on my laptop till i can afford a mixtrack pro :D.

  • @DaveTheTechGuy It's all about the music :)

  • @raresgeorgeroca Yes, there's no need to rush to getting gear... collect great tunes, practise and only buy gear when you're sure it's going to help you...

  • Phil,

I think that by getting into the mappings of the keyboard I've gotten more excited about DJing from my netbook. I guess it's because I'm making it more personal. As well, my netbook can't really handle a proper controller (only 1.6GHz atom) so I've got to go off my keyboard. As I map more and practice off that mappipng, I not only get better at mixing, but also happier with my own setup (i.e. not lusting after an S4 or Pioneer rig). Thanks for posting!

  • @redsamick Glad to hear it! I love controllers, but it's good to realise they're NOT what DJing is about.
