So with this logic we should be farming on Mars to discover a way to help kindergarteners be better achievers at learning their colors and safely using scissors, just kidding, but it does seem like a rather expensive way to do research with the "this is what's in it for you" angle. I think more of what is in it for us is just simply answering questions about the unknowns of space, too bad NASA got off track and started doing piddly experiments while in low earth orbit.
