I love this poem n where it's coming from as a Black female. I have Alexis Marie as a friend on facebook and recently she has gone natural, meaning back to natural hair texture and she looks gorgeous.
That was so awesome!!!!! That part about hearing the negro spiritual in the night as kid reminded me of the first team I went to a pow wow as a kid...the images of the memory are blurred but the feeling is so vivid!!!!!!!!!!
