  • The auto bailouts were wrong for2 main reason

Creditors who should have been first tor recoup were put behiind unions in the compensation package

Second if there has been a controlled bankrupcy, the union contract could have been voided. Then the companies could be right to work companies which would destroy a criminal enterprise known as the UAW.

  • Republicans, Democrates, whatever. You can't be a cocksucker without being a politician. They all want to praise the occupiers when most of them are the 1%, and made most the idiotic laws and regulations that caused all the problems. Nothing but a bunch of spineless populists.

  • Isn't it funny that liberals cheer the bailouts by Obama but demonize the bailouts by George Bush? I don't like bailouts period, but it's obvious there is a double standard.

  • @jpzxcvbnm I think Cenk is very consistent in his analysis to be honest, regardless of who it is he is criticizing . Don't know about liberals in general though

  • I'd much rather see an ad banner than sit through a commercial. There's a reason I don't have cable or anything else like it.

  • Don't do drugs

  • Hey Cenk Dumbfuck Uygur, so after you dropped out of college you decide to host a liberal masturbation program from your mommy's basement?

  • Unions caused the recession.

  • @MapleMeadows

    prove it

  • First of all, you got your bailout. So republicans want GM and Chrysler to fail because they want to kill the union? Wow. That's a stretch. Maybe the republicans figured it wasn't very fair for the men and women that are making $10/hr with no benefits or union representation, to pay the $29/hr wages and benefits of people working for failing companies. Just a thought. I won't watch another one of your videos. This is complete rhetoric.

  • @Beaver062 maybe the republicans should figure out that corupt trade policies are the real reasons their country is going bankrupt right along with the manufactuiring jobs they helped ship overseas! why don't you lobby for higher wages at walmart rather than tear everyone down to $10/hr! So its fair to pay wall st. and shit on the working man? Perfect logic for corporate greed.

  • Andrew...did you just say the democrats have been running congress for the last 8 years?

They have barely been a majority for 4 years, and under bush they had no power.

Also show me where a Democrat says he thinks money grows on tree, and where one thinks just printing money to solve a problem is okay. Can't? That's because you are an average republican that works with strawmen and hyperbole :D

    Enjoy deceiving yourself.

  • What you just said is a load of shit. All these CEO went to ask for money in corperate jets and cars and where ran out because of this. The republicans saved the tax payers billions. The democrats how ever denied intrest from the bank bailout and Auto Bail out. Also please look at who was running congress the last 8 years. the democrats. Democrats think money grows on trees. Theyh seem to think printing money helps.... NO. its called inflation. Use your head.

  • @Andrew22915 actually you are wrong about the auto bailout. The auto companies are required to repay thier loan with interest and with stock options it is actually possible to make a profit on top of the interest. Wall St. wasn't required to pay anything back and that was done by Bush if I'm not mistaken. So who thinks money grows on trees?

  • hey man .. where r u from ; )

  • You lost any credibilty at "you fascist pigs"

  • the problem with these deals is that it ruins the free market, which is how capitalism is supposed to work.

These deals cause a different type of environment, the WELFARE STATE: the government gives you free stuff. I mean what is the track record of the government when it comes to money? Oh wait, thats right, governments are good at SPENDING, not gaining... and the debt at? during 2008 the budget deficit was $455 billion but the national debt increased by $1 trillion, damn we are F%$#ed.

  • i think you will get nothing .. free. except you are poor. then you will get sth. when you get unemployed .. then you get nothing .. except you got rip of all you saved money. or when you havent had sth. if you think of an welfare state .. thats what you get. if you think of the medical care .. thats sth. other .. i guess.

  • btw. i comes witha lot of bureaucracy .. have fun with it ...

  • Republicans? How retarded! That's like saying "the real reason scorpios killed the auto bailout".

  • it's capitalism at it's worst!

  • Scumbags. Never ever trust a politician. Or most successful businessmen.

  • Comment removed

  • Supply-side economics have failed for these companies. Now they want more money. It's like a crackhead saying that this last hit will cure them of wanting any more crack.

  • Yes, the RIGHT side to take is give the money to the CEO's and the wealthy people who have bankrupted this country for the last 8 years!!! Damn right I'm on the wrong side. Trickle down economics is a joke! The super -rich either hold on to their money or take it offshore. The middle class are the ones that spend money. They are the backbone of this country. You may understand horse and sparrow econ. 101, but you don't understand how it it forces us WORKING class out of jobs.

  • Dude, until you go to Whoarton School of business and earn a law degree in tax policy, your opinion in negligent.

  • Bailouts will give money to the major companies that fucked up, and we should give them OUR tax money?! If Obama were to give every US citizen bailout money instead of giving it to the big companies, every American over the age of 21, each citizen would get approximately over $7000 to pay off their bills.

  • thank god the democrats are in power. they haven't been bailing out the big cat bankers or anything. last i checked barney frank and chris dodd are democrats.... don't just go after the republicans when its clear neither the democrats or republicans care about the people

  • Without making very large contributions to these lobbies, Congressmen like John P. Murtha wouldn't be re-elected SEVENTEEN TIMES. Stop blowing smoke out of your ass and be realistic. The reality of American politics is that EVERYONE, not just Republicans, mainly care about serving their own interests, so that they will be reelected next term.

  • Comment removed

  • Also, you are supposedly an intelligent man. You should be smarter than to assume that only Republican Congressmen are concerned with saving "Their Own Ass." What about Democratic Congressman John P. Murtha, who steered over $100.5 million to the PMA group (a lobbying firm) in return for PMA's contributions of $279,074, $236,799, and $274,649 to his campaign in the years, 2002, 2004 and 2006, respectively? You've heard of that haven't you? Is that not also saving "TOA"? Think before you speak.

  • Mr. Uygur, your ignorant assumption concerning these conservatives who "care nothing" about how much money the big-shot executives in America are walking away with, and who want to "squeeze the workers as much as they possibly can," has since been proven to be incorrect (see the almost unanimous outcry against the second AIG bailout).

  • Well now obama is in, you wont have to

worry, socialism is here, he is on his way

to take over yhe car companies and the banks.

and the uaw may get 50% of chrysler. if this

happens LOOK OUT. obama gave billions

to chrysler our money, knowing they were

    going to file bankruptsy.

  • SInce republican policy starting with Reagan has been to transfer wealth from the workers to the wealthy President Obama is forced to make tough decisions. something republicans have been too cowardly to do. The last good Republican President, Eisenhower had the highest tax rate in our history, 94% on the top incomes(incomes over 200,000 in 1945) was he a socialist?

  • Well explained, Turk......Just goes to show how crooked and "against the little man", republicans are. Anyone who votes republican should be shipped off to an island with other republicans so they can live together in misery.

  • Hmm.. 3 million jobs might be lost without the bailout ? If you need governement money to keep them alive, they were lost a looooooong time ago my friend.

  • so true.

  • "If you need governement money to keep them alive, they were lost a looooooong time ago my friend."

More like, they were Dead On Arrival from the get-go.

  • For the Big 3 to make a comeback would be like resurrecting the dead. Helluva thing to try, not impossible, but very well impractical.

The Big 3 would need sales of 80% and up for years to come. Those figures aren't there, seeing as how some prefer imports over USA and some can't afford new cars, or at least USA cars. But they have got enough money for a good import...

  • Maybe it's just me, but I feel like alot of liberals attribute their own personal failure and or setbacks to the American government. At some point in time everyone has to take personal responsibility. Big government is not the answer to everyones problems.

  • yahh its just you... get a life lol

  • ya, definitely just you. so i guess this means when conservatives fail, it is anyone but their own faults, right? idiot.

  • Well you got 4 years as of now, you will witness in your lifetime when the cookie crumbles lmfao.

  • EXACTLY! The Constitution and the Bill of Rights were designed to give a responsible person more freedoms and rights thananyone care'd to acknowledge. However, abuse those rights, and the Government takes those rights away.

Look at the 6th Amendment. Now warrantless searches and phone taps?

1st Amendment is gone. Government's trying to censor what's said in tv and radio, as well as news and media.

  • Right on Turk dude. It's Reganomics all over again. Ever since Reagan and trickle down neo-con Repubs broke unions in the 80's,(see air traffic controller strike) wages have been stagnant for 30 years. People have gone from two and three income households, to using credit for an extra income in order to live the American dream. As the video says, Repubs want to kill the last remaining good wage left in America, meanwhile they have many idiot Americans blaming the immigrants.

    Wake up!

  • A "good wage" means nothing as long as inflation keeps increasing. You can raise the minimum wage to 20 dollars an hour and it would hurt the economy of america more than benefit lower class people. The American dollar is only worth what other people are willing to pay for it. Printing off more money and bailing out every corporation and bank under the sun is prolonging misery not stabilizing the economy.

  • flyingtorpedo you make no sense, everything from your brain to your fingers goes thru nonsenseville. Please read something.

  • the republicans didn't have any requirements of the banks to get money.. the UAW isn't in the republican's pockets so they have been trying to destroy the unions for decades.

  • Republicans freed the black slaves, the Democrats opposed them. Thank god for Republicans or I would still be enslaved by the white man.

  • you americans are slaves still and you don't even know it. black, white, asians, ...etc; all of you are bowing to your regime and not even know it. and when you do realize it, it'll be too late.

  • damn u r crazy ? the republicans of 1860 are not the same people. plus the civil war wasn't all about slavery.. read some history.

  • oh yeah, flying torpedo, I'm sure the republicans gave a flying fuck about black slaves in the south. Get Real dude.

  • Actually they freed them, Abraham Lincoln- was Republican. The South loved their slaves and fought hard for them. I wish we had more people like Abraham Lincoln that played for the right team.

  • Lincoln was a racist but he wanted to send blacks back to Africa. He couldn't if they were slaves. He freed them hoping one day he could completely separate blacks and whites. Read up on him its true.

  • Republicans back then are the liberals over the years it has changed.

  • Yeah right. Republicans have always been fiscal conservatives and for smaller government. Thats the main difference between the parties. If their were not republicans slavery would have existed years later and farther than it should have. Democrats loved their slaves. Most farmers have always been democratic because they get subsidies from the government. Back then they loved bigger government and slaves. It's the same reason educators are are liberal = they get paid more from their local gov.

  • Failure should not be rewarded.

  • The American consumer has voted with their pocket book and wallet. We dont't want purchase the vehicles they produce!

So now that the White House has given them funds without accountability, the White House is expecting us to change our minds?

Let the free enterprise system work! Apparently the White House believes in the free enterprise system to point.

All the White House has done is postpone the enivitable!

General Motors and Chrysler are going to fail in 90 days.

    Goodbye GM!

  • George Bush passed a loan to the big 3.. Therefore the 7 minutes and 45 seconds of this video is now completely bullshit.

    PS. Fuck the unions!

  • mashtdi , I got news for you. Did you know that foreign car companies are UNIONIZED in their HOME COUNTRIES? It is true. It is just that slow, backwards southern US red states that do not want unions and they are quite happy paying people crappy wages for high skill jobs in the auto industry.

  • these morons don't know that in Japan and Germany almost everyone is in a union. it is a political move in the US that kept the unions out of the factories where foreign vehicles are built.

  • Republicans vote against the minimum wage being raised.

    Every time.

The only time they go after some company is when it deals with immigrants. Then they make a deal with the business owner that deports the same fucking people they mother fucking hired.

  • republicans want cheap labor, a work force afraid of lossing jobs and illegal workers to keep wages low. with the export of most manufacturing jobs out of the country the US is now a low wage service economy. putting it in the lower ranks compared to other industrial countries. most illegals are hired thru third party agencies. thus freeing the companies from liability to check for legal status.

  • Republicans or democrates didn't put up an ultimatum for the banks, and they got a lot more than 15 billion.

  • This comment will probably get deleted. But I can't help but feel overwhelmed by how much garbage this guy is spewing. The fact that he tirelessly tries to impose this thoughts and tries to pass it off as "what they are thinking" is such crap. Congress slammed the execs for the horrible job they have done, especially when they went to beg Congress by flying their personal jets down there. Stop acting like you're a journalist, it is embarrassing to actual journalists that have evidence and facts.

  • Turk has never made any claims to be a journalist. He is a commentator. If you were to ask either O'Reilly at FOX or Olbermann at MSNBC, neither would claim to be a journalist. They are commentators. The general definition of a commentator: An individual who takes an existing piece of news material and gives you his or her opinion on the subject. A journalist: An individual who directly reports news material and attempts to maintain an unbiased position.

  • Thanks for the clarity. That's really the big problem with the media as it is today. Too many "commentators". Most people today easily blur the distinction between them and journalists, as evidence by what I did. It just seems like he pushed for the "news desk" atmosphere, which makes it feel misleading. Because of shows like the Daily Show and such, people like this are validated. Don't get me wrong, I like John Stewart and all, he pokes jokes, but at least he shows both sides of the coin.

  • Fuck Jap!

    Fuck Korean!

    Buy American cars!

    White Power!!

  • shut the fuck up you cracker.

  • this guy is great, he speaks mad troof

  • Good the union should go down, they were too greedy. The average worker for GM was making $78/hr, including bonuses, for factory jobs. They'll be out of work and expect $30/hr to shovel snow. These people are retarded, greedy bastards.

  • The idea that 3 million jobs could be lost is utter nonsense. The demand for automobiles may be low but its still very significent and as evidenced by the fact that the Japanese manufacturers still have plants in the US the jobs required to satisfy this demand will still stay in the US. Will GM go out of business? Yes but the work and the demand and subsequently the jobs dont disappear.

  • Yeah, great. We owe China $2 trillion. We'll all work for the Japanese to pay it back.

Then we'll all drive our foreign cars to Walmart to give what's left to the Chinese.

Nice fucking plan for America's future.

  • I never said that the workers would work for the Japanese. The point in mentioning that the Japanese have plants in the US merely points out that its still viable to build cars in the US rather than making them in some other country (thus keeping US jobs) and shipping them to the US consumer.

Even if that wasn't the case, do you honestly think that working for a Japanese owned company will negatively effect the US? cause it won't.

  • It's the benefits for the laid off workers and the retirees that are outrageous.

  • The UAW needs to understand that they are competing in a global market.

Toyota spokesman Mike Goss said the company's total labor costs at its older U.S. plants are around $48, with about $30 per hour in wages (figures from 2008)

    GM's cost: $69

GMs employees will either work for less, or they will become toyota employees and work for less. Basic Economics.

  • Americans should not pay a dime to bail out the auto industry. It's pure socialism. Why should we bail out one company and not the other one, for that matter, why bail out all failed companies

  • These companies have been struggling for a while. The purpose of business is to make money. Ford seems ok, because it produces better cars, GM and Chrysler are struggling because their cars can't complete.

It's tough but there it is.

  • In the last analysis unions don't do much. They don't really help wages that much except by a very modest amount in certain cases; they are corrupt and mostly serve the function of keeping workers in line.

But they represent, however small, an attempt by workers to take control over their own conditions, and employers will always be terrified by that. They will double or triple wages before they see their slaves get out of order, because that's what you are to them, their slaves.

  • the 73 dollar figure includes all the benefits they get, which costs business just as much.

  • Should the auto industry borrow from the banks instead of the tax payers....

  • If bankruptcy only affected the unions, the CEO's would be running to file Chapter 11. Bankruptcy will open up EVERYONE's salaries for cuts. Neither of the two sides in the companies want that.

As far as unions securing high wages for its workers, it's a myth. Henry Ford introduced the $5/day wage BEFORE the UAW. Unions came in to ensure worker safety. Over the years the UAW has traded in jobs for wage increases, which is why union membership is at an all time low.

    -From Detroit

  • 3M jobs, huh? Sounds a lot. But Cenk, let me ask you this: How much hurt does it put on the rest of us when these 3M guys get life support? Who's covering the bill? All out of you farlefties' pocket? No way. WE WILL BE PAYING THE BILL, damn it! You ever think about that?

It's not republicans having an agenda. It's actually you liberals making a devil deal with Detroit: We give you life support, you pay us back w/ your votes. Let's form a tag team and continue screwing the rest of America.

  • holy shit!! could you possibly be as stupid as you sound? I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt as you gave the republicans and say no one person could be that stupid. The assumptions you make and the conclusions you jump to make you sound like a partisan ass. Unbelievable. I would say that the one bad thing about the internet and this site is that knuckleheads like you are allowed to make these stupidass videos.

  • What planet are you from? How many unions exist today compared to 30 years ago? Of course the republicans want the unions to shut down, it gives the big wigs control again over their workers. Unions are there to protect the workers of america; they exist because of the corruption and greed that has eaten our ecconomy for years. Have you ever even read a book? If you don't like what you are seeing/hearing I suggest you stop watching You-Tube or you stand the chance of being dissapointed often.

  • Fuck the AMercian auto companies. Go bankrupt and re-start over.

  • People need to support USA goods buy American made goods. Dont have the mind set of the 70s and 80s. That it cool, rebelish, to just not care and buy foriegn goods. Many of our polititians & media would have you believe this, they're in the back pockets of many foriegn companies And just like sheep many people follow them. Dont be a sheep help American workers out be Patriotic buy and look for USA goods in stores and on line We can not wait and be sheep to paid off polititains

  • The last "America" car I owned was a Dodge Caravan. It had a Mitsubishi engine and was assembled in Canada. Most of the foreign cars I've owned in recent years have been made (assembled) in America. So who is more Patriotic. I've notice in recent years my neighbors have switched from "American" to "Foreign" cars. American auto makers are so strapped by the Union they are dropping out of the competition.

  • Many gop Senators and people like them will next want our military to take pay cuts and lose there pensions. Next the police, fireman ect... shame shame on them. Soulless Evildoer fools. They are like sheep to the rich, foolish in thought and mind spineless jellyfish,is what they are.

  • Not a PhD, I'm working on my master's degree though. My ex-boyfriend who had a PhD actually made less than me at Johns Hopkins, so it's hard to see myself as underpaid.

  • HAHAHAHAHA and btw there is also no senators from the south that are democrat, man this guy is a total fucking idiot. He's just coming up with ridiculas shit with no facts, thats just why he thinks they are doing it and they sound crazy he's a fucking tard. I mean im not republican but it doesnt take one to notice this guys fuckin Jive and i hate people who just spread bullshit.

  • lol yea thats right, just so they cant finance the democrats. This guy is one of those blind democrat idiots, which is just as bad as a blind republican idiot. wake up people. btw this show sucks cock.

  • Union is garbage. Union SUCK! Union pays PENTIONS to people, and pentions are un american. Unions pay "legacy pay" and other crap. FUCK THAT!

  • The truth is, the internet is more important to people than ever. Take this election we just had for example: where did you get your news that wasn't from a biased newspaper or news program? the internet covers both sides because it's all people in the ultimate conversation. so, truthfully, you can do a lot with the internet these days

  • Dear, seesstickglue232

95% of what you get on the internet is ripped off and spun from traditional news sources anyway.

Not like the Internet is somehow uncovering some kind of ultimate truth. If anything it creates a lot more disinformation and myth generated by amateur / unqualified / uncredentialed 'news reporters' (like the guy in this video)and brainwashed partisans or people who think they're experts because they know how to type something into Google.

  • I agree, well said. I just wish the mainstream would do a better job.

  • I don't disagree with you on how information is gathered, what I should of said was that it's the mostly unfiltered and unsilenceable communication of people's ideas to one another that makes the internet so valuable. And I gotta point it out, dude stop commenting on every single comment. You're pretentious and condescending and acting like you think you know everything and instead of coming off as informative you just look like an asshole

  • Oh...I see...you want to tell me what I can and cannot comment on. You want to 'silence' me. Typical fascist.

  • Oh yea I'm going to trust some young hotshot Turkish guy. He seems to think that only Republicans are dirty politicians. A politician is a politician no matter who, what, where, when, or why they work. This guy needs to learn that the rich fuel the economy. They open business, provide jobs, and invest into the market.

  • just wondering if im still going to have to watch NASCAR, i want to know if my taxes will be funding guys driving around in circles

  • umm thats a lil bit convoluted... im not sure they had enough neurons to think that up

  • Listen to this man he is right on the mark, think about it do you think they are trying to kill the unions to help the workers of America NO!!!!!! They are working in self interest those politicians would not piss on you if you were on fire. It's the rich VS middle class

  • According to the Harbour Report (considered the auto industry's manufacturing productivity bible), GM has more plants today leading their respective segments in productivity than any other competitor, foreign or domestic

  • GM has reduced structural costs in North America by $9 billion since 2005; eliminated raises and bonuses for executives and salaried employees; and aggressively addressed its manufacturing footprint, shifting from trucks and SUVs to smaller cars and crossovers

  • Ford was profitable in the first quarter of 2008 before the economic crisis began. The company has been working for two years on improving its balance sheet through aggressive restructuring while accelerating the development of safe, fuel-efficient and high quality products.

  • So people need to research the facts before posting haft truths and speculations

  • A Transforming Industry

America's car companies were already restructuring before the financial crisis hit. All three companies have undergone painful but necessary transformations over the past few years that included the loss of tens of thousands of jobs, new labor contracts that will bring personnel costs in-line with foreign counterparts building in the U.S.,

  • Still not convinced? Then consider the following:

GM has two times as many models that get 30 mpg or better than its nearest competitor.

GM has eight hybrids on the road today with a total of 20 planned by 2012. What's more, the 2-Mode Chevy Tahoe fullsize SUV was named Green Car of the Year in Los Angeles last November.

The new Ford Fusion Hybrid and Mercury Milan Hybrid beat the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 6 miles per gallon

  • Fuel economy leaders, not laggards!Look at three popular vehicle segments and compare fuel economy ratings Midsize cars The Toyota Camry and Honda Accord gasoline variants are all but identical (slightly worse or better depending on the engine compared to the Chevy Malibu and Ford Focus.Pickup trucks The Ford F-Series and Chevy Silverado are as good as or better than their counterparts from Toyota and Nissan.

Minivans Chrysler is better than Nissan and Toyota and basically tied withHonda

  • Don't believe the critics American workers make products people want!

Fifty percent of the vehicles sold in this country come from America's car companies. Of the top ten selling vehicles, #1 and #2 are from Ford and GM. Overall, half of the total sales in the top ten are from the Detroit Three Chrysler, Ford and General Motors. The rest of the world has taken notice: motor vehicles and parts are the single largest export from the U.S.topping aerospace, medical equipment and communications

  • If American automotive jobs are allowed to disappear, they will be gone forever. Given the context, a loan to help automakers bridge this slump is a prudent investment that will pay back tenfold by protecting American jobs and America's manufacturing future.

  • The U.S. credit freeze has devastated consumer demand across the industry, and the timing couldn't be worse for this global financial crisis. That's because America's car companies are in the midst of a huge restructuring, massive pension and health care payments, and significant investments in advanced technology so that tomorrow's vehicles will be even safer and more environmentally friendly.

  • It's not a bailout!

The government is bailing out AIG, Citigroup, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Bear Sterns and numerous other banks and insurers in the financial sector. Automakers who are reeling in large part from mistakes made on Wall Street and in Washington are asking for a bridge loan to be paid back with interest.

  • Their going to get the loan money anyway its a done deal, Chrysler got loans in the 80s and paid them back with interest. Dont freak out, you should be freaking out over the 7 billion the banks are getting good luck getting that back

  • get another fucking job

  • TYT, very good video. Everything you said was true.

  • If they give the UAW our bailout money we need to boycott any product made by any company that takes the money. NO Chrysler products! NO GM products! Ford? Let's hope they don't take the money.

  • While your sentence really doesn't make any sense, I think you're questioning how my father and I would be making the same wage? I have no idea what you mean by "inflation go away."

If so, my father passed away, I'm using his salary from the last year he was working (about 10 years ago.) When he died, I was not yet making 60k as I am now.

  • Many gop Senators and people like them will next want our military to take pay cuts and lose there pensions. Next the police, fireman ect... shame shame on them. Soulless Evildoer fools. They are like sheep to the rich, foolish in thought and mind spineless jellyfish,is what they are.

  • I'm not necessarily taking issue with Cenk; he's always pretty straight up, but what I'd like to know is: (i) does his comparison include "effective" hourly rate including overtime, etc. or is this just a comparison between "nominal" wages; and (ii) does this include pension and other retirmement component to compensation, because all I've read on this over the years indicates that retirement benefits to RETIRED workers form a large component of the price of a domestice vehicle.

  • this vlog was sortof weak on the substance, cenk makes it sound more like a conspiracy theory.

  • Unions are extortionists. They dont own or run the companies...they just leech off of them. Tahts the difference. You say the unions want this and that for their workers huh Cenk? Not for much longer. :) You see, the American people are no longer interested in unions. Toyota and Honda have no unions, and that helps...THE CONSUMER! So...good bye unions. So long!

  • Problem? Unions. We need to oust the unions. Simple stuff here.

  • so what can citizens do to stop all this?

  • Hmmmm. Ford and GM had a plant in Atlanta, GA. Ford closed the plant, because Ford is not selling Tauras anymore. That was just stupid. Tauras was their best selling car. F-series trucks for a long time was the best selling vehicle out of all makes and models in the world. Ford along with GM and Chrysler just screwed themselves by making BAD changes. The CEOs need to be fired and drastic changes need to be made to the whole system of American automakers.

  • So when you hear bill o'reilly talking about the UAW people making $70 and $80k a year, remember that him and the rest of the right wing pundits are factoring in EVERY employees salary.

Obviously the wages are going to be inflated when you average in managers and supervisors who make $100k+ a year and the execs that make several million.

Hell, no wonder the average GM wage is $70 an hour. But, if you take actual blue collar, on the assembly line, grunt workers, its about $35 to $40k a year

  • Im gonna say one last thing on this subject because im done getting pissed about it.

First, to all you retards that listen to fox news and actually believe that UAW workers make $60 to $80k a year, you need to grow up. My wife before she was laid off made $13 an hour at GM. My grandfather retired at a rate of $17 an hour, and my father in law works at a rate of $22 an hour, because his jobs a little more specialized.

  • the usual from this channel. the republicans do nothing for the people but thats not the case for the democrats. oh no they couldnt possibly do anything against the nation. its not like their people went to iraq during the campaigns this past year and subverted the troop withdraw to take credit for it later. of course not.

  • Sarcasm, I assume.

  • Well Fred... Japan was alligned with Germany... Iraq was not aligned with Al Queda... appartantly... you are a dumb ass

  • Dear Tremordeth,

Who was talking about Iraq and Al Quaeda? ...DUMB ASS.

  • I wonder if this union hate will be as big as the "welfare queen" hate since they are antagonizing middle class whites instead of lower class minorities.

  • Republicans no welfare, No birth control, No free Education, No Unions, No Minority or gay rights, No Free Health care. But They will bailout rich white men so they can blow billions in bad investments which we have to pay for.

  • Why does Obama ...A DEMOCRAT... want to bail out rich white men then???

  • Yet Republicans are the only ones speaking AGAINST the bailouts.

  • "Our goverment is the cause of this and they want us to pay for it!"

Actually the government wasn't the cause of this.

There was no regulation and even Alan Greenspan has come out and said that a policy of no regulation during unstable times is one of the many reasons the economy is in the toilet. So no. It is not the governments fault that there was major mismanagements in the Big 3 or in Wall Street. Giving them loans is bad but to let them go into bankruptcy would trigger a Depression.

  • Republicans did not mind spending over a trillion dollars to rebuild Iraq for free but refuse to help Americans get health care are help Americans keep their jobs. Vitter is a joke who runs from the local press when they start to ask questions about his support of hookers.

  • Cenk,

Why do you waste the air from your lungs trying to explain republi-con's?

Those people will always side with White collar and fuck in the ass Blue Collar people. We learned that back in the 5th grade!

So let's remember kids, the republi-con's want every American worker to take a pay cut because you DON'T DESERVE IT! That's what they are saying to auto workers! Take a pay cut my fellow American!

How do these people get elected to office???

O yeh right, ONLY IN AMERICA!!

  • yes... how absurd it is to ask auto workers to take a pay cut when they are about to go out of business ... let the tax payers pay their salaries for building cars that nobody buys because they suck.

  • or they could ask the damn ceo's to take a pay cut while they make 10's of millions and could afford it easily... but no, hit up the little guy again. The repukes wont be happy until there is all out class warfare.

  • Yes "little guy " auto workers who on average make $60,000 and year, cost GM $130,000. a year and who get get nearly FULL PAY for NOT WORKING when they are laid off...from making cars that suck.

Yes...These poor, poor little guy auto workers... got to feel sorry for them.

  • And I think it's amazing how brainwashed the American public is too...

I say 'conservative' and this Liberal yuppie thinks instantly Im a republican...

IGNORANT BASTARD, GO BACK TO SCHOOL.

Here's what the liberals propose: Print Print Print, bailout everyone, at taxpayers expense.

So really, renijohn12270, you're the one with a foot in his mouth.

    Conservatives = Nazi's? (says jvj420)

Then everyone who voted Obama = German Citizen in the 1930's, IMO.

    Fuck you government loving liberals.

  • renijohn, why do you assume that everyone against this bail-out is Republican? Has it occured to you that some people aren't bound to team colors and actually think about issues instead of always siding with party dogma? I happen to be an Obama supporter who thinks left on everything from gay rights to less religion to helping the poor. I even think it's patriotic to pay taxes. But guess what, I think this bail-out should only happen if CEOs are fired and employees renegotiate their contracts.

  • The UAW ABSOLUTELY REFUSED, absolutely refused, to take a pay cut as a part of the bail out. So i say fuck those greedy motherfuckers! Thats just completely dumb on the part of the UAW, they could take a pay cut now or not have a job in a month. Hummm tough decision!

  • You're a dumbass. It's the CEOs that need paycuts. See my comment 2 comments below. Learn to actually RESEARCH the issue, before speaking.

  • It is hard to believe that today's Republican Party is the same party that under Abraham Lincoln opposed expansion of slavery, fought for higher education and fought against aristocracy and corruption in the United States of America.

  • wrong again, you homosexual

    this is about capatolism.

let gm etc... go under because they can't survive. period.

are there other reasons like unions and ceo bedlinings? maybe

but who cares... screw businesses that need welfare... let them go under

    period

if the workers get laid off let them get other jobs... if they can't get other jobs too bad. mom can't get a job selling mary k. and her only customer is dad!

F the auto workers, ceo's and ALL of 'em

  • Yup, F them all.

For every Union Job that overpays, another job somewhere else UNDERPAYS.

It's rediculous to say that because they're building cars, or they're in a "Union", means they should get more money.

I work my ass off for $12 a God damned hour, those damn overpaid auto workers need to get off their LAZY ASSES and find a new fucking job.

    The liberals = communist/socialist scum.

    *Peter Schiff 2012*

  • conservatives = Nazis

  • liberals= Nazis

  • Actually the nazis were right-wingers, but thanks for playing.

  • Wrong, Nazis were socialists and progressive...Hitler was a vegetarian.

    Nazi=National SOCIALIST Workers Party

Liberals are quite capable of being fascistic.

  • fascistic?

  • Oh Please...

The republican party represents despotism, monarchy, feudalism, and fascism.

nazi germany was a country full of confused idiots who thought some Germans were better than other Germans, who supported pre-emptive invasions of other countries, and who blindly followed a leader who lead them with hate and fear...

sounds more like a fuckin republican to me

  • yes ... good thing when Japan attacked the U.S. , DEMOCRAT Roosevelt decided to pre-emptively attack Germany, those Socialist lefty Nazi bastards.

  • Um, preemptively? Germany declared war on the US right after Pearl Harbor. Typical Republican, you know only enough history to make an ass of yourself.

  • Japan attacked the US...Germany didn't attack the US . U.S. Not suppose to attack a country that didn't attack U.S. right???...that would be called pre-emptive war.

and I'm not a Republican DUMB -ASS

  • FredFoothand, its been a while since ive heard anyone talk so much crap on youtube. Firstly, obama has no interest in bailing out the people who own the auto industries(also loved the way you said white men, kind of incinuating that obama would feel differently if they were black),but by saving the industry they will save a huge number of jobs and also will mean that more car's being sold are american which will keep more money in america and therefore boost the economy, which imo is a goodreason

  • Dear shifty1367,

Let's please examine who is the one actually "talking crap" here.

First, I never claimed Obama was interested in bailing out people who "own" the auto industry ... this is something you just said...I never said it.

I 'm also glad you love the way I said " white men" because I was paraphrasing somene else ...and NO doofus, I wasn't "kind of incinuating" (actually spelled insinuating ) anything.

  • Yes you are saying that he wants to bail out the people who own it, because who else would he be bailing out? And fine you didnt use those exact words, but you clearly have nothing actual to say in this comment as all you have done is pointed out that i didnt quote you exactly, even thought i never claimed to be using your exact words, and then just pointing out that i had one letter wrong in a word. If you have any real reasons why the industry shouldnt be bailed out please do share them.

  • Dear Shifty,

Obama as well as Republicans are more concerned with averting a larger economic disaster than they are bailing out the "owners" / CEO's.

Bail out shouldn't occur without extreme conditions applied i.e. Union concessions also.

BTW... I can't spell either but my Youtube page has spell check. A little sguiglie red line appears under words that are being misspelled.

  • Yes, of course obama is concerned with averting an economic disaster, and that is why he was pushing forward this bailout plan, and which is also why the rebublicans stopped it. because it is there to help the average person, not the CEO. And there are very extreme conditions that make this bailout very necessary, and believe me, the Unions will be 100% behind it, as all they exist to do is stand up for workers rights.
