  • I've read all the comments on here and this is what I can deduce. You're a bit of a troll. This car is clearly not what you claim and you just argue and then delete posts from people that you disagree with. It's quite sad actually. Having a RWD Scooby that goes stupid fast is cool. Lying about it being stock body (not with those tires) and being AWD is lame.

  • @iheardarukus what is sad is that you say you read everything, yet you forgot to read the video's description that clearly explains this car IS AWD, and that RWD is only engaged for the burnout.

As for deleting posts. If ppl can;t read and just want to troll, then they can expect their post to be deleted - pretty simple realy.

  • What "selectable" AWD to RWD transmission are you running? Subaru stopped making selectable transmissions in the early 90s. Unless it's got an auto in it, then you can switch between FWD and AWD.

  • @iheardarukus This is a highly modified fully manualised Subaru Impreza 4EAT AWD transmission, with billet output shafts and custom AWD/RWD selection switch.

If you have $13K you can buy one and see that it can be changed between AWD/RWD at the flick of a switch.

  • how did that subaru only hit 618 hp with 60psi?

  • i wanna get my subaru to that someday

  • what v8? what wheelie, what bullshit? IT SMOKED THAT YELLOW POS NEXT DOOR THAT HAD 2 SECOND HEAD START

  • 618Whp. Hahaha!

  • i love men

  • lol,i just had to said it jajajajajajajaja sorry for hurting your feeligs, but still an awsome record awd is not an easy platform to make run that fast

  • thisone isnt the fastest awd john shepherd is the fastest awd

  • @zaeta6 trolling much? John Shephard's awd is a MITSUBISHI, not a SUBARU. Please learn to read before posting.

  • @zaeta6 ahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I have a 97 impreza wagon and a 99 impreza rs and a 2004 subaru forester! I spent 6 YEARS working at subaru as an ase certified mechanic and even achieved the title of subaru master tech!!!! my screen name is a subaru engine code. I have built many cars and know what I am talking about! Clearly you dont know what you are talking about! To add tires that wide the suspension and UNIFRAME would need to be adjusted! Thats right the frame is built into the body of the car!!!

  • @ej22twagon lol, congrats on being a Subaru Master Tech, but every man + dog who owns a Subaru and mods it knows to stay well away from you guys ;)

Anyway, getting back to your comment. You'd be suprised what size wheels will fit under a WRX without any mods to the chassis - just use the correct offset and some panel work and you're good to go.

Check out NASIOC, there are a number of members running 10" rims on their street cars bud.

  • @ej22twagon I call that ignorance.

  • There is no way it is a stock chassis! the clearance between the rear wheels and the shocks is only about 2 inches with stock tires on it! The car is not awd!!! It is converted to rear wheel drive just like the Team Orange Drift cars! I know because I am an ase certified mechanic specializing in Subarus and have built several race cars!

  • There is no way it is a stock chassis! the clearance between the rear wheels and the shocks is only about 2 inches with stock tires on it! The car is not awd!!! It is converted to rear wheel drive just like the Team Orange Drift cars!

  • @ej22twagon - Stock chassis does not mean it can not have modified wheel arches to fit larger wheels. Also THIS IS AWD. Please read the many replies explaining this.

  • @unnefer1978 Do a quick google image search for a subaru chassis. It doesn't have a regular frame chassis like a lot of cars! to add wider tires with out them sticking of from the sides of the car you will have to move the suspension and cut into the body

here is a link to a picture of the rear end! you aren't getting fatter tires on there with out it being custom!

  • @ej22twagon lol, I think that is your problem - you are basing your comments on pictures you see on google. I actually own a WRX STI. It is in my Garage and I know first hand exactly what is and isn't required to fit wide tires.

And Like I have already said, many many ppl who own Subarus run wide rims without the need to move suspension - which btw, has nothing to do with it no using the stock chassis ;)

  • thats fast for 618bhp thats faster than gobstoper wi 900hp wtf! respect , wat size exhaust housin u usin on turbo wats most a ej20 will be able to fil, im looking at fitting a hx40 (i think its a similar size to the T72) and need to buy a new housing as one on its 17cm3 and i can get 9cm one but its expensive, or a 14cm thats cheap ish but watercooled or Ti for £300 more:) i got turbo for free and it was brand new so i cant send it back but i realy want t run it, any advice would be apreciated

  • You cant call this shit a subaru...

  • @marcky89869 - Subaru engine, subaru transmission, Subaru chassis, Subaru full body - definitely a Subaru.

  • @unnefer1978 i still think this shit is not a subaru anymore.

  • @marcky89869 - you're free to think what you like, but the fact is this car is powered by a Subaru engine, runs a Subaru transmission and has a full weight Subaru body on a full stock Subaru chassis. This car has more Subaru in it then most other "GM", "Ford" or "Chrysler" drag cars.

  • @beammark How do you figure? Just because of the RWD burnout? Ever heard of DCCD? Well a lot of AWD drag teams use it to get the rear tires nice and hot and then move it back to 40% front and 60% rear just like factory. Notice the size of the front tires at launch if it was RWD if would have some little tiny drag wheels and tires instead or a 9-10 inch wide tire. So it's still very much an AWD car you are just misinformed is all.

  • @getalife04 ahh missed that the first time. there is one just like it but just rwd and runs about the same times

  • @beammark Yeah i know which one you are talking about. I think it is running a twin turbo H6 instead of the STI motor with a massive turbo. Either way they are nasty fast! lol

  • @beammark - Yes it is. Clearly blind and can not read.

  • @unnefer1978 thanks

  • @unnefer1978 If it was AWD the front tires would burn out also. I agree, not AWD.

  • @ForgottenBasilisk the front dif is disengaged during burnouts so the rear tyres are warmed properly for launch. AWD is then engaged for the race.

  • @unnefer1978 That doesn't make sense though. Well, I suppose it does, but it would make more sense to burn all four tires, therefore have your front grab as well as the rear.

  • @unnefer1978 ya no kidding! I race these things all the time and that sounds exactly right. ppl really need to get into these cars before automatically dissing them. Agreed?

  • @unnefer1978 Ah! That would make sense. I've never had the chance to work on an AWD rig before, so I wouldn't know. Was just going on what I saw.

  • @ForgottenBasilisk read the description next time

  • @unnefer1978

    WRONG

  • @ej22twagon - either reply with a reason why I am wrong or your comment will be deleted.

  • @ForgottenBasilisk and the driver would not put them massive tires on front either.

  • Comment removed

  • @beammark if it isnt AWD then why is their wide slicks on front and back?

  • @beammark This IS AWD - clearly you can not read.

  • How come there are so many different meanings to the word STOCK!! You cant just buy a car from the show room!!!

  • @ICUhippo stock chassis if you read the title

  • @w14ntd maybe around a track, but DEFINITELY not in the 1/4 mile

  • nothing is faster than the 22B!

  • @Zalman15 lol

  • @danielblades785 How so man, Shepherd Talon runs 7.70's all day at 200mph... And he's still on the 2.0l block. To say that that subie is the worlds fastest AWD 4 cyl is just not true. Not trying to be a dick but please prove me wrong so I can get it right.

  • @danielblades785 learn to read - worlds fastest awd 4cyl SUBARU. SUBARU ffs.

  • The fastest all wheel drive Subaru 4 cyl is the ESX motorsports driven by Ali Afshar back in 2006 when it ran a 7.9 at 176mph.. check out the vid on the esmotorsports youtube page

  • @ESXmotorsports - awesome to see ESX Motorsports posting :)

Are you talking about your red subaru with the white racing stripes that ran 7.9? If so, then you of all ppl should know that car is a PRO-RWD car not AWD like TRP's ;)

  • @unnefer1978

No that's not correct. Our Subaru that ran 7.91 numerous times was All Wheel Drive. I drove it. It's the only Subaru that has ran into the 7's in AWD as far as I know. Modified auto 4EAT transmission. It was red with one big white stripe. Video's of it all over online. We had a test Subaru we used a couple times that was RWD, but that car was only used 3 times and only ran a best of 8.6 if I recall correctly. We used that RWD while the AWD car was being finished.

  • @ESXmotorsports Please post a link to the video's that are "all over online", as the only "7.9sec" subaru video from ESX was done at a test session and no timing was filmed in that video. Also, that run was in the Red subaru with the white stripe, which was the PRO RWD car. The red AWD car never did any better then 8.4sec. If you can link/post evidence showing an AWD ESX 4cyl Subaru running faster then in this video I will change the title. If not, the title stays how it is.

  • @unnefer1978

Hey I understand your concern, but I did a quick search for "Ali Afshar 8.02" as Youtube won't let me include the link in this reply. You can see the car launched poorly and really took off after the 60 ft mark, as even Kiven, one of my techs is disappointed with from his head nod. This is AWD. And the test video that you can't see the time is from Los Angeles County Raceway but only ran a 7.98. If I remember correctly the car ran 7.91 at California Speedway back in 2006.

  • @ESXmotorsports I just did a search and found that video, and although the ESX is quicker/faster, it is a full tube chassis drag car. So I will change the title of this video to the following and it will then be correct again:

Worlds Fastest Stock Chassis AWD Subaru WRX STI 4CYL - 8.358@163.16 MPH

  • @unnefer1978

No worries, I really like the fact that you're so into this. I ran that number 5 years ago and man is time flying by! but yes you're 100% right, it's a full tube chassis, carbon fiber body (channelled and chopped), but still used the Subaru symmetrical AWD, single turbo 2.5 4 cyl (with NOS for spool up). watching this video makes me want to go back out there again and run a fast time. Lets see what the future has in store for ESX.

  • @ESXmotorsports Cheers and thanks for the info. I was there over a decade ago when Dom set the world's fastest subaru time in his white subaru (10.08 from memory) and it was an awesome night. I've loved Subaru's ever since - although I have to say I have been less impressed with the ugly betty shape. Your full tube chassis car looks like a beast, you guys should do what Sam and Dom are doing and drop a Subi 6cyl in it and try and beat those darn rotaries lol

  • @unnefer1978

Both cars were red but the RWD had two white stripes and was the previous generation. the AWD was more of a pro looking chopped and stretched looking STI with one big stripe, but still AWD. I think part of your confusion might be that it ran in the NHRA MODIFIED class which was dominated by RWD cars, but that's because it was the only class an AWD car like ours fit into. Currently the AWD car is in Australia now and the RWD is converted to a new looking 2010 Police Race car.

  • fast !!

  • That turbo is so loud it sounds amazing.

  • @danielblades785

    EJ20 FTW

  • @unnefer1978 sweet man, you got a price?

  • @BugEyeSubaru link on our channel

  • @unnefer1978

Ah, that makes sense. Sounds like quite a pricey mod... I want one haha I wanna do some research on this gearbox, you got any info on what it's called? Who makes it? Thnx

  • @BugEyeSubaru - The car and the auto gearbox were built by TRP (Tony Rigoli Performance) in Australia. The auto is a highly modified Subaru auto that has been fully manualised and has a billet output shaft and upgraded clutches etc. They sell them if you want one - got to their website and click products and you'll be able to get more info about the auto.

  • @unnefer1978 rwd?

  • Not to shit in your cheerios but i have seen faster AWD subies

  • @EviljokerSTI - Feel free to post a link - but ensure the link isi to a Subaru, that is a 4 cyl (not 6cyl) and is AWD (not rwd) ;)

  • @unnefer1978 Ameeri-can med Centas Ah sick As HELL,try and get a Convo going with one here In Aus,no dice Mate, and not to mention theyah arent any Kangaroos, ore wallabies.just sayin.....fosters is a far superior beer and as long as were on the subject, the ol prime minister we got in australia was never one for having a good time just ask Steve irwin R.I.P he was our most valuable asset.....

  • @EviljokerSTI This one's gutted. lol! John Shepperd has an AWD Talon and is all steel that runs 7.7's. =)

  • But, the STI with a 6MT has a DCCD (driver controlled centre differential) which can be set so you have MOST of the power to the rear wheels but not all of the power. I think it can be a max 70/30% split.

  • Just gonna throw this out there... Subarus aren't the same as GTR's. GTR's can be swithched to RWD with the absence of a fuse. Subarus are AWD no matter what because the drivetrain is fully mechanical. Except in an automatic Subaru. If you remove and/or replace one fuse it can be FWD. But, In order to have a RWD 5/6 speed Subaru you have to weld the centre diff and remove the front axles. The owner of this car has obviously done so.

  • @BugEyeSubaru - This car runs a special built Subaru auto gearbox, not a manual gearbox. This Subaru auto they built allows allows AWD/RWD at the flick of a switch.

From the owner - Sam Rigoli

    Hi all,

Just thought i'll clear a few things up about the car. It is still 4WD and is 4WD for the entire run. The only part of the drivetrain that isn't subaru is the rear diff, we even use a standard subaru two piece prop shaft.

  • i got it it have the jeep technology 4x4 when they go offroad xD

  • question about the tittle , AWD STI ????

then how the fuck is the burnout possible cause i know for sure only RWD AND FWR can do that and please dont come with the bullshit of torque splitter mode

  • @Hebert6760 Do I honestly need to keep explaing this to ppl who cbf reading the comments? AWD is dissengaged for the burnout, then it is put straight back into AWD after the burnout has finished.

Did you even watch the video? Why else would they bother having drag slicks on the front.

  • @unnefer1978 so after the burnout the team jack the car up to put back the front axles then do the 1/4 mile run??

  • @Hebert6760 you do know that some cause (including lots of gt-r's) can switch from RWD to AWD? It's not a myth

  • @GTASAmovies1 they can from 80% rear and 20% front but not fully rwd so yeah...

  • @unnefer1978 come on ppl think! before you ask............

  • la cago..........

  • how the hell do you run a 8.34 with 618whp? lots of nitrous?

  • @inlinesk8r light weight car ...

  • How am I coinfused? Since when is a Talon a Subaru WRX STi? Please read title again, it clearly states fastest amd 4cyl SUBARU WRX STI ;)

  • I think your a tad confused unnefer1978, you see, that might be the fastest awd car in Australasia, but John Shepard's AWD talon was running 7.70's at 191mph back in 2006....

  • Sorry *Australia spell check owns me.

  • nevr mind the awd thing- this is the original 4 pot boxer engine??!!

  • Yes, it used the 4 cyl EJ engine - although I wouldn't call it "the original" ;)

I'd guess the only original parts in the engine would be the block, crank and head, but they would still have had work done to them to ensure they could handle the higher whp.

The rest of the parts in the engine would most definitely of been high peformance parts like forged pistons and rods :)

  • @phixion79 ah too late, np. Yup, this was still with the EJ 4cyl engine - however it was far from original, as it was fully built engine with aftermarket and custom parts :)

  • funny how this says awd but when he does the burnout only his back wheels are spinning and hes staying in the same place

  • During burnout the car is placed into rear wheel only, but only for the burnout, and then it is switched back into AWD mode. This is the exact same thing that GTR racers have been doing for years.

  • not awd thouugh

  • it's awd? cuz he did a burnout so... idk

  • @ShawnSubaru you can still down a burnout w/ AWD but this was RWD....the rear tires were smoking, not the front!

  • @cker101 exactly just making sure lol

  • Ali Afshar drives the worlds fastest Subaru. its pulling faster than 8

  • @guitarguyf50 Ali Afshar's is an EJ25 so it's the 2.5 motor. Just thought I would fill ya in on that one lol. so this is the fastest 2.0 WRX out there.

  • I also have an 08 STi lol. Both are fun as hell. The 08-010 STi also has a sport mode (S), Sort sharp mode (S#) an intelligent mode (I)

The GC8 (swapped GC) will more than likely walk on the newer STi if they both had equal mods or were just stock. Older body'e weigh a couple hundred punds less :)

  • That is 98-01 body style impreza. I am not sure if I have the correst born date but I know they stopped making the GC body style in 2001. This car is known as a GC8 (Subaru Impreza 2.5 RSTi). I have an 00 NA GC6 (sedan).GC8 is the boosted coupe. Skaterkid is right. The newer STi comes with c. diff control. You can shift the power manually or put it on automatic.

  • true but thats in the usdm. in japan for example they made this body style for most of the 90's and it was the impreza STI and has a 6MT.

  • Ahhhhh cool thanks for the clarification bro :)

  • True, very true.

  • @kdorthom - apologies but I marked one of your messages as spam, missed the reply button and youtube doesn't provide an undo.

Anyway yeah the newer Impreza models have a C DIFF adjuster in the central console, letting you adjust between a 65:35 (IIRC) and a 95:05 bias (rear:front).

Although the WR1 didn't come with this as my mate tells me.

  • Wow.......that's just a 2 liter too. Figured it was a 2.5 at least. Impressive.

  • i got a Q, i dont know much about AWD cars so i was wondering. If its a AWD how come he did a burnout with his back wheels only? is there a button to activate AWD on and off like a 4x4?

  • you can adjust the front to rear drive ratio....

    nice :)

  • i'm no expert and correct me if i'm wrong, but i would say they must have adjusted the front to rear drive ratio to about 85% to the rears and 15% fronts to give it a good launch and enough traction. Subarus are full time AWD. I own a 98 impreza wrx. I wish i could make mine go as fast as this, but at times i think it's fast enough lol. Besides to get it to where these guys have i don't think the car is any longer street driven. Evident from the massive tyres at the back.

  • Dude how about u let it go I've posted that shit a month ago. I don't think anyone really cares now. So u can go drive ur gay wrx

  • some people are stupid and dont understand how awd works... there is a center Differential and it puts more power too the rear then the front. and too get that power too the floor you need wider tires. and yes Jmenjii you can spin all tired on a AWD car off the start.. have you been in a cave on youtube your whole life? if so watch gymkhana 2 and watch ken leave the line in a 380hp subaru. spins the tires. omg there is a jesus

  • if it was RWD then why would they have those wide front tires? they would put skinny tires on there for less drag

  • the car would be 4wd yes after the burnout from a switch but for sure their is alot more power going to the rear wheels and only a little at the front.... So i wouldnt really say its real 4wd anymore

  • If the front wheel provide ANY power at all then it is definately an awd car.

  • Dude you just contradicted yourself lol any power at the front and to all four wheel be it at a different ratio still makes it AWD. All Wrx are AWD, i own a wrx and have a Toyota Hiluw which you can turn off AWD. Apparently the STI's, i'm not sure which ones but i dare say the more newer ones (correct me if i'm wrong i just heard it from a friend) have front and rear ratio control, so you can adjust the power to where you want.

  • I know that you need to get the rear tires hot to get better traction but it's pointless on an awd car. U don't c awd cars burning out do you? I didn't think so either

  • When you wont to break world records, you need all the help you can get. That is why they run those big drag slicks on the rear - and if they dont heat those big drag slicks up with a burnout those big drag slicks are useless to them. So they engage RWD, do a burnout to heat them up, engage AWD and then launch and break world records.

I don't understand how you guys don't understand this - it isn't that hard to understand.

  • ahh you just answerd my q in my previous post...Ok i thought the engage and disengage it.. makes sense... i didnt read any comments before i asked the Q lol.. fast ass subaru man, 4 cyl doin 8s wtf!!!

  • its not a 4 cyl its a eg33 6cyl still a flat engine though

  • what car did that engine come out of?

  • It says in the description EJ20 same motor as mine, making it a 2.0 4 cylinder

  • Were you dropped on your head alot? My guess is yeah, who do you thnk knows more a team of people that built an 8 second Subaru or you? Yeah a street awd car like a wrx, sti, or evo yeah they don't do it but they have a custom set up so they do a burnout. You are a total dumbass just let it go.

  • It's practically impossible for it to be an AWD because all the power in the take off is going to the back tires so probably RWD

  • Regardless of what you think is possible or not, this car is AWD. When in AWD mode, the power is spread between front and rear diffs like any other AWD vehicle.

  • There would be no point of doing a burnout if it was AWD. It's retarted. Why do a burnout and just get the back tires hot when it's an AWD car??

  • You obhviously have no idea when it comes to drag racing.

See those BIG ass drag tyres on the rear? They need to be warmed up for the best possible launch. To do this, TRP engages RWD for the burnout - to heat the rear tyres. Once the burnout is complete, they engage AWD again and stage the car ready to race.

  • Hi, i'm assuming you own a STI? Do they come with the control switch or was this sort of control an after market accessory which they put into the drag car?

  • usually if a subie is running this fast its not using an STI tranny if you listen he only uses 3 gears...

  • @nukemutant187 It used a strengthened subaru auto transmission.

  • @unnefer1978 yes i am aware of this, subaru has a 4 speed auto tranny that can be rebuilt.

  • @nukemutant187 yea subbie tranys =fail

  • @shushko69 hows that?

  • Because of weight tranfer that's why you heat up the back tires. Every Subaru on the road gives more power to the rear wheel unless they lose traction then the front kick. So when you gas the car the weight rocks to the back tires so if they have more grip then it will take off if they have the same as the front then they will spin too. I drive a 400whp wrx so I know what I am talking about. Trust me this car is set up perfectly.

  • Comment removed

  • Unnefer1978 it's a rwd don't talk like you know something when you don't please

  • lol and you do? Obviously you do not know anything and are just another youtube expert. When this car set this record it was AWD. Phone Sam at TRP and ask him 0297270695.

As I explained below, it engages RWD for the burnout and then engages AWD before it stages.

  • It's not a wrx. The motor is different, pretty much nothing is wrx except for the shell.

  • Please do not comment if you do not know. This record was set when the car had an EJ20 - the same used in all wrx's - albeit this one was obviously rebuilt to be stronger ;)

Also, there is a lot more then just a shell that is WRX - much more then you realise. Apart from aftermarket/custom engine and tranny mods, only things not genuine Subaru is the rear diff (It's a ford 9") and rear axles.

  • how is this car awd i just saw a burnout... explain that.

  • It can engage and disengage AWD. For burnouts it engages RWD, then just before it stages it engages AWD again.

  • no wheelie bar lolol

  • sorry to piss on your bonfire.. fastest subaru is RCM gobstopper

  • Since when? Gobbstopper is a great car, and built to compete well in all motorpsort, but it is in no way faster down the quartermile then TRP's car in the vid. Last time I checked, the gobbstopper was still running mid 9's ;)

  • RWD...... RWD Subaru record.... HUGE difference....

whats the AWD F4 record for a Subaru????????????????? lol...

and since when has Gobstopper been a drag car??? lol...

pure TA car, AWSOME TA car...

  • Firstly, you said gobstopper was faster, and it isn't. I didn't say gobstopper was bad or anything, just replying to your incorrect comment.

Secondly, this car was subaru awd and not rwd. Just live with the fact it holds the record (for now) and go troll somewhere else please.

FYI: the Rigoli's have broken and held the fastest awd Subaru record more then anyone else over the past decade (and still do btw). Pretty good for a family owned Aussie subaru workshop :)

  • so........ "w14ntd" and "eeeen321" look similar???

  • @w14ntd What time does the Gobstopper run? Fastest 1/4 mile or fastest track?

  • @w14ntd date

  • yeah 4cyl single turbo vs v6 twin turbo i wonder why...idiot

  • Most of the Supra's that run stupid fast times are usually single turbo setups.

  • Supra V6? I hope your not referring to the 2jz. Thats an inline 6. Nethertheless it would shit on a 2/2.5l 4cyl boxer as its a 3 (usually bored too) litre 6 cyl

  • look up fastest toyota supra in the world. they're way faster.

  • Fucking shit man. fastest titme i have seen in a video.
