Had my left hand done 3 weeks ago and still have some swelling and tenderness in my palm and top of my wrist. My left thumb is still numb, hoping to get back to work as a letter carrier in a couple of weeks. Not sure at this point, as I carry everything in my left hand when I am working.
I had both hands done months apart. 8 years as an art director in hollywood. 12-15 hour non stop work days for 5-7 day work weeks finally set in CTS Symptoms severely.
As far as I'm experiencing the surgery is a success and you can barely see the incision scars.
My mother had the open procedure done on both hands, months apart. Not to scare anyone, the first procedure went fine, but as had as it is to believe my mom WOKE UP from the general anesthesia in the middle of the procedure on the second hand. Obviously there was intense pain, and the reason was they did a lighter dose of anesthesaia because she had several other medical issues. Lucky one of the doctors noticed. She was "awake" for 10-15 seconds, but damn, no bill from anesthesiologist.
Just had surgery monday AM. Typin one hand.lol. Told me 15/20 min. Suppose to do endoscope thing, but mine was severe, nerve inflamed, so they cut it open So, I guess I just watched something similar to what they did to me, hopefully without the creepy whisper. But I think they took turns stomping my hand before they put the two miles of bandages.
Would this method be considered standard as oposed to the one where a special carpal tunnel camera instrument (no idea what it is called as you can see :p) is inserted underneath the in tact fascia and then slit open while extracting the instrument? The procedure with the instrument I described looked like it would be less damaging?
great!!!!!!!!!! this is going to haunt me for life!!!! i have to get this done soon, omw!!
