  • always an over-delayed metal distortion sound. ruins the demos. guitar world, please get a more versatile reviewer.

  • its not fair, paul makes every guitar sounds good.

    EVERY!

  • I'm not sure if those stereo fx are necessary.

  • Actually in my opinion, the non-road worn versions are probably the nicest under $700 instruments out there, and I've tried a bunch. All over Ebay for $500 or so. Gives my Axis Super Sport a run for it's money.

  • @cm0220ster do you mean the Classic 72 custom and the Classic 72 deluxe? i really want to get the 72 deluxe :D what is the difference between those and their road worn versions? besides the obvious relic

  • i really dont like humbuckers on a telecaster

    its just not right

  • @96FenderTele -I wasn't keen on the idea either, then i bought a squier tele deluxe for $200 and its is actually mindblowingly good.

  • where's the second ffs :/

  • besides aesthetics and price, are there any differences between the Road Worn Tele deluxe and the regular tele deluxe?

  • @empreme literally just the finish, the road wron ones being a satin nitrocellulose finish with the standard customs/deluxes finished in polyester.

  • is the deluxe basically a fender version of a les paul? with the 12" radius, double humbuckers, 3 way toggle? b cool if someone could reply cause i was considering buying one but i already have a gibson les paul with 60's style neck. any constructive comments would be much appreciated, cheers.

  • @spudvader86 It was originally designed to steal a bit of Gibson's thunder (HH + 4 knobs) It's more Firebird or SG sounding IMO because it doesn't have the soft, round low end of a LP Standard, but has a lot more presence and treble and a more pronounced attack. It depends what your looking for in a second guitar. Deluxe is a great funk/rhythm guitar and cuts through the mix like a strat when you add a little gain.

  • @thumzupp I was more concerned about the feel of the neck more that anything else. I started on mexican strats but bought a gibson les paul along the way and now i only play the les paul cause the frets on the strat have worn away and cost to much for such a shit guitar to repair, so this is y i was looking for the upgrade. I want the string action of a les paul on a strat neck profile. Any suggestions would be appreciated : )

  • @spudvader86 Well the neck on the deluxe is from a strat. This deluxe has a stop-tail piece, so string bending should feel more like an LP but from there surely action is the same universally :o set the truss rod correctly and adjust the bridge saddles how you want…?

  • @thumzupp The neck isn't from a strat, it's more like a les paul neck, a bit rounder and a bit fatter or somewhere in between so i'm told. The action on a strat is usually a bit higher because of the radius of the neck, the lower the radius the higher the action. Because u have a higher radius (on a les paul or this deluxe) then the fingerboard is a flatter so u can get a lower action. Cheers ne ways

  • ive played one of these things and it was the best feeling and best sounding guitar i've ever played. I would probably kill for one of these

  • he can play, but cannot dial a decent tone for a tele

  • i'll stick with Ibanez

  • i didn't liked the bridge coil on my deluxe.i changed it, and now it sounds amazing on my vox ac30 in al 3 switch positions.clean tones are cristal clear.

this guitar is original and unique.

  • @Picsie Hi, out of curiosity as im looking at buying this, what didnt you like about the bridge humbucker in the deluxe and what did you swap it out for? Thanks.

  • @Jalpow when i was using a distorsion pedal i was getting a whistle from the amp at higher volumes instead of feedback.I changed my bridge(classic tele) to fit my seymour duncan hot rail STHR-1, and after that my guitar sounded way better. If you buy this guitar check if the (bridge)humbucker is wired in series, and if yes, change it to parallel. It might make a big difference, and you wouldn't need to change it, but still, a seymour duncan on a guitar under 1000$ means an upgrade.

  • @Picsie I've got the deluxe and the buckers do put up quite well with distortion at high volume. Think the one thing i might change is the tuners. Them not locking, and at times not staying in tune very well is starting to annoy me

  • @jackwilliamnicol

Well...depends how you put the strings on it.Some cut the strings very short, and let them wind the tuner one or two times, but then the tension in the strings frees them.I let them as long as i can, so it stays in tune.Try this if your strings are too short.Maybe this is why it's not staying in tune.

  • @Picsie Thanks for the advice : D will try that next time I put a new set on.

  • telecaster = stratocaster + les paul

  • @ChucklesMginty does that make such an huge difference?

  • @kloaStoawonga Yeah, an extra note on each string

  • there are no problems. cause of:low demand.

i can tell you they are superb.

  • humbuckers? eh.

  • Some people don't get the Road Worn's, but they are for players that want a vintage looking and playing guitar, but don't have thousands to spend on an original one. These have a nitro finish too, unlike the original 72 Custom and Deluxe which have thick poly finishes, so the sound should be a little more open and airier. You could buy a standard model for less, but unless your sweat is pure acid, you are never going to wear a thick poly finish to make it look like one of these.

  • fender stopped the production of these 2 rw models

  • @300crd any references? They've barely hit the market. I googled and can't find squat to support your claim

  • @dsydorko

    hello,

try to buy one in a store or in the net, they all tell you the same.

    i got one /lucky

  • @300crd interesting... any idea why? Either there was a problem with them or they are being starve-marketed into a "rare status frenzy".... if the latter is true, dang Fender's being bloody crafty in the marketing department of late... Now I want one!

  • Orribile tecnica da vedere però bisogna dire che comunque per lui ha una certa efficacia.

  • maybe they are the ripped jeans of the guitar world, and maybe you can get a mim one and distress it yourself, but i just bought one brand new for 550, which is way cheaper than the regular mim. i couldn't turn it down, can't wait to get it. i'll play it with a pair of american eagle jeans hahah

  • @rufiopan1 where'd you get your new one?

  • @savethepenquin I bought it from a place called Rich's Music Exchange in Buffalo. I think they still have a Custom they're trying to get rid of. I love it. They're a little noisier than most humbucker equipped guitars, but nothing extreme, and they're totally worth it.

  • Tele deluxe used a strat neck...hence the curve at the end of the fretboard. Standatd teles use a squared off end like all tele necks.

  • What's the correct name on the Fender Road Worn Series Custom? Is it Fender Road Worn™ ‘50s Telecaster? Or is it just Custom?

  • can someone tell me the chord hes playing at about 1:37 plz

  • You could just get a '72 Deluxe MIM and distress it yourself. And save a few hundred bucks.

  • @nevikmoore the vast majority of guitars that people relic themselves look like shit. no realistic wear just abuse everywhere

  • Almost "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" without violating copyright. Nicely done.

  • fuck that thing sounds good

  • looks like the custom has a smaller body than the deluxe...

  • I love tele-cones!

  • sounds great

  • ...I'm disapointed, thats a stratocaster neck, they must save money using the same necks for strats and that tele...

  • @plpicher The original guitar (this is a reissue) had this headstock.

  • @AntiOwnage yeah i know but i'm talking about the shape at the 21th fret, strats are round and teles more square I'm not talking of the shape of the headstock

  • Eventually fender's gonna run out of customers that enjoy the same shit being recycled over and over again.

Also,, does anyone else see that they just make things more and more "road worn"

Eventually you'll be buying "road Abused" with cracked necks and chipped bodies

  • @ddontforgett i thought the point was buying guitars and beating them yourself

  • I don't get it....why ith would you buy a fake beat up guitar.......

  • sounds so teenager!

  • If the only had 22 frets :/

  • "is meant to play hard" an a soft tune comes out of his fingers haha 3:57

  • @Emceetem

  • @franconicolasvega

Yo tengo una Fender Telecaster Standard, Y LA AMO ! Tiene un sonido único !

    GO FENDER !!!!

  • @lexguitar Lo unico que no me gusta mucho, es el pickguard que tiene :/

  • I am a strat guy but one of my favorite guitars is the Tele Deluxe. I like the strat neck and the wide range humbuckers. I am more of a walnut finish guy and normally like my guitars new if they are, if you know what I mean. Great guitars not the best tone on the deluxe do to amp/pedal settings. Great guitars non the less. -PK

  • so what happens when a road worn guitar gets...road worn? does it like break or? haha

  • 5:20 i thought he was gonna play start me up at any second

  • @GuitarManFTW or 'Can't you hear me knockin'?

  • this guitar is pretty ugly, but it sounds good. i like Gibsons way more though.

  • Custom and Deluxe are fancy ways of saying "it costs you your right arm and leg"

  • @joniiboy I got my Deluxe 72' for £702

  • @joniiboy More like both your legs... would suck if you sold your arm and leg and found out you actually need to arms to play your "custom/deluxe" guitar... :)

  • @joniiboy Same price as any other road worn.

  • @joniiboy I respectfully disagree. The 50's Road Worn series Tele is priced about the same. If you were looking to buy an original '72 Tele, my guess would be a Deluxe or Custom would be a little cheaper than a basic Tele in todays market. The Custom's and Deluxe's just offer great options for people who like to play Telecasters, but doesn't mean they're more expensive.

  • beautiful instruments they are

  • I never got the point of Teles...at least for my rock concerns.

  • @seekah1 Teles have played an important part in rock actually. Most people see them as a blues country bluegrass sort of thing, but many rock guitar players use them. Jimmy Page used a '50 something tele on the Stairway solo. John 5, if your a metal guy, uses it fairly sucessfully, and MattRach (off youtube of course) uses one for a very puchy sort of rock and roll.

then again im a strat guy

  • @Emceetem Dude, if you cant read spanish you better shut up, you`re embarrasing yourself. what that guy said was that telecasters with a stratocaster neck is a deformation, he didnt say anything against the general design of the telecaster NOR the stratocaster... and he didnt even mention anything about the playability of any type of guitar. so please go study the idiom a little bit more if you want to use it, you`re just putting yourself as an idiot. jeez !

  • I think he needs to remember more buttons on his shirt.

  • the magazine had a sunburst custom

  • i would love it but i would probobly put seymour duncans or evh wolfgang pickups in it

  • HORRIBLE !! Una telecaster con pala de stratocaster es lo más cercano que hay a una deformidad hecha guitarra

  • @lexguitar y sin el puente tele......mas horrible aún...!!!

  • I've played tis guitar and its nice. But I am baffled as to why you would want a guitar that is pre beat up.

  • @ASuperModelSuicide its called charector

  • @bulletproofprs You mean character? Well a guitar that you've toured with and had quite some time has character with all of its scrapes and dents. But a pre worn guitar does not.

  • @ASuperModelSuicide

I am also baffled by people who want red guitars, or even blue ones. Get your heads out of your arses people, is it so hard to comprehend that some people might prefer the look and feel of a pre-distressed instrument?

Don't like it? Oh look, Fender will also see you a new regular looking 72 reissue Tele Deluxe & Custom. What an odd thing for them to do, giving their customers options.

  • @aussiegooner Oh the post modernity!

  • i missed Paul's fantastic playing, always keeping it fresh man, keep it up.

  • paul is better than kirk wahmet

  • i only watched this video because his playings so boss:D

  • i like that it has a strat headstock, but that word worn shit is gay. who wants a guitar that already looks like its been thru hell??

  • @ryankuisti Youd be suprised my friend.

  • @gh3rckl3gend wat wud suprise me?

  • @ryankuisti You said who would buy a guitar thats all beaten up and marked up, and i said youd be suprised who would buy them.

  • @gh3rckl3gend

I would buy this over a standard Strat or Tele any day. I just like the look and feel of them a lot more. But that is just me :-)

  • Very nice instrument! CAN HAS? O:

  • Fender didn't announce this guitars yet, in the site doesn't appear

  • cmon dude play some radiohead.

  • @Dulnlop Radiohead sucks

  • @Dulnlop GTFO!!!!!!!!!!!! FAGGIT!

  • @YonOtto Real mature, and you spelled "faggot" wrong oh high king of the exclamation point.

  • @screechweasel gud lord you suck at teh interwebz XDDDD

    GTFO newfag!

  • @YonOtto radiohead are good, and plus the guitarist uses these types If I'm correct

  • @Dulnlop

Paul's demos are complete improvisation. He doesn't play any specific songs/riffs.

  • @Shawskee actually he makes everything he plays in the video before the video

  • he says "particular" a lot in all these reviews

  • @RaidenNoKishi gotta agree with you on that one, its obvious fender only do it for marketting but on the plus side atleast if you bought one you coudld later sell it on as new!!

the fender wide range pickups are really nice and clear pickups for humbuckers, most people question why they even put them in because when you back off the volume abit they do sound very singlecoil like

  • Oh God that sounds awesome...cotta get me one of those Deluxes. what amp were you runing that through to get that tone?

  • @RaidenNoKishi damn straight

  • I Wouldn't Buy a RoadWorn Guitar! I Like to RoadWorn them Myself But not By purpose but by experience and time!

  • This Guitars are Ugly! They look like Thin Line Teles Mixed With Strats!

  • What amplifier is he using? He has great tone.

  • Sorry-I'll beat up my guitar myself

  • its funny how he said "this is meant to be played hard" and then he comes out with these soft chords lol

  • @geeksterz I was thinking the same thing :P

  • Fender's Road Worn series: The ripped jeans of guitars.

  • he has like the best job in the whole world

  • i think the first sounds like a tele/strat xD pretty cool sound:D... but i like the standart design more...

    great

  • Paul You Rock!

  • man paul is amazing how he makes every guitar sound like it should...i wish i could play like him

  • @ChucklesMginty Agree.

  • who would want that???!!! it looks so stupid

  • @BUFFW I like the look of the flat paint and the scratch on the bout, but the back scratches are meh :\

  • these are sick guitars for just fucking about on but i could never use one unless i was fucking about cos im a metal player and they just dont feel good for metal and also they should add a fucking comfort cut to the back of tele's so its not so square

  • :) woohooo 11th
