  • Country today is pop garbage! Get back to the roots, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie!

  • Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-Haaaa!☺

  • like a fine wine

  • This video went viral on Prague

  • be still my heart. no one will ever sing like this.

  • Notice how he barely moves and stands in one spot, unlike the shitty artists today who rely on fast movement, pyrotechnics, and bright lights to grab your attention, this man did it only with his voice...they dont make em like that anymore RIP Johnny Cash

  • @Layzie20918

Well, as a musician, and a singer at that, I gotta say, the reason they jump around and stuff is to put d show.

  • The 'best' of the 'best' - best cowboy song, best & most charismatic entertainer by far, only Elvis comes close. This performance will live forever . . . R.I.P.

  • Such a gifted voice.

  • Suck a gifted voice.

  • Comment removed

  • i this song, and it was the inspiration for the Doors song "Riders On The Storm"

  • down in front 2:53-2:57

  • Great song, great man. Can´t beat that.

  • I don't like country music, but Johnny Cash is an exception. Johnny is the best.

  • No hay palabras, su voz cantando este tema me hace hervir la sangre, Johnny Cash REY DE REYES! Seguramente es un jinete en el cielo :)

  • Beautifull!!

  • I LOVE JOHNNY CASH!!!!

  • a bit spooky song... but i feel like a cowboy riding alone wheever i listen to this song

  • Where is the "hell yeah!" button?

  • Great song, great man. Can't beat that.

  • I love playing this song on guitar. I feel like a stoned cowboy on a horse.

  • regardless of what genre you prefer; johney took the stand for 30 years and made more than anyone to this date ever wished to

  • We miss you Johnny

    from Saudi Arabia

  • Its cool for me to see people who listen to other people who listen to other types of music, that grew up with this stuff. I listen mostly to R&R (1950s-1989, roughly), and blues, but I grew up with this (and other genres that was on the fam comp). And I totally agree that one needs to be open to other music, for the reasons mentioned...

  • youtube has made many a musician immortal

  • @chickenrich86 lol youtube didnt make this guy immortal, he wouldve been regardless

  • Two things are evercool - tintin and johnny cash.

  • The man. Is . A god.

  • The first piece of recorded music I purchased with my own money was Johnny Cash, Folsom Prison. Of course the second was Led Zeppelin II but to this day Johnny remains near and dear to my heart. As long as his name is remembered Johnny is still alive.

  • i always thhought this was a King Kurt original, i was wrong

  • MAGISTRALE

  • not his song!!!"

  • awesome....

  • very outstanding

  • I got here because of ghost rider.

  • man I wanted to be born at this time....johnny cash is the man

  • This is the most powerful I've ever heard him.

  • Check out the original recording by Burl Ives too.

  • He looks gorgeous in his clobber :-)

  • Our male choir sang this. That was way back in my tenor days.

  • Is it me or does he sound a lot like John Wayne??

  • 97 doesn't snort fire...

  • 97 will never catch that herd!

  • i love the trumpets

  • I'm a Metal Head too but this Johnny song is one of my al time favoraite songs done by any artist.

  • his voice in this song is something that no american idol contestant can ever capture or understand.

  • local jobs (-careerfair.info-)

  • What I would've given to be there at that performance..

  • Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful! I'm listening to this song for the first time and it feels like I've known this my whole life. :)

  • Back when America was a noble country!

  • I love this its very awesome !!!!

  • RIP from ireland Cash u legand

  • a few weeks ago, i was watching some show on tv ....and they are ok....J Cash or Elvis....everyone was oh hellll no...you cant ask that question!!! How can u choose? They are both Kings...Elvis was the King of Rock and J Cash is the King of Country/Outlaw music..u just cant choose...I love both .is like J Cash is one man everyone likes...no matter what culture or music style they are into..somehow somewehre everyone knew J Cash and admires and respects him.

  • im afended because i live in Texas! yipee quiyah....

  • Não sou muito fã de country, mas Johny Cash é uma excessão

  • Over 50 artists have covered this song, but Johnny's version is by far one of the better ones!

  • this just breathtaking

  • cash didnt write it though he just sang it . the only reason everyone loves cash so much is because of his vocal chords....if he had a diferent voice people would be like yeah whatever.....

  • @dawson668 Never the less.... People like him for his vocal chords and that is why we like other songs too: Because of their artists' vocal chords. (at least a part of it) Now, Cash has some good music, and some good covers... Still he's so big that I can't think of any artist living today that will reach him even to his knees.

  • I have always had a clear picture in my mind of that dark and windy day. Horse back riding in a field that has to small of bushes to hide in, and seeing the ghost riders riding aacoss the sky. I was a 5 yrs old or younger seeing that vision and to this day it remains the same and I'm 34 now

  • I love metal. I have a Pantera tatto even but cash is just fucking epic. I grew up listening to him and hank and the other outlaw country singers. I love them all.

  • When Johnny sung it, he meant it.

  • im metal fan and i love JC for his awesome voice and lyrics. RIP johnny

  • My dad (rip) played on the grand ol'opry stage as lead guitar and bass......and he played for the BEST!!!! but this one is the greatest of all time!!!! years later....he played in his own band...and when i would walk in....he would instantly change the song they were playing...to ghost riders! what a great memory for me....may the greats RIP!!!!!!! also when i first heard this song i was very young, sittn in a diner in clinton, indiana...i made evrybody be quiet so i could hear it!!!! lol

    goosebumps.

  • moro nikke :D kuuntelet paskaa musaa

  • This is one of the greatest versions of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" I've ever heard...My roommate is a big "Ghost Riders" fan, and he enjoyed Johnny Cash's haunting and eloquent performance...Thank you for sharing this musical posting...

  • love this song

    rip johnny cash!

  • this is one amazieng song

  • I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but Fred Penner led me here. I've listening to his cover of this song (shivers going up and down my spine), since I was three.

  • This is an epic song, love it.

  • RIP Johnny Cash im sure your riding in the sky now too...

  • Cash R.I.P, your music will never die! Legend! One word and thats; Legend! i repeat L to the E to the G and then END, but this will never end. This kind of music will live forever.

  • I can play 1:18 to 1:42 on guitar. Amazing song played on the 3 last strings!

  • Johnny Cash is great!!! Even when my Favorite Music is Gothic Metal And Industrial

  • I'm a stone "Iron Maiden" fan, but Cash was The Man. And that's all she wrote and that's the end of that.

  • Rest In Peace Johnny Cash

  • Storm started a few minutes ago. I'm going with both Johnnys [Cash & Walker] on a little walk.

  • J. C. deserves to be in any music hall of fame!

  • I am not aware of any other singer with such voice control at such low frequencies.

And a man with a heart to boot. He is with God now....

  • @1stREMESquaddie

Good analysis and judgement. Thumps up..

  • @1stREMESquaddie I remember in 1964,I was eight years old and living in Lacey,Washington. My dad had the Johnny Cash album ''Ring of Fire''.everytime I hear Johnny Cash,I think of those days......Johnny Cash was a national tresure.I think you are right on,I don't know ANYONE who had such great voice control at lower ranges. He was a REAL MAN,not some pussified eunuch who is emasculated by our ''culture''..He is indeed, singing before God,who I have heard is a Johnny Cash fan! Semper Fidelis!!

  • When I saw June Carter and Johnny Cash on stage, I got goosebumps. Almost makes you cry.

  • I swear to god i heard this on Fallout new vegas,

  • This has to be the most epic song in the world. Johnny Cash does it the best, although there are a number of other fine covers out there.

  • how come in some versions he says yippee-i-ay before yippe-i-oh? I always sing it how this version is (with oh first), but why does he switch it up sometimes and which is the original?

  • @TH15x15xMYxOMeGA I think Roy Rogers' is the original with the sons of the pioneers.

  • Love it!

  • jinetes el en cielo

  • I am a METAL HEAD, at 44, yes, I grew up with it and still listen to it every day. But I also grew up listening to C/W music like Johnny Cash, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Tammy Wynette, and Dolly. As well as a plethra of music interests from my aunts and uncle. I appriciate all types of music, and Mr. Cash has always been a long standing favorite artist in my book of music. One should not be closed minded to any music, for it all embeds the soul.

  • @SinsiousSiren Wow, are you my long lost sibling? I too am a speed/metalhead. Im 46, and i have been rockin forever, but just as you, i grew up listening to old school country western on my aunt and uncles ranch. At the time, here in central california, that was the most popular music, and it opened my eyes to many different sounds and styles of music. Long live Johnnys music!

  • @SinsiousSiren Yes I agree with you. It is important for someone to have an open mind and listen to different types of music. That is what made the difference between the Led Zeppelins, Stones and other British groups. They listened to and appreciated jazz and blues which allowed them to create great music. The Who was playing their own brand of jazz before they became a rock band. Groups who grew up only listening to what we call classic rock like Van Halen etc. was very limited in scope.

  • Love the lyrics and no one sings this like Johnny Cash

  • What if Johnny Cash were to stroll onto the stage at American Idol? hehe Simon would freakin faint hehe (yes, I know he's dead..I'm jusy saying what if)

  • @QuanticoSniper It would be a great Moment

  • When johnny comes marching home.

  • No "American Idol" crap, here!

  • Think it´s playback

  • Thumbs up for the Blue Brothers!!! Long Live Johnny Cash!!!

  • Just listened to the live version he sang when he was much older. They sound the same because they were sung by the same man with the same voice.

  • where is his guitar :O ?

  • Few days ago, some friends of mine were talking about music. They were talking a lot about rap and stuff like that (That auto-tune shit that I hate) and I told them I wasn't a fan of that.

They said "Oh please don't say you like country music"

I said "I like Johnny Cash."

That had our conversation go on for about an hour, and we talked about real music.

    Johnny's music.

    RIP Johnny Cash

  • @TheMasterTelevision your not alone in this world of bad new musics

  • weird seeing him without his guitar...

  • @ladyintheradiator187 i said the same thing. its kinda missin somthin

  • Johnny Cash,Elvis Presley,Frank Sinatra

They seem bigger than the whole universe to me

  • I always have this song stuck in my head when I ride my horse.

  • This is the best (and for me the only) version of this song...the rough low voice of Johnny just vibrates through you as you listen to it, almost as if you can feel the horses thundering by...miss you Johnny Rest In Peace

  • This really brings in image of a western to mind. The first time I heard "Knights of cydonia" by Muse, I also thought of this. If you haven't heard it, listen to the guitar riff and the drums, which are meant to sound like a horse gallop. To me, they both have the same imagery. Keep in mind I thought this before I saw the video, which is a bit of a western.

  • A brilliant contribution to western music and Americana Directions like Tears of the Moosechaser.

  • iiipppiiii aaaaa ooohhhhhh

    iiiippiiiii aaaaa eeeehhhhh

  • This is the first song I ever sang on stage. I only started singing a few years ago.

  • Burl Ives was the first to sing this song back in 1948. But Johnny Cash sings it the best..

  • These songs tell stories, you can imagine in your head whilst you listen

  • I can dance all night at a rave, jump up and down at a metal concert, workout to electronic/hip/hop but none of it compares to just listening to Johnny Cash. It's an activity in its self. He's a story teller.

  • I just wish that there were more like him these days. But then again, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

  • this my friends is a true american idol

  • cary12c1 Thanks Cary I guess I'm just one of those who get lucky now and then in their life... Ray!!!

  • Holte Enders in the sky!

  • RIP! An amazing singer ever! I remember when i was a little girl listening to this with my dad. AWESOME!

  • american Icon!

  • oh to have been old enough to see this ledgend live, nothing nowadays comes close to this guy

  • There have been a lot of greats to sing this song, but in my opinion nobody does it as well as "The man in black" . Country music singers need to remember their roots!!

  • I used to cut firewood for him and his parents who lived across the street. Nice people all.

  • @Bradyvilleboy You sir are a liar.

  • PAULFC93 Thanks Hoss... I know what you mean... I came close to it my self !!! Ray...

  • Somebody stop that wild crowd from rushing the stage! where is the security?

  • We played this song at my Dad's funeral 2 days ago. Has alot of memories of him behind it. It was one of the only songs he would sing to us...

  • no guitar in his hands? WOW

  • I think it was initialy sang by Frankie Laine which has a little more 'epic' character. But Johnny's version is unique too.

  • i love johnny cash im cherokee indian so its nice to hear his songs

  • johnny rest in peace you were one of the best

  • johhny cash was the best

  • Im a metal fan. Thrash is my bible. But this song gives me chills, Cash means so much.

  • @OlieGuitarFREAK he dos he realy dos

  • there only one johnny cash. he sing it best

ghost rider in the sky i due recall that song.

  • A really terrific version-Johnny Cash was one of a kind!

  • My grandpa used to speak the lyrics to this song all the time. He passed away about a year ago and when i listen to this song, all the memories of him come flooding back. I'm planning on getting a tattoo somehow including this song.

  • My Dad used to sing this to me as a kid, love it! :D

  • @ironmaidyn My dad sang many Cash songs to me. I know what you mean. Hope you still have your dad. It is nice to listen and remember.

  • Yes!!!!...I know that Buddy....Thanks....Ray..!!

  • my dad met him drove him around caught 5 of his harmocnicas and sang with him all before i was born...would have been cool to meet him R.I.P brilliant song man in black 4 eva

  • This really is a classic - as was the man. His status as a legend is well deserved.

As for a favorite J.C. piece, for me its a toss up between "I Walk the Line" and "Ring of Fire"

  • Forget Taylor Swift- this is the country music I like.

  • Yeah I thought that was the greatest!!

As you said LUCKY....Thanks and have a great day. Ray

  • @Rayzpik .....Thanks PWRofDiesel, Have a good one...Ray!!!

  • Of all of Johnny's songs that I thrill to hear, and there are many, I believe this one shows the strength, range, and beauty if his voice the best. Also, notice the audience, they are captivated until the last note.

  • Johnny Cash is one of the best.God bless him,He will be forever missed!

  • Johnny Cash will never be forgotten..... loved and missed by all generations

  • i miss the old days. when times was good. but the only thing i dont miss is listening to a 8 track player because after listening to this song or another favorite you had to click the button three times and then listen to another song or two before you could get back to this one to hear it again. lol that was what we called fast forwarding back then. lol and when they made cassettes it would wear out rewinding and fast forwarding all the time to get back to a song in less than a month. lol

  • the man can give you chills rip my friend

  • Dedicated to my Brothers & Sisters Bikers.

  • absolutley the best !

  • he didnt even tweak his voice in his cds, unlike the exuses for washed up copy-off has been singers today

  • awesome!

  • what a man a mans man

  • that voice .....just unreal

  • NOTICE he sounds the same on mic as on CD he can actually sing not like all these so called *singers* today

  • @Claminikaa You hit the nail on the head. Nothing fake here--I'm glad I got to grow up listening to his music.

  • @Claminikaa I think he sounds better live

  • @Claminikaa very true but he definately sounds better on records rather than cd's

  • suuuuuuupeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

  • Didn't he get this one guy out of prison and try to change his life before the guy in question committed suicide?

  • @patu8010 Yes, it was Glen Sherley who wrote Greystone Chapel recorded by Johnny Cash. On his release from prison he toured and performed with him until he threatened the life of Marshall Grant.

  • dosent matter, still awnsome... and im a metal man:0))

  • he is the best
