I have to agree with the comment about the visual portion of this montage being amazing, but the music doesn't seem appropriate. I also agree with that commenter that the music is a surefire way of messing up the new movie, and that is probably my biggest concern about this project. The music for Dark Shadows needs to be moody and atmospheric, not "teen angst." I am hoping that Brian Eno is being charged with handling the score and that he has a clue what is required here.

I loved the scrapbook...I remember watching Dark Shadows with my mom back in the 60's...there WILL NEVER be another great soap opera as this one....and I don't believe that no matter how hard they try and no matter how many remakes of this show they do...they WILL NEVER do justice to it...LONG LIVE DARK SHADOWS.

Love this collection. The best I've seen. As young as I was, I just fell in love with this show. Being a Rhode islander who later lived in Newport for many years, I felt a close connection to everyone on the show as though they really had lived right there. Jonathan Frid was so loved later on in life too. I am so glad he knew just how much his fans loved him. Thank you for the fond memories, BaronVonBlixberg! The photo of Johnny Depp, brilliant. I too hope the movie will be true to the original

These pictures are unbelievable!!!!!! The music really sucks....which is probably what will ruin the remake!....It will be some angst-ridden song, that they think all the kids will be drawn in by.... Not creepy or spooky, at all, no haunted, vampire, ghost, witch stories--but some bubble gum teeny booper rocking out to some stupid boring grind pop, who says "lol" every 5 minutes... in that, you are only repelling true fans of Dark Shadows.

And as far as repelling true Dark Shadows fans....you are one of the few people who have ever left a negative feedback on any of my 75+ DS tribute videos...and that includes positive feedback from some of the DS actors themselves! As for the music....I thought it had a haunting quality that fit this video quite nicely!

This is GREAT. I like how it shows the texture and feel of the show. Jonathon is a legend ! The rest of the cast is also excellent. Dan Curtis was way ahead of his time. GREAT, GREAT SHOW.

Baron does a FIRST CLASS performance putting this together. RIP all the great performers from Dark Shadows that are no longer with us but live on forever thanks to M.P.I. DVDs of the show.

I love this video and the music. Johnny Depp is such a talented actor, if anyone can do justice to J. Frid's portrayal of Barnabas, I think Depp can provided that Depp retains the aspects of the character that so many of us love, such as the goodness still in Barnabas' soul (that is, not a portrayal of just another evil vampire). What worries me most is Tim Burton's influence, I can't say I've liked any of his movies.

There were so many great actors on that show. I think Johathan Frid was a good age to play Barabas. I think Johnny Depp as good as he is, is just too young to play Barnabus. Barnabas needs gravitus. I love to see videos of Johnathan Frid out of character, he is not like Barnabas at all, he is funny and cudley-I think they call it acting and Johathan Frid is soooo good!

Yes, but Johnny Depp looks much younger than forty-six. And no offense meant to Jonathan Frid (whose work I adore), but he did look older than forty-four. By today's standards, he looks like he's in his fifties.

I'm sure Depp will look the part once they do the make up and wardrobe...he is a very good actor and can adapt to fit any part he plays. Plus it helps that he was a huge Frid fan when he was growing up...so I am sure he has the image and essense of Barnabas down pat...

Frid began the role at the age of 42 years in April, 1967. There are times, such as in 1795, and in the later PT episodes when Frid appeared younger: less makeup, eyeliner, and feathered bangs. When in full vampire mode, the makeup tended to be layered on, giving him the careworn, aged appearance you'd expect from the living dead. He also looks younger in many candid shots. His appearance on "What's My Line" is evidence of this, although he was dressed as Barnabas.

I hear that Tim Burton is making a Dark Shadows movie based on the TV Series, and not remaking the House of Dark Shadows movie. I've also heard that Johnny Deep is going to be the role of Barnabis Collins.

I love House of Dark Shadows and own a copy of it. So I'm looking forward to see what the movie brings.

You know I love Johnny Depp and everything, but isn't there anybody else out there who could play a dark role? How about Jude Law? or Tim Roth? or Daniel Craig? They are all very strong actors that could carry it off with enough of a polished civilized sophisticated appeal to be accepted in a character that MANY people love. I don't think Depp has that! I would love to see a remake but only if they take it seriously.

Did you know that Depp grew up idolizing Jonathan Frid? As a kid he used to swipe his mom's onyx ring and wear it to school. He IS taking this role very seriously. He has bought the rights to Dark Shadows & has gotten friend Tim Burton on board for the project. With out Depp this movie would not be in the works at all.. He's said in interviews that it's his way of paying back his childhood hero by bringing this tragic vampire character to a whole new generation. He can play dark..watch S Todd.

I saw him in Sweeny Todd too, I counted the days from the trailer to opening day. The whole production was eye candy. I just LOVE DS and hope to see it done well. I am currently watching it for the 3rd time through from the beginning - I'm in the 1795 storyline right now. It was my all time favorite show, and affected all of my movie and reading choices over the years. My absolute favorite~~

DS was the forerunner of all the tortured vampire story lines to follow-- Buffy/Angel, Anne Rice's, True Blood, Twilight. Even though Dan Curtis borrowed a lot from other horror genres, this was his idea alone- pure genius. I can't wait for the movie, but I wish someone would do a good remake of it as a soap opera or at least a night time series. I didn't like the Ben Cross one so much in the 90's. what's your opinion?

I agree that Depp is such a gifted actor that he can play any part he chooses with great power and conviction. However, I think he is a bit too old for the part of Willie. I don't think Depp is trying to top Frid or be selfish in reviving this role. I really think he just wants to pay homage to his childhood hero and at the same time bring this beloved vampire character to a whole new generation.

Depp. Does he look that old though? He has such boyish features which are why I don't think I'll like him as Barnabas. He can act alright but the character of Barn has that remorsefulness that Frid's marvelous character features gave a presence to. Frid's handsomeness is unorthodox while Depp's is so perky as to look untouched by an outside evil. That is: He's awfully pretty for Barnabas. I defer to your explanation, but for me Frid is it!

Depp is 46 yrs old...which is around the same age Frid was when he originated the role. I never really considered Depp as pretty...in many of his roles he looks rather rough and rugged. And as far as his acting ablities he can portray a remorseful and forlorn character...he often has a haunting quality in his acting ...just watch Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow or certain scenes from the Pirate movies. Frid was Depps childhood hero...so who better to portray this role? Who would you have picked?

Good comeback. Frid has a nose, large ears and a an acne scarred face, while also sporting a kind smile, sonorus voice and gave Barn an old fashoined sence of decorum and civility. Depp has a pug nose, pretty lips, uuch!, and an aging rock-star boyish charm. Impish really. Portrays cunningly evil, victim, or drunken pirate well. My pick? Go to the Shakespeare festival and find an unknown character actor. I did like Frank Langella's Dracula. I f he were yet still 46, ah class

Loved it. Watched this series when I was 13 and I've just started watching the box sets and after 42 years, Frid still has IT. Much as I love Johnny Depp, I'm not sure he can top Frid as Barnabas. BTW, Depp is as old now as Frid was when he played the role, food for thought.

I enjoyed this very much. This is the first scrapbook of DS I've seen. Great pictures and a suprise picture at the end. Maybe this is a painting of what our new Barnabas will look like in the new upcoming movie. How did you find it? It's neat how you put our real Barnabas in front of the new one. You put a lot of work into this video as so many have. Thank you for keeping DS alive. These homemade DS video's should be part of a movie and put all together as a movie. I love it.
