I don't think I ever missed an episode of Dukes of Hazzard as a 7 year old when the show first came out. I could hear the introductory music playing in my room because I would leave the TV on and would sprint up the stairs to my room to watch.
I do remember they tried to make a show called "Enos," about the Rosco's partner? I remember seeing that and thinking "they are scraping the bottom of the barrel."
@mrceebees14 Yeah, great kid memories for me to. I was also 7 also when the show came out and my Friday nights from 79 to 81 consisted of watching Hulk and Dukes back to back. I was aware of the time and knew I had to be home on Friday nights by 8pm, the good old days, sorely missed. Yeah, I watched Enos and agreed a bad idea but at least he came back to Dukes.
@videozfann That is so ironic, I was a HUGE Hulk fan, which came out before Duke of Hazzard I think did. I had the lunch box and I think I was the Hulk for Halloween back then haha. The only other show I totally loved was "Happy Days," there is a picture of me in the family photo album of me giving "the fonze" "heeyyyy" double thumbs up on our porch of my parents old house.
man i wish i could grow a sweet head of helmet hair like luke and vance, they could literaly take there hair off and switch with each other and u wouldnt notice
@GBev2K Yeah, that must have been an awkward scene to shoot for everyone. This is what happens when producers try to backtrack and fix a wage dispute midseason. They should have given Wopat and Schneider what they wanted in the first place or rode out their mistake until the end of the season and recast during hiatus. Waldron learned the hard way who the stars of the show were and it wasn't the car like he thought. Looked uncomfortable onscreen.
@Koldeman Actually Waldron was against it as well of recasting after Tom and John left. He thought it would not work either but the executives at Warner did whatever the hell they wanted. Bad move though on whoever made tthe decision. Agreed! you could see the tension on screen and Schneider and Wopat eating it up.
Ever notice how the scenery was so fake? Look at how all 6 of them stood outside the farm house to exchange goodbyes. It was supposed to look like it was outdoors, but you can clearly tell it was indoors just by the lighting and the backdrop.
I didn't know about Christopher Mayer's passing until this month. I was shocked and sad about it. He will be missed by Dukes of Hazzard fans worldwide as I'm a big fan of the show.
@micahcareyfilms Proper sendoff? These guys did not even get a full episode or 2 with at least all 4 Duke Boys together. They were in 3 scenes and were gone within the first 10 minutes of this episode. Hardly a proper sendoff, more like getting kicked off.
@Ironbumm I've met assholes before but you a re a hemmorhoid. What kind of a jerk wishes death on people. maybe you should drop dead if you are so miserable
@videozfann He died in his home of natural causes. Sorry to take so long to respond. He was one of my dad's closest friends, and they even acted together. Pray for his 3 daughters, Ashley, Alex, and Gigi.
Just think if Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer hadn't been written out of The Dukes Of Hazzard after Tom Wopat and John Schneider triumphantly returned, the four could be the "'Beatles'" of Hazzard". But oh no. Warner Bros. would have had to shell out more money to keep the cast expanded. Cathy Bach almost left DOH with Tom and John. DOH would have been cancelled 3 years earlier when it was if so. By the time Tom and John returned, the DOH regular cast was exactly the same as 1979-80.
There was a short-lived Saturday morning cartoon series based on the Dukes of Hazzard that John Schneider,Tom Wopat,Chris Mayer and Byron Cherry all worked on.
@videozfann The irony is that the cartoon premiered with Coy and Vance at the same time they left the live series. The cartoon with Bo and Luke only lasted 7 episodes the following season.
@videozfann I suppose so.It's possible there may have been some episodes that featured Bo & Luke but never made it on the air because it got cancelled abruptly in Season 2.
A bitterswwet moment. The only episode with all 4 Duke boys. Coy and Vance weren't needed anymore so their portrayers got laid off. Anyway, welcome back Bo and Luke. This is the season where Enos came back from L.A. also. Boss Hogg's cousin Cletus worked with Enos in the first three episodes of the 1982-83 season. Cletus' portrayer Rick Hurst went on to star in the CBS short-lived sitcom AMANDA'S.
@videozfann The sendoff was crappy probably because nobody liked the seudo Bo and Luke. They are dressed the same, drive the same car, act the same, etc. No offense to Byron Cherry and Christopher Meyer, it's not they're fault, but Coy and Vance tanked the show. In my opinion, good riddance. :)
@TheSouthernSunshine1 They were just thrown into a no win situation as Bo and Luke clones and told what to do, yes not there fault. Nobody took the time to get used to them either, and people over the years have said their sendoff was crappy even though they came in and kept the show going instead of it being cancelled altogether, yeah, a lot of appreciation there. Ego Schneider and Wopat started the tanking of the show when they walked off jeopardizing everybodys job that worked on the show.
Yes, Coy and Vance must be credited for keeping the show going. Things have gone full circle for them as they came in with a non-General Lee car and leave in a non-General Lee car. It was great seeing all four Duke boys together.
Coy and Vance were okay but they looked liked magazine models while Bo and Luke look looked like real country boys. They had to bring them back........just good the old boys. wouldn't change if they could. fighting the system (HOLLYWOOD EXCECS) like a two modernday Robin Hood. YEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAW
@logik316 yeah, but dont forget Bo and Luke caused this by leaving and had the new guys not stepped in to keep the show going, the show probably would have been cancelled altogether and Bo and Luke would not have came back at all.
@videozfann, Yeah, tell me about it, they just throw the guys off the show as to say, "Thanks for coming, now get the eff out!" *lol* I thought maybe they could have gotten a full episode with all four actors but I know CBS wouldn't spend for a budget like that. Especially for the virtually unknown Cherry and Mayer. I'm surprised they (CBS) sprung for the tab to shoot this scene.
@SidJustice1 Well I guess this scene was a better send off than nothing. Seemed to me like Pyle and Bach were kind of sad by it and Schneider and Wopat were just standing there eating it up.
