  • I don't think I ever missed an episode of Dukes of Hazzard as a 7 year old when the show first came out. I could hear the introductory music playing in my room because I would leave the TV on and would sprint up the stairs to my room to watch.

I do remember they tried to make a show called "Enos," about the Rosco's partner? I remember seeing that and thinking "they are scraping the bottom of the barrel."

  • @mrceebees14 Yeah, great kid memories for me to. I was also 7 also when the show came out and my Friday nights from 79 to 81 consisted of watching Hulk and Dukes back to back. I was aware of the time and knew I had to be home on Friday nights by 8pm, the good old days, sorely missed. Yeah, I watched Enos and agreed a bad idea but at least he came back to Dukes.

  • @videozfann That is so ironic, I was a HUGE Hulk fan, which came out before Duke of Hazzard I think did. I had the lunch box and I think I was the Hulk for Halloween back then haha. The only other show I totally loved was "Happy Days," there is a picture of me in the family photo album of me giving "the fonze" "heeyyyy" double thumbs up on our porch of my parents old house.

  • RIP Christopher Mayer. Despite what hardcore fans thought of Coy & Vance, they should've worked with Bo & Luke, to foil Boss Hogg's plan of the week.

  • @14DaveHunter Agreed! Should have at least did 1 full episode together before leaving.

  • man i wish i could grow a sweet head of helmet hair like luke and vance, they could literaly take there hair off and switch with each other and u wouldnt notice

  • @TheShitfobrains LOL! that is funny.

  • wow thats has to be the shittiest looking set ever

  • Rest in peace Christopher Mayer, a loss for all us Dukes fans.

  • @TangledWebFilms True, seems like he is getting more respect now being gone than he did on the series.

  • The show never recovered it's ratings even when Bo and Luke came back after missing that almost full season..

  • @0TheSeeker Bounced back a little but not to the point it was before Bo and Luke left.

  • I love watching Tom Wopat and John Schneider trying to act like they give a crap about their doppelgangers leaving.

  • @GBev2K Seems like they are just eating it up, don't it?

  • @GBev2K Yeah, that must have been an awkward scene to shoot for everyone. This is what happens when producers try to backtrack and fix a wage dispute midseason. They should have given Wopat and Schneider what they wanted in the first place or rode out their mistake until the end of the season and recast during hiatus. Waldron learned the hard way who the stars of the show were and it wasn't the car like he thought. Looked uncomfortable onscreen.

  • @Koldeman Actually Waldron was against it as well of recasting after Tom and John left. He thought it would not work either but the executives at Warner did whatever the hell they wanted. Bad move though on whoever made tthe decision. Agreed! you could see the tension on screen and Schneider and Wopat eating it up.

  • Warner Brothers did the right thing in that scene....repassing the torch the way they did!

  • @toonzguy Not really, more or less just kicked them to the curb.

  • Rest in Peace Vance Duke

  • @creeperjeep08 Yep, another member of the Dukes family gone.

  • i love how schneider doesn't look at the road once during the final dialogue with Bo while he's "driving."

  • @goodmorningcapt1 Schneider is Bo!

  • @videozfann whatever, i haven't watched that show since I was 8

  • @goodmorningcapt1 OK? thought you were confused on who was who? I was trying to make sense out of the comment, no big deal.

  • All 4 heads turned when she walked away.

  • @Analysticat Kissing Cousins? LOL!

  • Ever notice how the scenery was so fake? Look at how all 6 of them stood outside the farm house to exchange goodbyes. It was supposed to look like it was outdoors, but you can clearly tell it was indoors just by the lighting and the backdrop.

  • @meangreen69Nova They were outside man.

  • Coy and Vance can never be as good as Bo and Luke but still....

Double the Dukes, Double the Fun ;)

  • @McGrawGrlRocks Too bad, what could have been.

  • I didn't know about Christopher Mayer's passing until this month. I was shocked and sad about it. He will be missed by Dukes of Hazzard fans worldwide as I'm a big fan of the show.

  • Coy and Vance wanna triple bang Daisy @ 0:52

  • This show had the decency to give these guys a proper send off!

  • @micahcareyfilms Proper sendoff? These guys did not even get a full episode or 2 with at least all 4 Duke Boys together. They were in 3 scenes and were gone within the first 10 minutes of this episode. Hardly a proper sendoff, more like getting kicked off.

  • that New York Italian guido looks awkward on the farm

  • I just heard about the death of Christopher Mayer hopefully Byron Cherry is next then ny childhood dream will be realized.

  • @Ironbumm I've met assholes before but you a re a hemmorhoid. What kind of a jerk wishes death on people. maybe you should drop dead if you are so miserable

  • MY PRAYERS AND MY SYMPTHIES GOES OUT TO THE CHRISTOPHER MAYER FAMILY

  • R.I.P Christopher..you will be missed!!!

  • Jesus...was he SEXY!!!!

  • @chasenip2 maybe from a female view but I dont think so, LOL!

  • @videozfann Be nice. Everyone sees Uncle Jesse differently.

  • @bramclark Be nice? WTH? I wasn't being rude. I was being humorous which included LOL! Nobody was talking about Uncle Jesse anyway.

  • R.I.P Christopher Mayer

  • Just found out yesterday. RIP Chip! Can't believe it

  • @ItchyGoomie Yeah, big surprise!

  • I don't think I've seen this since 1983. Very touching, sweet scene.

  • Cannot Believe He's Dead. R.I.P. Vance.

  • @BanditHamlin11 Only 57.

  • @videozfann I mean I hate Coy and Vance, but Chris was a great actor

  • RIP .....Christpher Mayer .... Kinda funny ...He looked so happy when as starred in LIAR LIAR with Jim Carrey

  • @SkinSplitter1 Yeah he was pretty good in that for the small part he had in Liar Liar!

  • @videozfann I'm just saying he looked healthy ...He didn't appear as though he was gonna die

  • @SkinSplitter1 Well hopefully not, that was 14 years ago.

  • @videozfann lol lol Right !!! .... Oh Well ....Atleast Tom and John are still alive ....Their the original Duke Boys anyways ...

  • @SkinSplitter1 So is Coy!

  • RIP "Vance."

  • @akabubba05 close family friend of mine .. he'll be missed. love you chip

  • @alw87642 You knew him? What happened?

  • @videozfann He died in his home of natural causes. Sorry to take so long to respond. He was one of my dad's closest friends, and they even acted together. Pray for his 3 daughters, Ashley, Alex, and Gigi.

  • @alw87642 Thanks for the info. Would like to have met him. He and Cherry got a raw deal on Dukes.

  • Breaking news! Christopher Mayer, who played Vance Duke, passed away on July 23 unexpectedly at age 57.

  • Actually,Christopher Mayer, born George Charles Mayer III in New York,NY,died on the 24th and of natural causes unbelievably.

  • So long, scabs!

  • @junedeon always could have been worse, show cancelled!

  • Thanks for the episodes our careers are now officially over, thanks a friggen lot duke boys!

  • Just think if Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer hadn't been written out of The Dukes Of Hazzard after Tom Wopat and John Schneider triumphantly returned, the four could be the "'Beatles'" of Hazzard". But oh no. Warner Bros. would have had to shell out more money to keep the cast expanded. Cathy Bach almost left DOH with Tom and John. DOH would have been cancelled 3 years earlier when it was if so. By the time Tom and John returned, the DOH regular cast was exactly the same as 1979-80.

  • There was a short-lived Saturday morning cartoon series based on the Dukes of Hazzard that John Schneider,Tom Wopat,Chris Mayer and Byron Cherry all worked on.

  • @arhuxtable Yep, it started with Byron and Chris in February 1983 and then went to Tom and John after they came back.

  • @videozfann The irony is that the cartoon premiered with Coy and Vance at the same time they left the live series. The cartoon with Bo and Luke only lasted 7 episodes the following season.

  • @landrykkb Yeah, i know this. So Coy and Vance got the last laugh in the cartoon.

  • @videozfann I suppose so.It's possible there may have been some episodes that featured Bo & Luke but never made it on the air because it got cancelled abruptly in Season 2.

  • It figures that Luke would make that comment 'What a pair!" as Coy and Vance drove off.

  • Coy and Vance were gone by the end of Act One.

  • A bitterswwet moment. The only episode with all 4 Duke boys. Coy and Vance weren't needed anymore so their portrayers got laid off. Anyway, welcome back Bo and Luke. This is the season where Enos came back from L.A. also. Boss Hogg's cousin Cletus worked with Enos in the first three episodes of the 1982-83 season. Cletus' portrayer Rick Hurst went on to star in the CBS short-lived sitcom AMANDA'S.

  • @arhuxtable Pretty crappy sendoff to and not even a full episode with all 4 guys.

  • @videozfann The sendoff was crappy probably because nobody liked the seudo Bo and Luke. They are dressed the same, drive the same car, act the same, etc. No offense to Byron Cherry and Christopher Meyer, it's not they're fault, but Coy and Vance tanked the show. In my opinion, good riddance. :)

  • @TheSouthernSunshine1 They were just thrown into a no win situation as Bo and Luke clones and told what to do, yes not there fault. Nobody took the time to get used to them either, and people over the years have said their sendoff was crappy even though they came in and kept the show going instead of it being cancelled altogether, yeah, a lot of appreciation there. Ego Schneider and Wopat started the tanking of the show when they walked off jeopardizing everybodys job that worked on the show.

  • Yes, Coy and Vance must be credited for keeping the show going. Things have gone full circle for them as they came in with a non-General Lee car and leave in a non-General Lee car. It was great seeing all four Duke boys together.

  • @van76 Too bad it was not a full episode or 2 of them all together.

  • @van76 Even if only for a very brief time.

  • Any time i see a charger and a mustang, i think of "Bullitt".

  • My favorite Dukes moment ever. I laugh every time I see those two yahoos leave and Bo and Luke drive the General Lee again!

  • @KurtBuschRules2 Those 2 yahoos were shit on pretty good after they came on to keep the show going until the other guys came back.

  • Coy and Vance were okay but they looked liked magazine models while Bo and Luke look looked like real country boys. They had to bring them back........just good the old boys. wouldn't change if they could. fighting the system (HOLLYWOOD EXCECS) like a two modernday Robin Hood. YEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAW

  • @LVSWTZ , I agree. Coy and Vance did look like magazine models.

  • Thanks for keeping the engine warm, guys. Now that the stars are back, y'all can get lost.

  • @logik316 yeah, but dont forget Bo and Luke caused this by leaving and had the new guys not stepped in to keep the show going, the show probably would have been cancelled altogether and Bo and Luke would not have came back at all.

  • @videozfann

I know, I just meant they were a bit too obvious in treating Coy and Vance as nothing more than substitute-Dukes.

  • @logik316 Yeah, and their send off was pretty crappy in my opinion, not even a full episode with all 4 Duke boys.

  • @videozfann, Yeah, tell me about it, they just throw the guys off the show as to say, "Thanks for coming, now get the eff out!" *lol* I thought maybe they could have gotten a full episode with all four actors but I know CBS wouldn't spend for a budget like that. Especially for the virtually unknown Cherry and Mayer. I'm surprised they (CBS) sprung for the tab to shoot this scene.

  • @SidJustice1 Well I guess this scene was a better send off than nothing. Seemed to me like Pyle and Bach were kind of sad by it and Schneider and Wopat were just standing there eating it up.
