  • She is 波多野睦美.

  • I think the best interpretation!

    Wo is the lady?

  • Very good performance, it takes real talent to sing well enough in a foreign language to be praised by native speakers!

  • Not sure why we're all so surprised about her English being good...English singers of this style sing in other languages all the time and I don't notice us commenting on that.

  • Die schönste Aufnahme, die ich von "Sally Gardens" bisher gehört habe! Die Interpreten sind einfach wundervoll.

  • wonderfull diction and nuances, both exellent. Really touching.-

    Congratulations Mutsumi and Takashi!

    Un fuerte abrazo desde Alemania!

  • This is, by far, the best performance of this song available on youtube. Simple, controlled, beautiful interpretation.

  • I love this song very much.

    the performance is perfect!

  • just wonderfull...

  • anyone have the sheet music for this song? in piano please?

  • Beautiful!

Lovely tones and diction the best I have yet heard!

  • This singer is Mutsumi HATANO, and the lutenist is Takashi TSUNODA. They are Japanese.

  • It almost made me cry I loved it!

  • Is this sung in Emajor?

  • Yeats wrote the poem/song from the half-remembered words of a song he heard in his younger days by an elderly lady in Sligo. He added his own words. I have an old music/song book from which I learned the music for the trumpet. Strangely, the book says the music is a traditional Scottish air. It was published in Scotland which is where I live and this may be an unreliable attribution of the source. But the Yeats story is from Yeats himself.

  • now,i am full of tears too

  • Who is this singer?

Very nice performance by the way!

  • It's incredibile the strange likeness between this irish song and some old oriental songs

  • Excellent English for a non-English speaker

  • @djhooten

Excellent English, period. In any case, I suspect this lady is an English speaker- it may not her first language, but she could surely be fluent.

  • @djhooten especially for a japanese.

  • @djhooten Who says she is not English speaker ?!

  • This is a beautiful performance of "Down by the Sally Gardens." Who is this singer, though? Her tone quality is beautiful, not to mention her diction.

  • Lovely. Simple and beautiful

  • Bravo pour cette interprétation pleine de poésie. Magnifiques voix et accompagnement.
