Sorry but 1940 was their one chance and they blew it. In 1941 they would have had to:
1) Overcome a strengthened RAF at considerable range from their home bases.
2) Face the worlds largest navy waiting to blow them out of the water.
3) Be shelled\shoot to bits on the beach assuming they could have got past 1) and 2)
Don't underestimate the UKs capacity to repel - it was formidable.
The Wermacht would have been slaughtered and the channel would have gone red with blood.

@nhcox2 Stalin wasn't ready for war. You can see where his forces stood at this time and in what a shape they were. NR Inferior German Forces cutted through them making millions of prisioners in the first month. Invasion of GB was impossible because of the British Navy and inferior German naval forces. Churchill wanted to fight and wait for USA or USSR to come in to the fight. Stalin wanted them to kill each other. Roosevelt wanted to save his New Deal and make USA rich. Churchill dead, war won.

It would've taken the Soviet Union years to amass a modern military, the only reason the Soviet Union turned into a military superpower was because they increased military production during World War 2 to some 150%, if they didn't get attacked the Soviets would've remained nothing more then a border skirmish against the might of the Luffwaffe and Werhmacht in the event that Hitler conquered Britain THEN attacked the Soviet Union.

Yea but their nationalism was fueled by hatred and revanchism of lands they thought belonged to them and carving out an empire they thought was supposed to be theirs before the failure of WW1. It's not too much about racism since even America wasn't super racist back then, but the Nazi's were all about the "german people".

The documented truth from many sources that Hitler wanted to restore Germany Pre-WWI, humiliate the French and eliminate the Marxists. He didn't want GB, nor the USA or anything else but Soviet Union. Ironic how the US stood with Soviet against Germany even with their long known history of violence and massacre. Had they supported Germany, Cold War would never happened.

In fact, the British knew the last bastion of British territory outside the isles was going to fall soon (India) and believed that an alliance with Germany could solve this. The only reason that the world is not split between the British Empire, the Third Reich and the Imperial Japanese empire, with the Americans probably holed up over there is because Churchill said no.

The battle of Britain was intended to destroy the RAF in a precursor to operation sealion which was a proposed invasion of the British isles. Hitler had very much every intention to invade GB if he could.
