  • So sweet!

  • after I heard you play I can never listen to another harper anymore

  • @MrBdc2013

    Ooohh.. this sounds very flattering...

Have you heard my alphorn or seen my new years video??

  • @bodenhofen I have seen your new years video which was also fantastic as well im going to watch your alphorn right now. Were you ever in a famous orchestra or something?

  • @MrBdc2013

I once played in the Northland Symphonic Orchestra in Kansas City, Missouri, and I also played in a school orchestra there. Nowadays I sometimes play in the orchestra of our parish, for special events.

  • That was beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing, you are truely gifted.

  • @9r9a9z9i9e9l9

    Thanks for your comment!

  • I would love to buy a harp that sounds like that,,,i wish i knew more about the different kinds of harps ....i wonder how much a harp like he is playing costs....??

  • @1susannew

Hi! If you search for enchantedharp , you can find something similar to mine.

So I hope this helps you! (If not, ask again!!)

    Werner (Bodenhofen)

  • @bodenhofen Wow you're so talented, you're like an Angel!

  • @009jorge1

Oh goodness, you almost make me blush!!

  • It's like a lullaby, so very beautiful. I want to learn how to play the harp. Do you have any recommendations where to start, what kind of harp to get etc. ?

  • @kiwiquinn

My harp is a lap harp with 22 strings (3 octaves), and it is one I can recommend .I got it from CAMAC, France

  • Wow ! Great playing and your harp has a great tone.

  • bravo!

  • Beautiful! Are those metal strings? And it looks very small, is it a 19 or a 22 string harp?

  • @jayeyetube The strings are plastic, not metal. It's a 22-string harp...

  • @bodenhofen Thank you. It's really lovely, such a clear tone. Pity Camac harps are so expensive!

  • 好美喔!!

  • this is so breathtakingly beautiful! what kind of harp is it? i'm looking for a lap harp like this one to buy, do you have any recommendations? thanks so much.

  • @yorayalay Hi! My harp is a lap harp built by CAMAC in France. In the USA, I don't know where you could find one. Mine is a basic model, even without levers.

  • Beautiful melody. Beautiful setting.

  • This is such a beautiful melody :)

  • Thanks!

  • Hello!)I was interested in this composition too!Would you be so kind to send it to me?E-mail elwynsun@mail.ru

    Thank you!

  • @ElwynSun

Hi! I would love to send you the music, but it is written in the program "Encore", so without the program you would not be able to open the file.

  • Hi Sir! I am David from the Philippines. I am really amazed by the sound of the harp and I am interested in purchasing one. Unfortunately, as far as I know, we don't have a store here in the Philippines that sells one. Do you have any suggestion where I can buy one online? I really would appreciate your response. Thanks and God bless!

  • @Bluetterfly

Hi David! I think ist's a great idea you purchasing a harp (especially with your name!) - Unfortunately I don't know myself who sells lap harps online. You might just search on the internet. I got my harp from CAMAC in France. All the best!!

  • @Bluetterfly Try to find out what shops will ship to the Philippines, or a music store that won't mind having one shipped to them for you. I understand that shipping items can be an issue to Phil. since my mom is from there. I've heard some stories, lol. The best way to find out is to email various online stores. TI was looking at Dulcimershofar (website .com) Maybe ask them if they ship to Phils?

  • What key is the harp tuned to for this song? I love it~

  • Hi Phii

The lap harp is tuned in G-major here...

    All the best!

    Werner

  • Very nice...

  • Hi Werner, Could you try to email me this one piece first and then give me instructions on how to order the booklet ? Or really just do what is easiest for you. I will gladly compensate you for your efforts of course. Do you need or have my email address? Please let me know at your earliest convenience. I really admire your musical ability. You are a great inspiration. Ruthie

  • I listen to this song at least 3 times a day. It's so melodic and beautiful. If you composed it yourself cudos to you kind sir for sharing your talent with all of us out here.

  • OMG!!! I Just love this video and the way you play... I've marked it as a favorite some time ago and just have to watch it over and over!!! That's truly a blessing and a gift to be able to play so well.

  • i think you`ve just convinced me to buy one :) I didn`t know it can sound so amazing. I`ve never played any instrument so I`ma a bit worried, but I hope it`s never too late. Do you think I can teach myself?

  • @alksand2a

not having played an instrument before, i think it would be good if you had a teacher; to tune the harp, and to get the basics. later i think you could carry on alone.

  • Hello. I LOVE this song and have recently purchased a lap harp. Is there any way to get the music for this beautiful melody? I think you play wonderfully. Thanks. Ruthie

  • @rubyred1001

Hi Ruthie.. Thanks for your encouraging comments!

Yes I've composed the music myself (or rather, they have been given to me via inspiraton).

The notes (and 29 more pieces of music) are in a music booklet that I have published. I could either send it by post or try to email this one piece. What would you prefer?

    Yours

    Werner

  • @rubyred1001

Hi Ruthie! If you send me your Email-adress, I can send you an EPS-file (hoping you can open it). The other possibility is to send a fax (if you give me the number). Or to send you the booklet altogether (which contains 30 pieces I wrote for lap harp)... So let me know!!

    Werner

  • What do you call a harp that one holds on the thigh like that? Or is that simple a 22 string harp?

  • It's called "Lap Harp"; however, this term is also used for another string instrument, a plucked psalter. In German the above instument is called "Schoßharfe" (which means "lap harp" as well).

  • Beautiful! How many strings does it have?

  • It has 22 strings ranging from c' to c''''

  • Beautiful instrument :)

  • muchas gracias!

...and do you play something yourself?

  • No, I could never learn anything . It is too difficult. All my music teachers vaccinated me! But I love to listen good tunes.

  • is that a saxaphone picture in the background?

  • yes it is! a friend of mine made it for me (since I play saxophone too; you can see the saxophone case below the bagpipe!)

  • @bodenhofen awesome! i play saxaphone as well; i also loves bagpipes and are wanting to learn the harp

  • lovely did u teach yourself?

  • yes I did! (for the lack of a teacher!)

  • sounds great! id like to teach myself how to play the harp but not sure howifficult it would be

  • depends on what musical training you have already. harp is medium difficult. having had some musical training, you can learn it by yourself.

  • You play beautifully! I enjoyed listening to this very much. ^_^

  • Thankssss!

  • i was wondering where you got your harp from? i need a small one aside from my salvi :)

  • i got my harp from CAMAC in France. the type is called "Troubadour". hope this helps you!

  • really? do they maybe have an online store?

  • Yes they do; at the moment however the online store on their homepage is under reconstruction. But just try to google "Camac".

  • Tomorrow I am getting a lap harp, but this lap harp isn't the same as the one featured in the video, its like almost triangular and fits on top of your lap flatly. is there much of a difference?

  • Yes. Yours is probably not a real harp but a kind of zither (or hackbrett or cymbal), the strings running parallel to the box and not at an angle as with real harps . The problem is that sometimes one word is being used for different instruments.

  • beautiful!

  • Applause! Love your music! ^^

  • Thank you!!

  • What a beautiful tune and such a lovely tone from your beautiful little harp! By the way, do you know any place online where I could find lead sheets for folk tunes from Austria or other European countries. I'm working on arrangements for 26-string harp. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your compliment!

Concerning your question: No, I don't know of any places in the internet where you can find such sheet music. The pieces I play I have composed myself. I can send them (booklets with 30 or 60 pieces for lap harp), if anybody is interested.

  • Inspirational

  • is this a 'Liar'?

i've looked everywhere for information on it, and I was just wondering if this was it!

do you know where you can buy them?

  • my harp is a "troubadour" from Camac in France. i don't know about the "Liar".

  • ohh thank you, that makes more sense :)

  • Do you mean a 'Lyre'?

  • yeah thanks :)

found out from on another video :D

    Herzlichen Dank !!!!

  • beautiful!! Thank you for sharing.

    Warm regards,

    Blaine

  • Wow! I bought a lap harp a few days ago and I don't know how to tune it well and I want to play it well.... Like you! So beautiful!!!

  • Hi! How's it going with your lap harp? About tuning: There should be a description of the instrument telling at least the pitch of the lowest string. Then just tune upward the scale you want to play!

  • All I can say is WOW

  • beautiful - you just made my day!!!

  • Wow, that was beautiful! Fantastic playing and a great melody.

  • Thank you!

  • I really enjoyed this. You are very talented. I just bought a lap harp. I can only hope to be as talented as you one day. Keep it up!

  • Thank you! All the best with your lap harp!

Anyway, I find it encouraging that there is someone else who plays several instruments ... and "messes around" with some more"...!!

  • lol i play drums would you want to collaborate ever?

    just for fun. :)

  • Well since I am in Austria, and you in the USA, playing together might be a bit difficult! - I have however played together with a drummer recently - see one of my newest videos!

  • wow, that was very pretty

  • thank you!

  • that has a nice sound.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • The song is called "Getröstet unterwegs" (being comforted as you carry on on your way). I wrote it 7 years ago, and it is also on my CD "Harfenspiel" which contains 30 pieces of music for lap harp.

  • Sehr Schoen. Wo kann ich dieses Lied kaufen? Ich spiele auch Lap Harp.

    ~Brenda

  • Very pretty.

  • Einfach wunderschön, bringt einen zum lächeln und träumen :-)

  • (I reply in English, to stay international): Thanks for your encouraging commentary! - The music I play on this video is part of a CD with harp music I made in 2002.

As I see, you play harp too and do a lot with celtic music! How did you start on that?

    Greetings...

  • celtic music always touched me as long as I can remember, so it was only natural for me to sing along to these beautiful tunes. Now I do celtic studies at university and have the chance to learn all those lovely languages. Last year I decided to get a harp and I startet playing at the beginning of this year. I hope to be as good as you on that instrument some day ;)

  • Beautiful!!!! Give us some tips on how to learn. Any books or videos you'd recommend?

  • Hi Lantan81!!

Reading your comment I decided to make a small video for learning to play the lap harp... I hope you like it!

    All the best

    Werner

  • that's amazing, makes me want to buy a lap harp too! :)

  • Well, Kaede, if you are really interested... I bought my harp from France actually (Camac harps)! And if one is a bit of a musician, it's not all that difficult to learn!

If you need any advice, let me know! (Werner from Austria)
