  • Who ever thought a PSL was an SVD copy is an idiot. The SVD was a different design, just made to look like the russian weapons. The PSL is really a big RPK. Virtually the same receiver, just elongated The PSL is to the AK, as the M110 is to the M16.

  • People who think the Romanian PSL is the same as the Russian Dragunov SVD are modern warfare 3 playing faggots. They aren't even the least bit similar besides a quick glance at the exterior. EVEN the exterior of the two rifles have NO INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS. And don't get me started about the internal parts. The difference is like night and day. Like comparing a Ferrari to a Honda Accord.

  • @SurvivalistSong exactly and that is the very basis for this video. I was fed up with how retarded people can be when they want to argue with me about what is an SVD and what isnt.

  • @sgtking11b amen. thanks for making the video. i have a PSL too. because i'd rather spend $10K on a motorcycle than on a Dragunov SVD.

  • @SurvivalistSong anytime. I am right there with you on the price. SVD = 2 MOA with Russian Surplus. PSL = 2 MOA with russian surplus. both get about 1-1.5 with bulgarian surplus and with hand loads both are able to get sub MOA. Only different the SVD can handle heavy ball being a milled receiver. Ill just stick with light ball LOL.

  • you meant same caliber, longer round :P GREAT VIDEO! I cant wait to get my PSL

  • @Emeianoite seriously just get a mosin sniper rifle FAR more accurate more durable and has amazing history and just it feels great to know that a russian sniper in ww2 used this

  • @MrDip02 got 4 of them LOL

  • @sgtking11b ha i don't think you have 4 original mosin sniper rifles :P but still i rather have 10 mosins than 1 PSL

  • @MrDip02 2 rearsenalled other 2 not all 4 with reped PSO scopes. Originals 100% authentic no.

  • you can get a SVD adapter kit for the PSL so you can make it look almost exactly like a SVD, the PSL shoots just as good as a SVD too. Save $3,000 and get a PSL

  • If you'd put the AK bolt in the PSL and the standard AK mag would fit, would the PSL be able to shoot 7.62 x 39 ? (just out of academic curiosity)

  • @greedkiller No because the 7.62x39 is shorter than the 7,62x54r so the issue you would run into is bad chamber pressure which wouldnt allow the bolt to cycle not to mention serious no seating of the round which would damage the threads and the head spacing would be way off from the shorter AK bolt which is very dangerous to the shooter.

  • One thing more.. I noticed a great similarity between the 303 british and the 54R.. Just in case, do you think that it's possible to use that round in PSL or Mosin Nagant??Thanks.

  • @lorddinaire out of the box the .303 brit isnt going to work as it is a 7.7x56mm Now it has a slightly smaller projectile. Even though the 7.62x54r is said to be 7.62 its closer to the 8mm. This is because it is a .310-.312 round depending on who makes it. the .303 is a .311-.313 round pending as well. So that works. .303 is 49,000psi while the x54r is 57,000psi. The rim is 1mm shorter than the x54r is so extractor might have issues. Theoretically you could re chamber for the .303 without issues

  • @sgtking11b Thanks again.

  • @lorddinaire Anytime just remember if your planning to rechamber to the .303 make sure you stick with rounds that are 155gr and under.

  • @sgtking11b . Yes..Do you have or know any video with PSl shooting over a metal plate at 800 meters or more? I saw one made by you at 600 meters (when I saw that video I bought my PSL) but I can't test my rifle over 100 meters where I live. (No ranges over 100 meters around here, no deserts, lot of people around) Thanks.

  • @lorddinaire Unfortunately not. I was shooting through 3 neighbors back yards (with their permission of course) plus the property where the target sat on the very far end with the back stop. Normally i can only push 400 meters max from one end of the land to the other. I am looking for a 1000 meter range but nothing even remotely close around here. Most ranges around here go out to 300 meters max.

  • thank you .

  • @scouttroop291 Anytime.

  • Very interesting and clear explanation. What really confuse me about the PSL, it's most of the people say that it's kind of super AK, or something like that. We know that from the receiver to the gas system, it's clearly and AK, but the accuracy and range has nothing to do with the AK family. For me, the AK is a machine gun and the ammo in 762x39 burns like a pistol, when the 762x54R burns like sniper ammo . By results, instead of an AK on "steroids", for me PSL it's a semi auto Mosin Nagant.

  • @lorddinaire The reason is because the PSL is the exact same system as an AK. The 7.62x39 is equal to the 30-30 round and contrary to popular belief the AK is accurate. Perhaps not a uber tac drivers compared to someones custom match grade barreled AR in controlled environments but you put the AK head to head in normal weathers conditions with good surplus ammo against a standard M4/M16 with good surplus and your still going to hit the same target just fine at 300 meters.

  • @sgtking11b Thanks again. Good to find in youtube someone who knows what he is talking about.

  • @sgtking11b not to mention they wanted to make a rifle that would be familiar to soldiers trained on the AK not a bad thing just practical.

  • Thank you for the upload. Great video. Thanks for showing that. I hate how games make the AK the worst gun. The AK is a fantastic gun. I got to add a PSL to my guns! Thanks again.

  • @glockman1727ak47 I completely agree. If you take the M16/M4/AR15 and it it up iron sights against the AKM/AK-47 iron sights, place targets from 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 meters out, your going to hit the targets at each distance no matter which rifle you shoot. If you suck with the AK and not the M16 then you just need to train more with the AK or use better ammo in it. Problem is people use crap ammo and says the weapon is crap. Also most dont know correct trigger control.

  • @sgtking11b It can be done even with crap ammo. Have you shot the bulk 7.62x54r? What MOA are you getting? Just wondering what it can do. I rarely ever put things on paper so i have no idea. I like shooting milk jugs at random distances. I love shooting milk jugs! Blasting water everywhere. (30ft in the air with my Mosin) Watering the desert is a hard job but someone has got to do it.

  • @glockman1727ak47 I have used damn near every ammo in the PSL and depending on the ammo you will see shot groups of 1-8 MOA. 8 MOA being the silver tip (most say its good in both of mine it sucked ass). I highly recommend getting about 20 rounds of each kind of ammo you can and just punching paper to see which round works best for your rifle. Thats how you should do it with any rifle you have anyway. Each rifle is different.

  • i haven't read all the comments so this may have been covered already but this is the reason why the psl can be bought so cheap. right now around 700 new. an svd. if you can find one is closer to 4000. reason being is exactly what was stated in the video. they take mass produced parts and factories that build ak's and slightly change them for the psl. the svd is not as cheap to build because it uses its own specific parts. great correctional video sgtking.

  • @cameron44221 Mass production always equates to cheaper cost. Not to mention the PSL has a stamped receiver rather than milled, the very reason they have to re-enforce the trunion and tang for the heavier x54r round. None the less the PSL is rated for 1.5 MOA on paper which i can say both of mine are hitting 1.2-1.3 MOA easy while the SVD is listed as a 2 MOA but really gets sub-MOA up to 1.5 MOA, depending on the SVD, ammo, shooter and condition of the rifle.

  • i'd also like to point out the recoil spring on the Drag. is acctually attatched to the Dust cover, atleast on the ones i have seen before.

but i am wanting to get a PSL, as i do like the "ak-47 on steroids" for 500$. anything or any place that i should look for on getting one? one that has a better garentee of straight sights and proper fitting magazines? those are some of the things ive heard these guns were a bit notorious for. but i still want one badly. anything you can help me out with?

  • @spartan36789 contact TN Guns or centerfire systems they have fantastic builds for the PSLs.

  • When u said extractor, don't u mean ejector? Great video by the way!

  • @picure yes i mean to say ejector, extractor is part of the bolt head which is spring loaded. Just a case of mis-identification which ironically enough was the purpose of this video.

  • @sgtking11b the psl is actually built using RPK Receivers, barrels and gas bolt carrier assembly if you look at the rpk and psl they are the same but you are correct they are built the same way as an ak except for the modifications needed for the longer barrel and more powerful round nothing wrong with that as it is a hell of a lot easier to find parts great video and setting straight these adolescent Call of Duty players

  • For anyone who's actually fired the weapons in question, the difference becomes even more obvious, a PSL feels like a chunky AK, an SVD feels like, well, an SVD

  • i heard the psl was like the rpk and not the dragunov, because the rpk was also and upsized ak

  • @godzilla1463 you are correct on this godzilla but the RPK still shoots the x39 but it has a longer receiver. Thats really all the PSL is, an RPK receiver in x54r.

  • I know they weren't designed to be sniper rifles, but did they ever came with case deflectors? A shell flying off high above you is going to give your position away, sniper or not.

  • @MingGuoLi these rifles like the AK are designed to throw the shell right and forward not up and over so the shell stays within the ground report already.

  • did you have any trouble putting them back together, no wait you wouldnt, cause the PSL is just alot bigger :D

  • @xxx223xxxx LOL exactly! Finally someone who listens!

  • i want an SVD so badly, its been my favorite sniper rifle since i was a child

  • @xxx223xxxx Mine also. I have searched for an SVD but they are just way to costly for my price range. I have been able to find a Tigr version but about 4-5k but you still have to go through importing, etc.

  • This guys funny and he definitely knows a lot of shit about guns.

  • I totally agree with you. PSL and SVD are two DIFFERENT rifles. The PSL is NOT the same as Dragunov. Internal parts are very different between the two. Friend has a TIGER which is pretty much the civilian hunting version of the Dragunov SVD.

The PSL's designed is based on the AKM NOT THE SVD!

SO PEOPLE, THE PSL AND SVD ARE NOT THE SAME RIFLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice video, thanks for sharing.

For clearing up things, it should be stated that the PSL is inspired by the RPK not by the SVD. Visually in may look like the Dragunov, but once you see the internals, the differences are pretty obvious.

  • wonder how the Zastava M91 compare to the PSL

  • Lol the sarcasm makes this video worth watching. Mall ninjas. Yes, PSL very different from SVD. I think its the use of the term "dragunov (style)" that makes it such a misunderstood issue. As far as I know, which you stated, the only part I know will swap is the scope rail and even they're slightly different but will mount the same scope type.

  • AMEN BROTHER AMEN!!!!! LOVE IT STUPID USER!!!!

  • Would have been great if you showed the psl vs svd instead of the psl vs ak

  • @Learjt60 As stated before i do not have access to an authentic SVD for a side by side vid which is why i included a brake down picture of the real SVD. If i had a real SVD i wouldnt have purchased a PSL to being with. A real SVD runs for no less than 5,000.00 and those are for the civilian Tigers. An authentic military SVD can run upwards of 15,000.00 and only about 1,000 were imported before the bans.

  • @sgtking11b I got my SVD for $2100

  • @steamingpoopfart Hell of a price, the guy must not have known what he really had.

  • @Learjt60 except SVDs cost $10,000 lol... I don't think he can afford one..

  • @Elluem and is the very reason i went with a PSL and in fact purchased 2 of them.

  • i like this guy!

  • This was a great find, I just bought one of the PSL54c's and was trying to get some knowledge (saw your bipod vid), stumbled across this, and got a really good laugh. Years ago I had an SLR95, AK copy, when I took this PSL apart I was sitting there going "Hmm wonder if a Dragunov is like this," so I fired up google and saw a blow up of the Dragunov... Wow huge difference. It is like comparing an camaro to a mustang, they might look the same to some, but once you know, its hard to miss.

  • I like the [sl becuase IT LOOKS LIKE A SVD

  • Dude... you could have saved 9 minutes by pointing to wikipedia:

"The PSL's operation is the same long stroke piston action of the Kalashnikov family of weapons."

    AK=Automat Kalashnikov

  • @corexs247 You assume people would be intelligent enough to read much less comprehend what is written in Wiki. I have learned assuming most people are intelligent is completely wrong.

  • how much and were can u get a psl for and does it shoot 7.62x 54R?

  • @juggernautiscool Anywhere from 700-1200 depending on what kind you get. Yes they shoot 7.62x54r. I am actually getting ready to sell once of my PSLs for much less than what i put into it. A Cugir factory direct retails for 1600.00 plus i dropped a adjustable stock that ran for 300.00, bipod, adjustable trigger group, extended mag release, tri rail system and adjustable gasblock. I also have all the original parts to conver it back to a classic PSL. No perm mods were done to the rifle.

  • @sgtking11b nice very nice indeed >:)

  • PSL=AK on crack

  • this is rape hahahah pwned him

  • thanks for this vid man, its pretty annoying when people don't get that the svd and psl are not the same thing nor really to similar if you look into it.

  • Dumb ass ninja wannabes lol

  • I love the PSL. It's a clever combination of the most successful russian rifles ever made. The Ak-47 and the ballistics of the Mosin Nagant (the rifle that won the battle of Stalingrad) . But what I don't know yet (I don't know if someone knows that) is if this rifle can perform under any condition as the Ak does.. Any reveling experience about

    this rifle??Thanks..

  • @lorddinaire Well understand that the AK functions so well because of the loose tolerances from the bolt carrier, receiver and locking lugs for the bolt to the chamber. This allows for dirt, particulates and sand to not cause lock ups so common to happen in the competition tight tolerances like the M16s. So yes the PSL would perform in such harsh condition as the AK if not better because of the more powerful round able to cause more throwback to the bolt.

  • @sgtking11b Thanks man. Enlighten.

  • @lorddinaire anytime.

  • @lorddinaire , you haven't used the SVD...

  • @lorddinaire The PLS has a thinner barrel, so it couldn't handle extended rapid fire like ther AK. Other than that there's not much difference.

  • sgtking u are right. in 2002-2003 i was in romanina service, i had ak47 and PSL wich mean (pusca semiautomate cu luneta = Semi-automatic Scoped Rifle), i said it in a direct translation. Dragunos is the russian update to SKS same like PSL is updated ak47, made for longer distances. i loved shotting it i had lots of fun

  • isnt the dragunov made to be a 7.62x54 ak?

  • @tfoshohoe No. This is NOT a dragunov it is a PSL. The SVD (Dragunov) is a system closer based off of the SKS system not the AK. This video is to show the PSL is not a Dragunov. The PSL is closer to an AK. Please research more into SVD and PSL.....

  • @sgtking11b Oh no i know i was saying ak shotgun ak dmr ak 47 or 74 rifle they wanted it to be all based on the ak

  • @tfoshohoe The PSL is based off the AK system because it is reliable, crude and durable. The SVD is nothing like the AK in any way shape or form the only thing the SVD and PSL even have in common is that they both fire the 7.62x54r. (AKs fire the 7.62x39)

  • @sgtking11b I really enjoyed your vid showing that idiot what for. I ran across a diagram of the psl and some good info on psl and svd at wikipedia.

  • @sgtking11b Nice video. Ever heard of the "Kadesiah" rifle? Iraqi made SVD copy built on a modified RPK receiver (much like the PSL), though it uses SVD mechanisms (including a short-stroke piston and the same disassembly/reassembly features). The parts look the same as with the SVD (save the receiver, which is stamped, as I mentioned before), but are not exchangeable, even the mag is incompatible with the SVD and the PSL (it's in 7.62x54mmR, but won't fit the mentioned rifles).

  • @stridingshadow yes i have seen one. It is some kind of hybrid between an SVD and PSL. None of the parts are interchangeable with the SVD or PSL, not even the mags as you mentioned as well. From the internals it looks like they just butchered some PSL and SVD parts, jerry rigged them to work together as a short stroke system and called it a day. Anything made by the diaper heads, ill pass on thanks. The quality of weapons is about as good as their idea of warfare, Pathetic and worthless.

  • So where is this comment on from this F**king idiot that said the svd and psl is the same? I cant find it and would love to take a gander at it. You had me laughin my ass off the entire time, great vid!

  • @reaperpaintball08 It was on another one of my videos on the PSL. I can not recall which one though.

  • hell, they may have may similar parts, but then again, simplicity and loose tolerances make a gun that is almost GI proof. i have a PSL and love it. haven't been able to get an AK yet, but i love the design and the idea behind any guns based off the AK.

  • @deboshadow I like my firearms how i like my women. Loose tolerances. Well, thats how they leave after im done with them.

  • samuraiwarrior1988 is obviously a youtube warrior and has never seen any weapons in real life, I've served in Kuwait AND Afghanistan, the local military uses both of them, and just like you and anyone who's seen or used both of them, would agree that they're exactly the same, way to pawn that guy :)

  • just to note though, the SVD has the same sort of mag release and safety, just a little different in cosmetics, also the PSL is actually made off a RPK reciver, and is built to resemble a SVD, to the ignorant they would seem to be the same animal

  • so in theory you mite be aloud to make the PSL shot the 7.62x39?

  • @Ipodman72 It would require a barrel chambered for the x339, a mag adapter for the different mags, have a custom bolt made that would fit the carrier (ak bolt is shorter and the hammer would be able to strike the firing pin), move the gas block back more to comp for the lower powered round and change out to a lighter spring for the bolt carrier. But yes you could if you really wanted to do it just for shits and giggles.... otherwise just buy an RPK.

  • @sgtking11b ok thanks for the info dude. keep up the good work.

  • hmm... you showed him.

  • Handy video, thanks for posting it. Your 2 romaks look like mine, heheh. I also have a dragunov tiger, and yes, the drag and PSL are 2 different ahimals.

  • show your svd then

  • @lilmommacass If you had even a hint of intelligence to read you will see that i state "I DO NOT HAVE AN SVD I WILL SHOW A DIAGRAM AT THE END OF THE VIDEO". God forbid you actually read something in you life. So let me help you since you are clearly mentally retarded. Skip to the end of the video and compare the two diagrams... Moron.

  • @lilmommacass you're an idiot, it's amazingly rare to see a real SVD in the States nowadays because they don't ship them anymore, chances are only dedicated firearms collectors would have them now, that or museums

  • so you proved in this video that they are different lol...i have yet to see a dragonov in any gun store in years

  • @The45Reason and i doubt you will see a real SVD in stores anytime soon. They stopped importing them long ago. You can still get them from New Zealand for 4,000.00 before importing costs. Your looking at 6k after importing, etc.

  • well done well done lol. i love seeing know it alls get owned lol.

  • I would like to thank you for this video, I could not do what you did in this video as I do not own one of the rifles but now I can tell friends to shut up and listen to you and see for themselves. Again a great comparison!!

  • @AlanAR15223 anytime

  • Haha - outstanding breakdown.

    Well done.

Puts that little BS argument to bed once and for all!

I hunt with a Tigr (civilian version of the SVD) exactly same as the SVD/'Dragunov' except no bayonet lug and no adjustable gas compensator.

SVD has a very lightweight sprung piston rod completely seperate from the bolt carrier.

It runs back and 'taps' the bolt carrier to send it rearward.

  • ok so the PSL its a AK47 but more longer than ak47 and with a bigger cartrige?

  • @dxxa94 correct and more accurate than an AK

  • haaaaaaa, a Romanian AK and PSL, besides all weapons in the Kalashnikov Family basically are the same design, inside and out, some people just need to learn before the fuckin speak

  • Hey buddy, did you get your PSL from J & G in Prescott, AZ?

  • @jcainmc No one from centerfire systems the other from gunbroker.

  • You should ask that fellow to come to u re home and shoot him 1 bullet from every weapon(PSL and SVD) to convince him that the version made by us romanians is almoust identical to the AK-47 russian version, in fact is a bit better because our version is on steroids. :D.

  • does the psl have a recoil buffer that you can install into the dust cover?

  • @pvtjoker777 an AK buffer fits it.

  • It must be different from the one at the gun shop. Can this gun fire the heavy ball?

  • @MrWolverine777 No PSL is designed to fire heavy ball. Only the real SVD can handle the heavy ball even though even the SVD is not designed to take HB it has a milled receiver so it can take the punishment from the higher chamber pressure.

  • Good review do you think that the larger version the one you showed the 7.62 54r would be good for hunting ? what I mean is how is the reliability I looked at one in the gun shop today seems very light to be shooting the massive and powerful 7.62 54r I had a naget very powerful round what do you think and thanks

  • @MrWolverine777 If you call 13lbs light i guess it is haha. Reliability i have two of these rifles and have about 500 rounds through each of them if not more. Both do not have issues of hitting their mark at 1-2 MOA. The rifle is fine for hunting however make sure it is legal in your state to hunt with a 10rd mag. Some states allow no more than a 5 round mag. Even if you only load 5 rounds in, if the mag is capable of taking more than 5 it is still illegal.

  • @MrWolverine777

Yes it is. I use an civilian version SVD for deer hunting.

    7.62 x 54R is approximately somewhere between .308 and 30.06

  • lol "holy shit...who would guess that (bored tone)" and the whole "PSL part is longer, your smart" lol

  • 1998? What is he 12? Of course he has no idea what he's talking about, video games feed this knowledge.

  • There are ton's of differences between SVD and PSL....

they are totally different guns all together....any one who has handled them would tell you that....Milled receiver on the SVD...Stamped on the PSL....Gas Operated indirect piston operation on the SVD direct gas piston on the PSL......totally different guns from totally different designers....also the PSL was ment to be a DMR while the SVD is a full fledged sniper rifle. Good Review Sarge....

  • It's sad that you had to go through the effort of making this video because some idiot is thick headed. In any case, great video. 5 stars.

  • what about the rpk?

  • @halogunner8

The RPK is an LMG firing a 7.2x39mm round. Same design, guts and operation of an AK-47 only with re-enforcements to the receiver and longer barrel to handle the sustained fire rate and also uses most drum mags than anything. Also most RPK rifles have had the full auto retarder removed to allow a slightly higher rate of fire than the standard AK-47. Just as all LMG rifles you fire in short to long bursts randomizing the length of each from burst to burst.

  • @halogunner8 The PSL has taken the re enforcement design and idea of the RPK receiver and just longer and a heavier barrel, caled for 7.62x54r

  • PSL and SVD are both awesome rifles considering how old of ammunition they are using. Also they are living proof that ak 47's can be accurate.

    GREAT VID

  • Exactly

  • Gotta love the Romak. A lot of people will talk trash about AK-47's and similar build rifles... but if you ask them to name another rifle with the same sort've durability and sheer ruggedness of the AK they tend to go quiet real quick LOL. Heck they've found some AK's in Iraq that on closer inspection NOBODY would expect to be able to shoot it, and if it were any other rifle I doubt they'd be wrong.

  • You've gotta love a guy willing to go through such lengths to prove another's stupidity. Great video man, very informative!

  • great video, you nailed it on the head

most people think the psl is a true svd. thank you for posting some factual information!

btw, what kind of moa do you get with yours?

  • Cugir PSL = 1.2 MOA. TN Built PSL = 1.3 MOA. They claim 1.5 MOA on paper and the SVD only claims 2 MOA on paper. My groups were done with surplus bulgarian steel core ammo. With high grade or hand loads i am hitting sub MOA easy. Accuracy is on par with the true SVD at least for both of my rifles.

  • "outstandingly retarded"...I agree...I'm about to pick one up in a few days and the online retailer I plan on using called it a "Dragunov Rifle 7.62x54R Part #DRA-GUN-B"...but for $469 i'll look the other way...best price i've seen so far, if you have a better source by all means let me know.

  • If the receiver is actually marked "FPK Dragunov" that is a TN build which is a good rifle all the same. Cugars are a hair more accurate but are not as pretty as the TN build rifles. Example I have both Cugir cost me 1200.00 as it has collectors value and the gas tube and front sight are twisted off center but still dead accurate and im shooting 1.2" group at 100 meters with surplus ammo. My TN build cost me 850.00 and is eyeball straight all over hitting 1.3" groups at 100m.

  • $469.00 - $550.00 are the prices PSL rifles are going without a scope and only 1 mag. About $700.00 - $750.00 that comes with a scope, 2 mags, cleaning kit and maybe a sling. Even at $1200.00 that i purchased my Cugir for was well worth that price. You can not find a bolt action hitting 1.5 MOA with surplus ammo for that price (Not NATO anyway). I would say bring a bore light check the bore and if its good jump on that deal even more if it has a scope with it!

  • I agree...I'd be willing to spend much more for a rifle as fine as a PSL,..i've already picked up plenty of mags, 5 spam cans of various light ball steel core...I want to get a feel for it with Iron Sights before i pop a scope on it, but i'll probably go with a standard PSO, pick up a sling and a bipod..in my opinion that rifle is more than adequate for anyone who hasnt spent time with a .300 in the backwoods of Ft. Benning..PSL 6 inch groups at 600 yards, thats good enough for the girls i date.

  • do you have any idea how to get to the firing pin on that PSL?

  • There is a retainer pin you have to use a small punch and hammer to knock out before the firing pin will fallout.

  • LOL you fucking pwnd that fucker.

thank you, instead of contributing to random retard youtube-arguments, you *proved* someone wrong.

    your rock.

  • I hve a question if anyone can answer is the mag release identical in the psl and the ak-47.

    Thank you

  • Identical to the AK so is the trigger group.

  • this is hiliarous. whoever that dude was, he sure looks like a retard now.

  • is the ak mag release identical to the psl mag release or are they just the same type

  • Identical.

  • Hi. I was doing my research to buy a PSL or M76 and everywhere I look is the same. People that sale original PSL or M76 original from Romania or Serbia want 2 o 3 times more money than PSL or M76 made with american parts...Is that bad?..American parts are that bad that cost 3 times less than Serbian or Romanian parts??..Thanks to read

  • The Zastava M76 rifle fires a 7.62x57 Mauser round and the rifle is a little more difficult to get ahold to as not many are made like the PSL. Most here in the US are kit builds from demilled kits imported a while back. It is more costly mainly because of the heavier re enforcements needed to handle the mauser round and on top of that paying someone 10.00 an hour or more to build it rather than importing a PSL that cost 1.00 an hour to build from Romania.

  • Thanks for the Info.. I may buy one.. Hooah

  • Ive shot both the svd and the psl.the svd tiger is a nice gun dont get me wrong ,well made and very nice looking.but the psl was made to throw in the mud and shoot like a ak-47. cheaper to make and fix.that was the reson thir made like that.the idea was to have them in more hands to give aimed fire at long distance than aks.they saved the svd for sniper duties and to troops trained to use them.the psl was given out at sqad level so every body was trained to use it.

  • I have to disagree with you on this. The Russian term for sniper is not the Western term. IE: Russian sniper is a squad level based marksman used to tag high value targets but also has the training and capability of longer range shooting with the KSVK. The PSL was designed by the Romanians as a cheap alternative to the SVD used in the same applications as the SVD. Just like the AK was ultimately selected for the replacement for the SKS. Cheaper to make, same MOA, easier to use, etc.

  • i loled i love how people dont believe there mostly the same gun hahaha

  • How did you attach your bipod? I am considering getting a PSL but I wish they made some more accessories for it

  • Check out my other videos i have one showing how to attach a biopod without altering the wood on the PSL.

  • how do you mount the bi pod and what kin d of scope mounts do you use

  • Check out my other vids, i have one showing how to attach a bipod. I used a UTG QD AK-47 center bore mount costs about 40.00.

  • you have done me a huge favour m8, was just in an arguement about the psl and the ak.....thank you!!! you are like my savior

  • Anytime.

  • Up till this video, I felt that the svd and psl were the same rifle, different nations that made them. Similar to the German mauser and the host of other nations that produced their own versions. I'd like a link for a clearer picture of the one that you have at the end of your video. It comes out to fuzzy to see most the details. My problem before hand was that I wasn't aware of a difference between the SVD and AK-47. A clearer picture would help a lot. Thanks for the video.

  • Youtube doesnt allow me to post links in the comments field. You can do a simple google image search for the "AK Parts", "PSL Parts" and "SVD Parts" the first two or three images from a google image search will show you the breakdown of all three rifles and their internals showing they are completely different animals and the PSL is nothing but a longer version of an AK.

  • Biggest difference between AK and SVD is that the SVD has a short-stroke gas piston as opposed to the AK's long stroke gas piston.

  • PSL 4 ever!!!

  • this vid is +1

  • Thanks for the demo. that cleared some things up for me. How accurate is the PSL?

  • 1-1.5 MOA ( 1" - 1.5" at 100 meters)

  • geat vid

  • The first 10 seconds of video is great.

  • You are my hero for making this video! lol. I get so sick of people trying to tell me the Romak/PSL is the same as a SVD. Even though I would still like to own a SVD someday. I will never get rid of my PSL. First one I owned did not shoot very well, sold it and picked up another one. The PSL I own now I will never get rid of.

  • my respect to you as a romanian

  • Can you clean/dis assemble the PSL without removing the original scope and mount (I think it's the PSO-2, Romanian version of PSO-1?)? Thanks.

  • Yes very easily.

  • Oh and a few other things...Mine still has the mount for the bayonet does that mean anything? And where in the hell do I find the little mounts the bi-pod to the forgrip? I cant find it

  • I have noticed that on my Cugir as well. The imported Cugir i have has the bay lug while the one put together in TN does not. Never really looked into it much. As for the bipod forgrip, search it up on midwayusa product number is 624340

  • Thanks so much, Ill give that a look!
