Why you say it's closed? We ride it 2 days ago! It was AWSOME!!! And, in answer to who's asking if it hurts, YES IT HURTS!!! NOthing to do with the modern coaster, were you are all super-secured and immobilized, this is a bouncing nightmare! I LOVED IT!!!

It's a registered landmark & was made one just to prevent that from happening. I love that coaster. I have been on and enjoyed several other wooden coasters, but wondered why the Cyclone was so popular until I got on... there is a greatvariety and rush you get o this thing while remembering how old it is that just feels more special than the others, with respect. There's just something about it that feels great and scary at the same time. I came away feeling lucky to ride it. Long live the Cyclone.

@RedCroc12 He's right. Cyclone remained open after Astroland closed for good as it operates independently from the park. It will open again in the spring & you can ride it until it closes for the winter on the first week of November.
@RedCroc12 I hit enter accidentally before I was done, hope I remember what I was typing cuz it's an old article. I read that several of the first big coasters at Coney and other places (LONG ago) broke ribs and killed a few people, including the first Cyclone. It and others were redesigned or replaced. The older days were not filled with lawsuits like today, but trouble came with it all I'm sure. The info could be faulty but it was a published piece, just can't find it now.
@RedCroc12 yes the cyclone's still open its a historic landmark. the tickets are 8 dollars for one ride and 5 for a second ride. i know the prices sound expensive but its completely worth it
Great roller coaster extremely bumpy, and wild. It can black you out, and make your teeth rattle. The Cyclone is literally the first roller coaster I had ever ridden.

Aside from the rough rattling effect, there are few, if any, others that will scare the ever-lovin' be-jeebers out of you like this one!!!
A ride on the cyclone, a spin on the break dancer, a nathans hot dog, mike hard lemonade and an order of frog legs to go.... I love being a native new yorker!
Unfortunately I thought this coaster was rubbish! I made the mistake of sitting on the very back row and have rarely had to brace myself so hard to avoid pain! It was nearly as bad as Grand National in Blackpool! Sad times :'(

It's still open. It's operated by the NYC Department of Park and Recreation. If you go to Coney Island you can ride it. Just don't forget the $8.00.

@RedCroc12 I hit enter accidentally before I was done, hope I remember what I was typing cuz it's an old article. I read that several of the first big coasters at Coney and other places (LONG ago) broke ribs and killed a few people, including the first Cyclone. It and others were redesigned or replaced. The older days were not filled with lawsuits like today, but trouble came with it all I'm sure. The info could be faulty but it was a published piece, just can't find it now.

@RedCroc12 yes the cyclone's still open its a historic landmark. the tickets are 8 dollars for one ride and 5 for a second ride. i know the prices sound expensive but its completely worth it

Great roller coaster extremely bumpy, and wild. It can black you out, and make your teeth rattle. The Cyclone is literally the first roller coaster I had ever ridden.

@America100000able oooooooooo!!! Bad idea for a First-Timer!! Well, for sheer thrill/terror, you now have a highbar against which to measure any and all other coasters of any type. Aside from the rough rattling effect, there are few, if any, others that will scare the ever-lovin' be-jeebers out of you like this one!!!

My dad sat in front and I sat in the 2nd seat. My dad and I were thrown around like rag dolls. Loved the cyclone tho

Unfortunately I thought this coaster was rubbish! I made the mistake of sitting on the very back row and have rarely had to brace myself so hard to avoid pain! It was nearly as bad as Grand National in Blackpool! Sad times :'(
