@yloiron Svord Drop Point Hunter is one of my favorites, and I think I need to compare it with cKc Belt Knife hunter version (Svord L6 stock) in the near future. Anyway the Svord Hunter comes with a blunt secondary edge and you need to make a new bevel to get it sharp. Thanks.
Thanks Wako. I enjoyed your revision of Kyleys knives in your collection. I received my 'bear knife' this morning and I am impressed also. The steel width combined with the steel choice makes me feel I have a exceptionally sturdy knife. I love the feeling of balance and secure grip when wrapping my hand around the choil and hilt, very secure and easy to maneuver. Also the handle grooves work very well. I think this knife is very versatile, there is little it can't do IMO. I am very impressed.
Can you not also carry a pistol for defense where you are? I've seen (not personally) hunters get beaten badly by deer during deer season because they didn't have a proper quick side arm. I hate to think what a bear would do...
@mccullenj The cKc has a bit shallower curved belly, a bit deeper angled secondary convex bevel, a much slender blade, and good handle-blade transitional design for pinch holding. They are saying that it is a good backstrap remover to me. Thanks.
@frips1000 We can get them from "sell you knife" Kyley's website. But he seems like having a big waiting list and I waited for my new knives for around 6 months. I think Thrive is his current mainstream and N690 European stainless steel is his current favorite. He says on his price in New Zealand Dollars and eventually they are affordable compared to Bark Rivers. Anyway you had better subscribe to his "knivesandstuff" channel. He is a very active YouTuber. His new knives appear there. Thanks.
@Prowler1 I'd imagine a dog could be a hinderance in deer hunting - unless it was superbly trained perhaps? Then again, it would help in tracking the deer if it runs off, and as you said, may help deter a bear perhaps. Interesting idea certainly.
N690Co is Austrian steel Bolerudelholm made it - in my opinion is better than VG10 - has more cobalt and is very fine and strong SS - benchmade and italian custom manufactures worked it great
@stefanwolf88 Thanks! Viewed from Asia, Austria and Germany are very close. Maybe I guess viewed from Europe Japan and Korea are very close. Anyway I don't appreciate VG10 very much. So I expect N690 very much.
@stefanwolf88 N690Co on 60 HRC has great edge retention and when the edge is deeper convex or 40_ degree V edge - there is very sturdy combination - you can check the bigger on wood and the hunting ot game - that's the best in your videos - real hunting situation
@edsilva54 They are much smaller than American brown bears. Maybe nearly the half in size although they are the same species. I have never fought a bear with a knife, but there are many survival stories with a single hatchet. I will survive its attack with the Forrester7 even if I lose lots of meat from my body. Thanks.
Great Video Wako.. Stay safe from those bears. I prefer you only need to use the knife for camping purpose. :) The Esee 6 is a much lighter blade than the Esee5?
@knivesandstuff I didn't think the Esee6 was that heavy in actual measurement compared to your knife. Your Forrester7 felt much heavier in the hand than Esee6. The Esee5 went useless after the Japanese hatchet and the Esee6 will go useless after the Forrester7 for sure. Thank you!
Haha.. I'm at 10:47 now.. I hope it works as well as you make the Field Knife sound Wako :) Not sure about the edge.. it was cutting tissue paper well in the video.. perhaps too fine an edge.. small thickening of the edge angle may toughen it for bones better.
@knivesandstuff The edge problem looked like multiple micro micro edge dents viewed only from one side through the microscope. It disappeared completely after a couple of minute black compound stropping. But I took care not to deepen the edge angle. I like a sharp convex edge very much and I believe your shallow edge will hold during my deer dressing. Thanks.
@virtuovice I hope its not impacting on a rivet in the sheath.. it didn't have any dents when I shipped it which was directly after the edge test video I did. I hope it doesn't repeat ;)
Very interesting to see your cKc collection and the evolution of the knives. I hope you never need to put the Bear Hunter to the ultimate test. Good hunting Wako.
Excellent conversion on the bear knife sheath. I am awaiting a delivery of some cKc knives NOW. They're in the sky now coming from New Zealand. Field Knife and Bear knife are both very very good.

Great review. I look forward to the Bravo 1 vs cKc review. I believe the cKc will out perform the Bravo 1 in backstrap removal.
